Coronavirus: Information for Duval 

Count Public Schools Families 

No cases of coronavirus have been identified in Florida and currently the risk of infection is very low for the general public. While risk is low, Duval County Public Schools is in close communication with the Florida Department of Health to keep the public aware of the most current recommendations from the Florida Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Full flyer attached to my

Mile Maker

The Mile Maker and Field Day will take place on Friday, March 6th.  We need volunteers to help with the 

water station and other coordination during the Mile Maker and to help with the field day activities on

Did you take pictures of your child and his/her friends at Boosterthon? Peace Day? Field Trips? The 

yearbook committee loves to receive pictures from parents to use in the yearbook.  

If you would like to upload pictures of your child to be considered for use in the yearbook, follow the 

directions below: 

1 Go to commpe.pictavo.com 2 Click on “Create an Account” button, which is located in the black box at the top of the page. 3 Enter the state, city and school name in the appropriate boxes OR enter 87205 in the school ID # 

box. 4 Fill in your information (name, role, email address and password). Click on “Create Account.” 

You must verify your email in order to log in.  5 Once logged in, click on “Upload Photos”. 

 

   

6 Select your child’s teacher on the left side of the page. 7 Click on the blue “Upload Photos” button that is located above the list of teacher names. 8 Select the photo that you would like to upload.  9 Type in the name of your child in the box labeled “Tags”. It is not necessary to include the date 

the photo was taken. 10 Scroll down and click on the blue “Upload Photos” button. Your photo should now be submitted 

for consideration of use by the yearbook staff.  **Please only upload pictures taken at school or school functions (field trips, chorus, Boosterthon, etc.). 

Pictures of your child at home will not be considered. If you have questions about uploading pictures, 

please contact Sandy Gerard at gerards@duvalschools.org. 

All ads for the yearbook must be purchased on the Pictavo website at commpe.pictavo.com by 3/1/20. 

You must also submit the designed ad no later than 3/1/20. 

The yearbook site we are using this year is great for building ads!  It is much better than the PicGrid we 

were using last year.  Just log into the account you used to purchase a yearbook or upload photos to 

purchase an ad.  Once you have purchased an ad, your “account” will have a feature with a link to build 

your ad.  It does not allow you to build an ad until you purchase it.  You can choose from premade 

templates, backgrounds, and find an easy link to upload the photos you want to include.  Once you finish 

building the ad, you click submit and it sends it directly to the yearbook staff.  If you have any questions,

The school year is zooming by, but don’t forget to slow down and stop by the school counseling blog for 

information on the school counseling program (link below). At LESSONS you will find information on 

classroom lesson topics for the school year and data on the information learned by the students, at 

PIONEER IN THE FIELD you will find out about the people that have been highlighted in our morning 

announcements, and at WHAT’S HAPPENING! you will find information on different events/activities 

that students have been able to take part in on campus.

If you would like to take a picture of your child with their Spirit Rock, 

you are welcome to send it in and I will post it with my WPC. Please 

include your child’s name and I will be glad to post the picture and wish 

your child a special Happy Birthday. This is a great way to advertise our 

rock and give your special person a little something extra. ;)
