Happy New Year!!! Alice McWilliams sent a pic from her cruise to Isla Roatan in the Caribbean this past November. Roatan is 30 miles north of Honduras. Silky-sand beaches and diamond-
clear seas…great vacation!!!
The picture below is from my good friend Kathy Shelts…it’s a “ya’ll” thing. Sometimes you just have to shake your head and smile!
The Tulsa/Muskogee areas
were hit with a snow storm.
This was on one of the road
signs. LOL…
Debbie Green recently took her family on a road trip to Waco to visit the Magnolia Farms store and silos. It was a fun filled “girls” weekend!!!
Happy New Year!

OKLAHOMA CITY CHAPTER
Sharon Eaton, Reporter
January 2017
Greetings from Oklahoma City!
The Oklahoma City chapter wishes everyone a very happy New Year. I know that I say the same thing every year – but where does the time go? It seems that we were just in Bartlesville enjoying convention and now we have had Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day and here we are in 2017. You know the saying about no matter how much things change – some things remain the same? That is how I see JPS. I joined JPS in Bartlesville in 1990. At the time, I was overwhelmed with all the people, activities, and volunteer opportunities. It took several years of being involved in my local chapter for me to understand the whole of JPS – that we were an organization of many different groups in several states. Then, after becoming involved at the National level, I saw an even bigger picture of JPS – yes, we are all different groups – but we are all the same. We value the principles that our organization represents and we work to the best of our abilities to represent those values in our individual chapters. So, yes, JPS has changed over the years – but no, we haven’t really changed. We have been doing charitable works in our communities since 1937 and we will continue to do so for many years to come.
2017 is going to be a great year for JPS and I am excited about the opportunities it offers. I look forward to seeing each of you in Amarillo, Texas in June 2017.
Sharon Eaton

January 2017
The Holidays have now passed, and many of us enjoyed gathering with family and friends
to remember good times from 2016. The Panhandle Chapter enjoyed a bountiful year and
celebrated with a Christmas Party at Happy State Bank. We had a great turnout. Thank
you Fran for scheduling the facility for our annual Christmas party and the meal was
delicious. A BIG THANK YOU to Jennifer Tollison and Darla Harriman for decorating
and providing the beautiful table decorations that were handcrafted and given as prizes.

JPS Board Party at Fran’s house
Fran graciously hosted the Board party again this year. Fran
always opens her home and welcomes the board members to
the Christmas party. She prepared chicken with all the
trimmings with fa la la la la drinks….. We were so full we
didn’t get to dessert; of course, Fran started describing the
dessert at the membership Christmas party and it was decided
that we messed up when we missed that dessert. Good
conversations about JPS fundraisers along with the move of
the Fall Bake Sale to the plant. The move to the plant gave JPS
additional funds because we sold out before noon and didn’t
have to discount any of our items. JPS was able to provide
assistance to the various charities in our community for 2016
along with some additional assistance to persons in need
along the way. Fran encouraged all the officers for upcoming
2017 fund raising. The board members exchanged gifts and
wished each other a Merry Christmas and Happy, Healthy,
and Safe New Year.
NEWS FROM DARLA
Congratulations to Ross Harriman
(son of Willie & Darla) on his first
publication. His article/paper “The
King Arrives, but for What
Purpose?” was published in the
Journal of Theological
Interpretation, Volume 10, No. 2 –
Fall, 2016. Quite an
accomplishment for a young man
working toward a doctorate
program and becoming a professor
of Biblical Studies. Look for more
articles from this man, as God
continues to direct and work in his
life.

Future…75th National Convention, Amarillo, TX – June 23-24, 2017
Hosted by the Panhandle Chapter in Amarillo, TX
The Panhandle convention team is busy checking out the local
attractions for your pre-convention pleasure. Since we haven't voted
on the activity, we can only provide internet information about the
dinner activities that we are considering:
Los Cedros Ranch, located 7-1/2 miles South of Claude Hwy on
Pullman Road (East of Amarillo).
meals-catering/ ).
The Chuck Wagon Meals and entertainment evening is $36.99 ea and
includes:
Delicious food, ranch setting, cowboy and cowgirl entertainment - a
true western experience at beautiful Los Cedros Ranch on the
Northeast rim of Palo Duro Canyon.
Includes:
.Chuck wagon Style Meal
.Cowboy Music Entertainment
.Activities for the Little Wranglers and Little Cowgirls!
.Working Cowboy History and Skills Demonstration. Authentic Chuck
wagon History and Viewing. History of Palo Duro Canyon, The Horse,
Apache and Comanche Indians, The Spanish, Charles Goodnight, The
Cowboy Way, Chuck wagon, and priceless ranch experience!
.Great photo opportunities on ranch, with horses, Western Stuff, and
with Western views
Option for handicap persons and a covered facility for inclement
weather. An option other than attending TEXAS at Palo Duro Canyon.
Another option being considered is the River Breaks Ranch
experience: http://www.riverbreaksranch.com/
Approximately $30 for the "hayride" (wagon pulled by tractor) tour of
the property, horse races (letting the yearlings run and guests 'bet' or
guess which ones will win/place/show), dinner and music in the dining
hall, and shopping in the small gift shop. This event is closer to town -
being just North of Amarillo city limits (on NW side).
Again, we have not decided on the pre-convention activity. Just
checking out all the great options in our area.
