Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play major league baseball. He was an All-Star in the Negro Leagues before he broke the “Color Barrier” in 1947. He was an amazing baseball player and a great man because he took a lot of abuse and never lost his temper. His number 42 has been retired in every ballpark in America. He was born in 1919, and died in 1972.
