In what could be deemed as a fitting result to our match against the Stars last week, we scored a draw and once again rose out of the ashes of defeat like the Phoneix.

BROWN, After the Stars held an early advan-. G6t'g[~J~~NG tage, the Bombers fought back and

the match went virtually kick for kick with neither side being able to hold the lead for any long period, until late in the third term when Ardlethan turned on the power and held what seemed to be decisive lead to go into the last term with. The Bombers were not to be outdone however and showed plenty of pluck and courage and the match became what spectators have come to expect from the local derby.

Peter Manning bulldozed has way into the awards taking out the Bowllng Club, whilst other award winners were Jamie Gordon the Come Alive, Rod Daniher the Shirt, Mark Fisher the Pewter, Hans the Vino, Leo Lucas the Video and Alan Bell won the Socks.

The Reserves were well defeated in their encounter but certainly left their mark, and no doubt will be looking forward to a rematch in the second round. Thank you to all of the Ul 9s who lined up again to make up the numbers, you'.11 all be pretty fit by the end of the season! Steve Colwill won the Bowling Club award whilst Lynden Walker took out the ViJeo, Ian Colwill the Pewter and Brian Gordon the -Socks.

Whilst the Ul 9s also had a large loss it's good to see them in there trying and at least keeping our three sides together. We seem to have lost quite a few players and this makes it harder on the lower grades when players are being taken from them to make up the numbers. Keep up the good work fellas! Phil Maguire won the Bowling Club Award, Brett Prentice the $10 and Andrew Paton the Socks.

At home again this week and it's the Swans who make the long trip to visit us. Let's make it fruitless one for them and take out all three grades ourselves.

Last Sunday with three good wins sees the Swans moving up the ladder. In a dogged affair in the Under 19s the young Swans, lead by the Italian stallion Paul Romagnolo and Jamie Bennett, won by 4 goals. Coach Horsey Gardiner relishing the fact he

Dad's Army, after a close win against Tigers, blitzed the toothless Bulldogs in a great team effort. Not to be outdone by his son T.B. (Silver) Bennett kicking five goals and Ritchie Turner (Dons Pewter) shone out. Just to prove that archeology and ancient history is still alive it was noted that the odd dropkick stab pass was used to good effect.

Coach Ian Geddes and assistant coach Scott Barber (Dons Pewter) and their sides humiliation of a brave Bulldog side was the highlight of last Sunday. An all round effort saw a good 8 goal victory. Geddes at C.H.B. obviously showed his organising ability and instilled great confidence into his younger brigade. The high flying Barber with 5 goals and having a hand in several others was back to his crowd pleasing best.

Today we bomb the Bombers. UP THE SWANNIES!

Both the Firsts and the Seconds completed the first three games of the season as undefeated co-competitions leaders, and this week we put those records on the line when we gird our loins for the battles with the Lions.

It took the Seconds half a game to unwind against the Hawks , but once we lifted the GREEN, WHITE v brakes it was all one way traffic. Many play-ers ~ad excellent second halves but there were only a couple who put m for the enhre match. Of these , John (Ob) Knoxie was as impassable as the Great Wall of China in the backline while along side of him Danny (Fosters) Farrell , despite being hampered by bottle fatigue, had more kicks than a temperance advocate at a publican's picnic. Actually it was a woman who drove Danny to drink initially • and he hasn 't stopped thanking her since . Others to perform well were Vinnie Leary, who burrowed-in like a tenacious mole ; while Mick (Horebag) Carey, who shoots for goal with all the confidence of a one-legged man in a bum kicking contest , added a great deal of bite to the forward line.

UNDER 19s

The Firsts again did it the hard way, coming from behind to snatch victory for the second week in a row, Taking three quarters to get going against the Lions will spell trouble with a capital T . The Buchanan bothers brought home the fin;t trifecta in Gras• shopper history when they won all three awards. In the process they brought a smile to Dad's face wider than that of a white pointer eying a choice morsel. Incidentally the whole football dub is rapt that Jack is back on his feet and we all wish him weU and hope that his recovery is total and complete so that we have that rough head around to annoy us for many, many years to come.

Of the three , Ian won the mug for a superb game in the three different positions - especially at C.H.B. in the last quarter ; Brian displayed wonderful maturity fizzing around the forward line like a well shaken bottle of champers, while the human battering ram, Bull-legs (who has added considerably to his macho image by wearing his mums girdle) caused havoc in the backline with a bone busting, gut crunching, flesh flailing, spine splintering display of awesome devastation. It was also pleasing see Kevin Williams , who combined the speed of an electrified gazelle with the unerring accruacy of a space shuttle computer, win Hullies ' radio award .

This week all three grades face their moment of truth . Let's make it a glorious day for the green and whites!

fith, and a renewed effort should be undertaken by all to boost support for the season.

In the Seniors our concentra-RED, WHITE & tion lapses allowed Griffith to

BLUE dictate terms, and their marking ~nd running skills around the ground were superior to ours. Our aggression and willingness to play hard ar_i<;l fair ~ere pleasing features of game, but our pos11Ion k1ckmg shows room for improvement. Geoff Harrison wins the Miltons Gear award for this week.

The Seconds were simply undermanned around the ground, but put up a gallant showing under difficult conditions. The Melbourne Tractor Parts mug was awarded to Garry Hoffman for a gutsy display in both seconds and firsts.

Likewise the U19s showed courage in playing ~ut th~ game right to the end with 15 on the field, mcludmg our two U12 boundary umpires. Congratulations to all those who played for showing the way for the 2nds and lsts. This weeks award of socks goes to all those who played. A great team effort, and well done!

quot!! of the week from 'Astrodamous' -Make hall while the sun shines.

I?on't forget coming events: the big one on the social calendar being the Talent Night Friday June 7, including three cpurse meal at a cost of $10 per hea?. There will only be limited room, so get your tickets early. There will also be a Womens Auxilliary meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 7.30 p.m. - new members are most welcome to attend.

This weekend we will be without our State representatives who do battle in Hobart against a strong Tasmania side. Good luck fellas - and don't get injured!!!

That should also be the quote of the week. It seems lady luck has deserted us again when you look at our walking wounded. We could almost make up another team of the blokes unavailable through injurv.

This week we play old rivals Turvey Park Bulldogs. If our a wm is needed it is this week.

FARRER PRESIDENT

THANKS 1 wish to congratu

late and thank Clubs for their strong support to the NSW v Queensland game on April 21.

Through your strong support the League grossed $5,960

from the catering of which we paid catering rights to the NSW Football League. It is too early to reveal our profit from the day as accounts have not been finalised. I wish to thank Lance Seaman for his untiring effort in continuing to supply food as supplies diminished - thanks Lance.

The League congratulates Rod Parker, George Galvin, Jan Male and Stephen Cole on representing the State. This is a great achievement in a footballer's career and we are very proud of these players and wish them all the best for the remaining Fosters Shield games.

To the. Farrer League players who represented the League against Sydney I thank them for a great effort. It brought many memories back of previous Farrer v Sydney League clashes. Unfortunately we lost this game but to come from 40 points down was a great effort. As one person said, it was like the Farrer of old. I would like to say that with the support we received from the trainers, coach Jan McKenzie, the players and the Clubs - for that game is the start of bigger and better things to come for the new Farrer Football League.

Thanks again to all clubs, players and supporters of our Farrer Football League.

JOHN YATES, President FFL

VFL MEDIA LIAISON OFFICER PAULA HEMPTON

----COUNTRY TEAM WINS CHALLENGE MATCH

The Third annual VFL champion league challenge match held on Anzac Day between the Goulburn Valley and Footscray District football leagues was a triumph for country football. As in the previous two challenge matches between the Ballarat and Eastern Districts football leagues, the country league ran out easy winners and looked to be the far superior team.

Goulburn Valley won the game 27 .12 .17 4 to Footscray's 11.15.81 and although they were marginally outscored in the final quarter gave the visiting side a lesson in football skills and never looked to be in any danger.

The match between the Victorian Country and Victorian Metropolitan football league champion leagues was part of Victoria's 150t Anniversary celebrations and the VFL provided prize money of $5,000. Goulburn Valley won $3,500while Footscray and District collected $1,500.

The game was played in good conditions at Deakin Reserve Shepparton and was attended by numerous VCFL and VMFL officials as well as VFL officials including Assistant General Manager Alan Schwab, Development Manager Kevin Sheehan and Administration Manager Don Hanly.

meet them or even surpass them. So long as the standards are reasonable and within the range of your current level of capability, you will have a good chance of success. Set higher standards as you achieve and improve.

You can set standards which you can work towards by yourself. There is no need to have any other opponent other than yourself to seek this type of improvement. You beat yourself by beating your own previous best standard.

Having someone to compete against however, providing you have realistic expectancies when you set your standards in this contest, can be very good for you because it motivates your performance and the preparation you put into it.

You need a worthy opponent. If you don't have an opponent to try your skill against, you may never realise just how you are performing. For example, you may win but feel you didn't perform well. This will spur you tq increase your efforts.

You may lose but feel that you performed very well. You lost because your op_pone_nt

was too good. For you to do so well in the contest will make you very satisfied and well motivated to continue in your striving for improvement.

If you lose badly when you have done your best, you should not be disappointed and lose faith in your inner contest to improve. You may have set your standards too high for your current level of development.

Therefore, never be frightened of failure in competition against others. You haven't failed if you have done your best and performed up to your standard.

What you're doing in competition is trying yourself out against others. You can expect to be inferior to some and superior to others. The real point to competition is not so much to conquer another person as it is to defeat your lesser self. This is what spurs you to seek self-improvement.

Accept the fact of what your current level of attainment is. It is probably only good enough at the moment to enable you to perform at a certain standard where you win some and lose some.

Enjoy your performance at that level, but don't necessarily be satisfied with it. Strive for and relish the satisfaction that comes from even tiny improvements in your performance and in your position relative to others. In this way you can be a constant winner, and when you meet that opponent again, victory could be yours because you have worked harder and experienced many, many inner successes since the previous competition.

And remember, if you're not practising, your opponents of the future may be practising hard, and when you meet them, they might beat you. There is no success without a lot of hard work.

TOOHEVSFARRERFOOTBALLLEAGUE EDITORIAL

.. The big scores and high

.•. winning margins in last week's round of matches ==- must surely again have === aroused some thought and speculation towards 'evening up' the competi

. tions . .,...,..-In Division One, the average winning margin

, by senior teams was 107 points - that's eighteen goa~! ·

In Division Two, it was f ven greater. The· winners did ·so on average, by 140 points -twenty-three goals! , Is it time, yet again, for a restructure of the League, or was last Saturday an unusual situa-tion. -

Certainly one hopes that the winning margins are somewhat reduced, or again there's bound to be the cry - not just from the losers - to try and 'do something about it'.

But what? Already in Divisiori,, One Collingul/ie

Ashmont and M. C. U. appear to be a cut above the rest. Does this mean that they should be 'booted out'?. It seems the RFL don't want them, so where do they go!

Or, does it mean hard work on the part of the other clubs to try and raise their standards to that of the top two.

Perhaps, it can be argued that CollingullieAshmont have beaten only the bottom two sides and a test of their real strength will be this afternoon when they meet Bare/Ian United at Bare/Ian.

M. C. U. on the other hand have well beaten teams which .have well founded aspirations of making the four. Today however, M. C. U. too, could be well tested when they meet longstanding rivals T.R. Y. C. who always seem to make it tough for the Goannas. M. C. U. could be without several key players and their coach, due to State duty, which will try the depth of their player strength.

Whitton, Rtvcoll and Junee-Kapooka also -. seem as though they will dominate Division Two. The season will prove tough for the other four sides, although Cootamundra is always a different strength and a real stumbling block at home.

Only time will tell, but it does seem as though the compeitions will remain 'lopsi_ded' again this year. ·

m Last weeks effort was little short of _ pathetic. I, an_d many others, had real

ly.thought that we would develop consistency this year. We know we can play 200% better than that, although

BLA~f R~R~HITE Marrar must receive congratulations for the way in which they were desperate for the ball all day. Peter 'Stallion'

Yates never gave up all day and his efforts won him the Mug. Big Dick won the Encouragement award.

The 2nds battled all day but finally recorded a sound win. The players must realize that they must keep the pressure on all day if they are to be a threat this year. Coco won the Mug and new player Kevin Cochrane won the Encouragement award. Well done Kevin on your first year of footy.

The 19s showed no desperation, desire or will to win so they were defeated in a game that they should have won. Ken Blake won the Magpie of the Week and Paul Taylor,. in his first game with us, won the Riverina Spraying Service Towel Award.

Committee and players have 200 Club tickets available so if approached please support the Club and purchase one. It will be drawn on May 18 at a social after the Gullie game.

Other coming events include the Footballers Bowls Day on Sunday, May 26 at The Rock Bowling Club. This day needs· no introduction and hopefully will be well supported again.

This week we welcome our near rivals Mango. If we re-group, get ourselves in the right frame of mind, we have every chance to knock em off.

MANGOPLAH HOTEL YOUR HOSTS ARE PHILL & CARLA BISHOP

Have an enjoyable evening with friends. Join the group, chat over drinks. The atmosphere is one

reason you'll like the place. TOOHEYS & CARL TON ON TAP- PH. 285702

On a glorious Saturday and with the Mangoplah Oval l~oking a. picture we entertained our distant fnends from Temora and happily for us recorded three good wins.

A rather depleted U19s side met a very capable and full strength Temora side BLUE & GOLD and just managed the hold on for well BANDS

· deserved win. Congratulations Temora for fielding such a strong side and for the way the boys fought the game out. A pity such a fine exhibition of football was tarnished by the foul language and childish antics of one clown! David 'Vegemite' Bedgood played a blinder to win the Peter Matthews Towel and was well supported by Colin McCann and Michael Post.

The Reserves turned in another great display to win by 30 goals. Jimmy Brennan made a welcome and spectacular return to M.C.U. winning the Tolland Hotel Towel; John Tutty thoroughly deserved the mug and Gary 'Duck' Davis collected 11 goals in a fine exhibition of forward play.

In the main game it was vintage Stephen Cole who put on a • dazzling display of high marking, elusive running & turning and accurate kicking. Stephen clearly took out the Mangoplah Hotel award and was ably supported by Trevor (short & curly!) Ion and the unstoppable Danny Galvin.

With our Reserves in such top form there is no room for complacency in the Seniors, there are any number of players knocking on the door eager to show their talents in first grade.

Today we visit our neighbours T.R.Y.C. who will be smarting after last weeks defeat - a real danger game for us so let's make a big effort to take the points in all three grades.

Come to our Family Country & Western Dance at the Mango Hall after the Mar?ar game. B.B.Q. tea and refreshments available, and Country & Western dress.

TEMORA KANGAROOS

BLUE & WHITE STRIPES

The 27th of April '85 will not go down in Temora's history book as a great day. Mango outgunned us in all three grades. ~n First Grade we played well m patches but lacked M?ngo's co.n- · sistency. The women s favounte player Glen Solley once again

showed his skills to take the mug. Ian 'Jap' Bent stole the vino and the Laurie Mathews award was won by Geoff Winkley.

The Reserves will be taken out the back and shot! Those who played well enough to survive execution were Dominic Rodwell (mug), Buck Firman (socks) and Peter Wood (wine).

The Ul9s showed improved skills to go down by only a handful of goals. Neil Cole won the Grand Hotel award and Chris 'I love to yap' McLelland won the other award. Coach Kerry Wallace certainly has the boys on the right track.

Even the netball girls got into the act with a double defeat. That's loyalty for you.

Ragers over the past few weeks included Leanne Henman who loves to win the mug, Jan 'Jap' Bent who loves to drink, and Glen Solley who just loves to love.

This week sees the Dons at home, so let's extract the digital from a certain place and reverse last weeks results.

BAREl,.LAN KANGAROOS Two wins on Saturday against

the Dons, which doesn't make us 'premiership' contenders yet, but it's nice to win your first points. Congratulations to the award

BLUE & WHITE winners Allan· Evans won the STRIPES Bob Jane-Bill Biron award, and

the grin on his face suggested that he is not about to give up that roving position again without one hell of a fight. Ian Lucas took out the Kangaroo Towel with a positive display of excellent football, Peter Conlan once again displayed class and along with Brian Conlan, Mark Flagg and Ian Male stood out in a team which won in most postions all day, but the Dons never gave in and with that 'spirit' success will come.

Our 2nd XVIII best player award went to John Cullinane with a fine display which suggests he will keep all players in firsts honest. Jim Williams played his best game yet, backing up all day looking for work. Paul Flagg and Rus Sullivan also turned in very good games.

Today we welcome the 'Demons' and a good showing is a must, so come on fellas let's give it the 'shot' this game deserves.

Last Saturday - well we won lsts ~ & 2nds on the North shore and although our 19s had to fo_rfeit ( due partly to a few players with repre-sentative comm1tments) we almost won the encounter with a smaller REo. WHITE v number of players (11 to 19 l'm lead to beleive).

Awards- lsts: Meyers Transport Mug, D. Hilton; Nardies Dinner, Frank 'Fennech' Kennedy; Crossroads A. Kennedy; Encouragement, K. Cooke (well deserved). 2nds: Lewington Fertiliser Mug, 'General' Lashbrook; Crossroads, G. Lee; Nardies, R. Salmon. U19s: Wagga Picture Frames Mug, J. Quilter; Crossroads, P. Gillett; Encouragement, Ken Cox.

A lot of our committee and· supporters where moving very steadily Saturda}'. morning late, a~ter leaving the hall Saturday morning not much earher. A great night was had at the Entertainment Night.

Start bringing in those meat competition tickets everybody, we would like to draw them on Saturday May 11 against Temora.

I believe Spike wants to change his job. He was knocking on a door very late at night in Glenfield after the interstate game. When the door opened he stated he needed communications (maybe he wants to work at Telecom instead of Electricity Commis-sion - drink up Spike). .

The Club and supporters extend deepest sympathy to the Burgess family in their recent loss. This week Barellan, let's come home with a clean slate. CARN THE DEMONS!

An encouraging win by th~ First Grade last week, but the main highlight was the overall performance of the club on the field wise, financially and socially. One Saturday does not make a season however and there are a lot more games to win, a lot more

money to raise and a lot more fun to be had: Haven't the U19s improved. A good win,

maybe they can string a few together now. Best players were 'Fred' Furner and Craig Whitmore.

The Seconds went down narrowly with Wes and 'Joe' Fox best.

The First Grade were best served by Anthony Baker who had a·great game. Bakes is that mean now that when he was awarded the pewter President Ricko was overheard telling him that he could drink out of it but not eat it.

Neil Turner and Butters also played leading roles in a good win. Others to show out were Robbie (warming bottles all night has helped his stamina) coach Tony, Danny, Grep, Rocky and Hopper - I'll put 'everyone' to save writing another 14 names.

This weeks quiz question is 'Who was the well known sponsor seen staggering against the bar late Saturday night" - clue: he was overhead telling a group of sober gentlemen that ERA does not stand for Ean Refrain from Alcohol.

Today an important three games against North Wagga.

Last weeks round was one that all Saints supporters would rather forget. Our First Grade were given a football lesson by Collingullie. The Reserves went down after putting up a good fight and the Under 19s won on a

RED, WHITE & BLACK

forfeit after the Gullie could not make up the numbers.

Award winners last week were - lsts: Saint of the Week and Leagues Club Award, Garry Crouch; North Wagga Ampol award, Robert Margosis; Norma & Les Day awards, Ray Lucas, Leon Smythe, Warren Hancock, Garry Cousley and Greg McDonald. 2nds: Saint of the Week & Union Club Award, Darren Mclnerny; Golden Fleece Fitzmaurice St award, Rob Blencoe; Black Swan award, Brennan Crouch; Island View Store award, Chris Chambers; Encouragement award, Tom Reid. U19s: Saint of the Week & Union Club award, Mat Pollard; Black Swan award, Robbie Gibbons; Flanigans Taxi Truck award, Tom Reid.

This week we travel to Marrar and with a lot more commitement and effort should come away with the points.

The old cliche goes - the Jess said about last weeks game the better . But perhaps it's time to take a Jong hard look at ourselves both as a dub and individually. Last Saturday's loss was merely a emulation of what has been in the wind for quite some time. The fact that the same players

and committemen are having the carry the club both during the week and on Saturdays , points to a Jack of committment - one of the most important ingredients in successful football. Obviously the time has now arrived for everyone involved in the club to stand up and be counted. I'm sure if we all get behind our coaches Peter and Wayne and lend Goog a little support we are sure to be a force to be reckoned with come finals time .

Perhaps the shinning light on Saturday was the form shown by Terry Finucane in the Reserves who really showed what is required . The Seniors effort was one of the saddest for many season and is already forgotten .

Today, sadly sees the final appearance with the club of Tony Foley. One of our most servicable players over the last two seasons . We wish him all the best for the future.

We welcome new club Uranquinty to Clarke Oval today and invite them to stay for a couple afterwards and sample our hospitality. Unfortunately they will get nothing of the sort on the field as we really have a point to prove as we begin the climb back to the top.

DIVISION , ___ _ RIVCOLL BUSHPIGS

[]] G'day Pigfans. Well, this has got

to be the best start to a season for quite a few years. The Firsts are sitting pretty at the top of the ladder with three good wins, while the Seconds have bagged two wins and a draw. RED & WHITE

STRIPES Last week saw the Seconds de

feat RAAF on a forfeit, while the Firsts romped home by 113 points, the final scores reading Bushpigs 30.28.208 to RAAF 15.5.95. With the Piggies playing below top strength and form we can only assume that bigger wins are in store.

Shaun 'Sox' Durbridge won the Pewter last week after seeminly having the ball on a string. He had more grabs than a voyeur in a brothel. The Red Steer award went to Slopey, who had a direction-finder in his boot and bagged eight goals. Jim 'Sooty' Suidgeest also got a power of goals and showed the RAAF boys what high-flying was all about. He snared the Port award. 'Filthy' Phil McIntyre received his third award from as many games, this time a Pizza. Filthy showed more spirit than a rum distillery. Again every player excelled themselves in a good team win.

This week we're up against our old foes JuneeKapooka. Both grades should be close matches. The Firsts have a couple of scores to settle and will be out to prove a point. The Seconds are as keen as mustard to defeat the Bulldogs and reverse the results of last seasons games. Everyone is welcome at the Red Steer after the football for a few 'quiet' drinks, so see you there.

The first bus trip of the season saw us venture to Cootamundra for two well deserved wins. Well done to the Reserves, they played well all day and eventually ran out comfortable winners over a spirited Coota side. Keith Bevan played another good game despite a slight arm RED.B~~tE & injury with top displays put in by young Tony Donoghue, A. Blanchard, S. Edson and B. Holliss. Well done by the side overall. Players who will be considered for senior selection after two great games on the trot in the 2nd XVIII are Graham Chea! Gary Fairbank, Mick Taylor, Kevin McA!ister and Moo Cattel.

Two wins after the first two games sees us sitting in second position after a faily tough introduction to season 1985 but at this st~ge of th~ season all you can do is win. All the boys were delighted with the way Joey led the way with guts and determination against his old side (top game mate!). The same goes for Robbie Hunter, the small ground really doesn't suit our game plan but the effort to work hard for the full four quarters eventually worn Coota down and we ended up 16 pomt victors on the day.

Strong_gam~ by R<;>d Lawerson down forward, helped the forward lme kick a winning score, other players to do well at that end of the ground were Craig Orr, Mark Spencer and Wayne Howe whose three goals after half time was invaluable. The back line was well served by Bill Preston, Craig Coutts, Rob Reed and Alan Lang who played his first game for the Bulldogs (welcome to the club mate}.

Award winners on the day were: lsts: R. Hunter 16, R. Lawerson 16, J. Hull 23, B. Preston 7, M. Edson 6, G. Lang 2, A. Cameron 2, G. Couttes, W. Howe, M. Donaldson 1. 2nds: Jumper, G. Fairbank; T-Shirt, Moo Cattel; Socks, A. Blanchard. Tune-up/free service went to R. Cattel.

To Thoma from all the boys (broke his leg on Saturday} -qmck n:covery mate!

A belated well done to Macca and the boys in the Farrer side top effort .

8 Well what a percentage boosting win, but to take 2 quarters to get going is not good enough. Our bad kicking for goal when not under pressure is a poor sign, also for the backline to allow 4

BLAi'ito~HITE easy gaols can't be allowed against stronger opposition. Gra

ham (Henry) Ingram played what would have to be his best game for the club. Jamie (Combat) Morley playing his first senior game turned in a real beauty. Jamie has worked really hard this year and is starting to reap the benefits. Award winners were $40, Rod Flack playing a dominating role in the forward line, Jamie Morley on the centre wing $30, keep at it Bat; and Alan (Stick) Argus at C.H.B. $20, who got so board he asked lead singer out of Low Profile Don Hillam to sing him a few songs.

Today we face the RAAF at home, a tight knit team, who we can't let get a start like last week. Let's all fire up today and show our loyal supporters our true colours. Don't forget to support our 2nd XVIII sponsors Peter & Kim down at the cafe. It would also be appreciated if the 2nds supported the lsts more with water joeys and cold towels etc., at the¼ time breaks, rather than heading straight for the pub! How about it fellas?!

Well that's it fellas, we have had our holiday for the season, so let's now settle down and show everyone what we can really do.

Last week with all the absentees we could only field one senior side and a patched up one at that. Even so, the boys battled hard all day and

BLUE & WHITE BANDS

gave the Bushpigs something to think about when next we meet them with a full side.

That dynamic duo Derek 'the Butcher' Boyce and Peter 1Super Puss' Lambie were in top form taking this weeks Shanty Bistro and Hotel awards. Other top efforts saw Harry Triangle' Tavlaridis take out the American Dry Cleaners award and Col 'The Rock' Keast snared the 'McDonalds' award .

The Under 19s also had a patched up side which had to struggle all day against the S.W.T. boys. Ken 'Willow' Wilson never gave up all day winning him the 'Allonville Motel' award, Mark 'Socceroo' Bull showed how determination can make up for experience winning him the 'Golden Fleece' award. Dave Eleveld showed good form against hard opposition to take the 'Chirpy Chick' award.

This week the Seniors travel down to Boree Creek and are keen for a win, in both sides. Kev Moore will buy all the Seconds a beer if they win, with 20 straws. The U19s are home to Collingullie-A. on Sunday and invite everyone down to see them show true form, as they are hungry for their first win of the season.
