St. Anne's - Baptism of the Lord - Jan. 10, 2016 1st Reading: Isaiah 40:1-5, 9-11. The prophet is urged to deliver a message of hope and consolation to the exiles in Babylon. Like a shepherd caring for his sheep. God is coming to save his people. 2nd Reading: Titus 2:11-14; 3:4-7. This talks about the kind of life the baptised should live and the kind of ambitions that should motivate them. Salvation, with its hope of eternal life, is a gift from God through Jesus Christ. Gospel Luke 3:15-16, 21-22. This reading gives us a snatch of John the Baptist's preaching and concludes with a brief account of the Baptism of Jesus. GOSPEL CHALLENGE: How is the quality of my family/parish life. What has happened to my baptismal call from years ago? That call is still there, and in the sight of God, it means the deepest truth of my life. If the mission of our baptism has been dormant, this year is a good time to bring it back to life. In this Year of Mercy, fill in your corporal and spiritual works of mercy on the pieces of paper, put them in the offering basket, and they will be carried up to the altar as part of your offerings of the week, and when the Book of Mercy comes to our parish in July, will be transcribed into it. -SUNDAY, DEC 27 -- Collections ... $ 344.40 CHRISTMAS ... $ 910.00 YEAR OF CONSECRATED LIFE: Pope Francis designated the period from Nov.30, 2014 through Feb. 2, 2016, as the Year of Consecrated Life, encouraging consecrated women and men to rejoice in and recommit themselves to their vocation, calling the whole church to thanksgiving for the witness and ministry of consecrated women and men, and inviting young Catholics to consider a religious vocation. Sister Alice Greer will give a reflection on Religious Life on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at St. Andrew's Church, at 10:00 am. - Fr. Kroker will be in Armstrong-Gull Bay for ministry this weekend. WEEKEND PARISH MINISTRY SCHEDULE Jan., 16, Sat., Reader - Louis Pelletier Cup: Edith Hoshizaki & Lucy Day Jan., 17 Sun., -Readers -1. Gail Roussin 2.
