THE BEATITUDES

The beatitudes sketch a portrait of Jesus Christ and describe his charity; they express the Vocation of the faithful associated with the glory of his Passion and his Resurrection; they illuminate the actions and attitudes that are characteristic of Christian life; they are paradoxical promises that hold hope in tribulations; they announce to the disciples the blessings and rewards already incurred; they are inaugurated in the life of the Virgin Mary and all the saints. At Mount Sinai, God the Father, delivered to Moises, the tablets with the Ten Commandments whose fulfillment would be a sign that the people of God were faithful to the covenant with God. Those ten marvelous, wise commandments have governed the life of of his chosen people, of all of us Christians, and for a long time, the entire world. Modern man overlooks it and dictates his own law that dehumanizes and destroys. On the mount of the Beatitudes, Jesus gives us his commandments, of which He, Himself, is a model and an example, the Beatitudes, our catechism tells us, sketches the face of Jesus, that is to say, they are applied to all who follow Him as a path, truth, and life. The beatitudes also sketch our faces, the face of those of us that are disciples, and we live in a difficult reality, with the hope of the Kingdom of Heaven. The Beatitudes are also a vocation, a calling of our human nature that becomes a divine calling and a vocation to salvation. We want to be happy, we need to be happy, we try to be happy, and we go through life opening doors that many times are false, and instead of happiness, they give us destruction and emptiness. The beatitudes are presented to us wrapped with hope, they are for those that know Jesus, that know they are his promises that will indeed be fulfilled. They imply a great faith, a full trust in the one who announces it. Will the promises added to the beatitudes be realized? They are united in the realization of the kingdom of heaven preached by Jesus, who will have his fullness after this life, but at the same time it is a reality that is lived to the extent that we can make our world become the Kingdom of Jesus. The Virgin Mary and each and every saint, canonized or not, gave testimony in life of that happiness promised by Jesus, that is why we call them the Beatitudes, that is happiness. Jesus is the motive and cause of our happiness, He is the Beatitudes, it is our divine vocation to be happy.

LAS BIENAVENTURANZAS

Román Las bienaventuranzas dibujan el rostro de Jesucristo y describen su caridad; expresan la vocación de los fieles asociados a la gloria de su Pasión y de su Resurrección; iluminan las acciones y las actitudes características de la vida cristiana; son promesas paradójicas que sostienen la esperanza en las tribulaciones; anuncian a los discípulos las

bendiciones y las recompensas ya incoadas; quedan inauguradas en la vida de la Virgen María y de todos los santos (Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica 1717). En el monte Sinaí el Padre Dios le entregó a Moisés las tablas de la ley con los diez mandamientos cuyo cumplimiento sería signo de que el pueblo de Dios era fiel a la alianza con Dios. Esos diez mandamientos maravillosamente sabios han regido la vida de ese pueblo escogido, de nosotros los cristianos y, durante mucho tiempo, del mundo entero. El hombre moderno lo pasa por alto y dicta su propia ley que deshumaniza y destruye. En el monte de las Bienaventuranza Jesús nos da sus mandamientos de los cuales él mismo es modelo y ejemplo, las Bienaventuranzas, nos dice nuestro Catecismo, dibujan el rostro de Jesús, es decir, se le aplican y se aplican a todo aquel que lo sigue como Camino, Verdad y Vida. Las bienaventuranzas dibujan también nuestro rostro, el rostro de los que somos discípulos y vivimos una realidad difícil con la esperanza del Reino de los cielos. Las Bienaventuranzas son también una vocación, un llamado de nuestra naturaleza humana que se vuelve llamado divino y vocación a la salvación. Queremos ser felices, necesitamos ser felices, nos esforzamos en serlo y vamos por la vida abriendo puertas que muchas veces son falsas y, en lugar de felicidad nos dan destrucción y vacío. Las Bienaventuranzas se nos presentan envueltas en la esperanza, son para aquellos que conociendo a Jesús, saben que sus promesas ciertamente se realizarán. Implican una gran fe, una confianza plena en aquel que las anuncia. ¿Las promesas añadidas a cada bienaventuranza se realizarán? Están unidas a la realización del Reino de los cielos predicado por Jesús que tendrá, ciertamente, su plenitud después de esta vida, pero al mismo tiempo es una realidad que se va viviendo en la medida en la que logramos que nuestro mundo se vaya convirtiendo en el Reino de Jesús. La Virgen María y cada uno de los santos, canonizados o no, dieron testimonio en vida de esa felicidad prometida por Jesús, por eso los llamamos bienaventurados, es decir, felices. Jesús es motivo y causa de nuestra felicidad, él es la bienaventuranza, es nuestra vocación divina a ser felices.

LA PRESENTACION DEL SEÑOR.- El Jueves 2 de Febrero celebramos la Presentación de Jesús al Templo. El anciano Simeón lo reconoció como ¨LUZ DE LAS NACIONES¨, es por eso que se invita a los fieles a que traigan velas que podrán encender en sus hogares como la presencia de es Luz de Cristo que viene a iluminar nuestras vidas. Por eso, esta Celebración también es conocida como ¨LA CANDELARIA¨. En ese día, se acostumbra traer las imágenes del Niño Jesús que se le ha levantado del Nacimiento Navideño y se le viste como Rey para ser bendecido. También bendeciremos la verdadera imagen del Niño Jesús en sus hijos de carne y hueso. La Misa será a las 6 p.m. en la Parroquia de San José. Les recordamos a los que encontraron el muñequito en la Rosca de Reyes que deben de traer los tamales para compartir al final de la Misa.

RETIRO DE SANACION POST ABORTO.- Quienes por alguna circunstancia tuvieron que practicar un aborto, queda una herida en el alma que es difícil sanar. PRESENTATION OF THE LORD - Thursday, February 2, 2017 we will celebrate the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple. Simeon recognized him as “LIGHT OF NATIONS”, that is why the faithful are invited to bring candles that can be lit in their homes, as the presence of light signifies Christ who comes to enlighten our lives. This celebration is also known as “CANDLEMASS”. On that day, it is customary to bring images of the Child Jesus that has risen from Christmas Nativity and dress him as King in preparing him to be blessed. We also bless the true image of Jesus in your children. We will have the regular Mass at 7 a.m. in the Rectory and 6 p.m. in the Church. After the Mass we will enjoy the tamales from those who found the doll in the Kings Cake on Epiphany.

REQUESTING FOR A SACRAMENT.- If you want to request any Sacrament or Celebration like Baptism, Wedding, Anniversary or Funeral, please call the Parish Secretary from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. or leave your information at the voice mail when you call the Parish Number.

MASS AND BENEDICTION.- Every first Friday of the month we have the Mass and Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament at Saint Joseph Church. Come this Friday, February 3, at 7 p.m.

LET US PRAY.- For the president and all the leaders in government, that in accord with the will of God, they will work together in making decisions for the common good of all the people, and that they will always speak and act with deep respect for the dignity of every human person, giving special attention to the needs of the poor, let us pray to the Lord.

CELEBRANT SINGERS.- It is an extraordinary musical group with 46 women and men who sing marvelous and travel through the world giving a positive message of joy in the service of God. They will be with us on Saturday March 24 to sing in the evening Mass and then giving us a Concert that promise to be an unique experience of energy and joy. Part of their experience is to be housed with host families to have the opportunity of knowing more of the culture of every place they are visiting.
