I. Admission Policies for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Division of Regional Innovation and Management (Master's Program) 1. Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (Master's Program)

The aim of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences is to develop human resources who can use their expertise in the natural sciences, the humanities, and the social sciences, etc., to create new value from a broad perspective, unrestricted by boundaries between the humanities and the sciences, and contribute to the resolution of both local and global issues and create a sustainable society. Successful applicants are selected based on the admission policies established by the individual major program in accordance with the Diploma Policy and the Curriculum Policy.

2. Division of Regional Innovation and Management

The Division of Regional Innovation and Management aims to foster highly skilled professionals and researchers who utilize the advanced specialized knowledge and skills and comprehensive perspective they possess in order to focus on rural areas in the promotion of industrial development, work to realize a safe and secure society, and ensure the mental and physical wellness of the residents based on their efforts for the recovery after the Great East Japan Earthquake. The Division expects that students will contribute to sustainable regional innovation and management, and share the outcomes arising from this with the rest of the world. From this perspective, we seek applicants who have the following abilities and traits. • Have fundamental academic abilities required for specialized research and study • Have ethical values and high-level communication skills • Have the communication skills to make their ideas understood properly • Have a strong interest in local issues and are highly motivated to resolve them

II. Classification of Enrollee Selection Methods

In addition to the General Entrance Examination, the Division of Regional Innovation and Management selects students through Entrance Examination by Recommendation, the Entrance Examination for Working People and the Entrance Examination for International Students. (The Clinical Psychology Program calls for applications for the General Entrance Examination and the Entrance Examination for Working People only). Among them, the Division calls for applications for the General Entrance Examination, the Entrance Examination for Working People, and the Entrance Examination for International Students twice a year: 1st and 2nd application periods. Applicants can apply on both occasions as long as they submit application documents with the examination fee during each of the designated periods.

1. Entrance Examination by Recommendation (page 13 -)

For students who demonstrate both excellent character and academic abilities, and who have received a recommendation from the dean (or department head) of their university/college, or the principal of their junior college or the Advanced Course of a National Institute of Technology, a student selection process that is different from the general entrance examination will be carried out.

2. Entrance Examination for Working People (page 17 -)

For working professionals who have a certain level of experiences in society, a student selection process that is different from the general entrance examination will be carried out in order to provide them with an opportunity for recurrent education.

3. Entrance Examination for International Students (page 22 -)

For international students who have completed their curriculum abroad, a student selection process that is different from the general entrance examination will be carried out.

III. General Entrance Examination 1. Number of students to be admitted

Graduate Course in Human Health Sciences 6 Note 1: Among the programs in the Graduate Course in Human Health Sciences, the Clinical Psychology Program

admits about five students for all of the classifications for selection that are open for admission. Note 2: Among the programs in the Graduate Course in Human Health Sciences, the Clinical Psychology Program

does not allow transfers from other programs after admission. Applicants who wish to become a clinical psychotherapist or a licensed psychologist must take an examination for the Clinical Psychology Program.

2. Application qualification

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria. (1) Have graduated from a university or college stipulated in Section 1, Article 83 of the School Education Act or are

expected to graduate by March 2020 (2) Were conferred a bachelor's degree by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of

Higher Education in accordance with Section 4, Article 104 of the School Education Act; or are expected to be conferred such a degree by March 2020

(3) Have completed 16 years of school education overseas; or are expected to complete such a program by March 2020 (4) Have completed 16 years of overseas school education by taking a correspondence course offered in Japan by an

overseas school; or are expected to complete such a program by March 2020 (5) Have completed a curriculum in an educational institution in Japan with curricula of an overseas university (only if

completion of such curricula corresponds to completion of 16 years of school education in the pertinent country), which is regarded as an institution in line with the pertinent country's education system and is designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan; or are expected to complete such a curriculum by March 2020

(6) Have earned a bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) or expect to do so by March 2020, through completion of a course of study that is no less than three years in length (including courses of study completed in Japan by taking distance learning classes offered by the relevant foreign school and courses of study completed at an educational facility that is part of the relevant foreign country’s educational system and which has been designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as having the foreign university’s program in Japan) at a foreign university or other foreign school (only those for which the overall status of education and research activities, etc., has been evaluated by a party certified by the government of that foreign country or a related organization, or the equivalent to such, as designated separately by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology)

(7) Have completed a post-secondary course at a specialized training college stipulated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (only schools that meet standards stipulated by the Minister, such as the requirement of four or more years for graduation), after the date designated by the Minister; or are expected to complete such a course by March 2020

(8) Are designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (Ministerial Announcement No. 5, Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture-Japan, 1953 [designation of those who are recognized as having scholastic abilities equivalent to or higher than college graduates in relation to the admission to courses for graduate in graduate schools and universities])

(9) Are recognized by the Division of Regional Innovation and Management as having acquired designated credits with excellent records, and meeting any of the following criteria: (i) Have enrolled for three or more years in a university or college stipulated in Section 1, Article 83 of the School

Education Act (ii) Have completed 15 years of education in an overseas school (iii) Have completed 15 years of overseas school education by taking a correspondence course offered in Japan by an

overseas school (iv) Have completed a curriculum in an educational institution in Japan with curricula of an overseas university (only

if completion of such curricula corresponds to completion of 15 years of school education in the pertinent country), which is regarded as an institution in line with the pertinent country's education system and is designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

(10) Are recognized by the Division of Regional Innovation and Management on the basis of an individual application qualification screening to have scholastic abilities equivalent to or higher than college graduates and will be 22 years old or older by March 31, 2020

3. Application procedure (1) Application method

Applicants should prepare the application documents specified below and submit them to the University by mail or in person. If mailing, the application must be sent as Express Registered Mail and have "Enclosed: General Entrance Examination, Application Documents for the Master's Program of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Division of Regional Innovation and Management" written on the envelope in red ink.

(3) Application submission period 1st Application: From July 12 to July 17, 2019 2nd Application: From December 4 to December 6, 2019 If submitting in person, applications are accepted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

(4) Application documents, etc. Admission Application Form, Resume, etc. Please fill out a designated form.

Electronic Processing Card

Read the instructions on filling in the card and the example starting on page 31. The card must not be folded or bent and must be free from marks or stains since it will be processed electronically. Foreign applicants who don't understand Japanese should submit the Electronic Processing Card without filling it in.

Photograph Sheet / Examination Admission Slip

Affix your photo (4cm long, 3cm wide) to the Photo Sheet. Applicants are required to fill out the area framed in thick lines.

Entrance Examination Fee Receipt Sheet (Certificate of Bank Transfer Reception)

Pay the entrance examination fee of 30,000 yen (bank transfer fee will be separately charged) at the counter of Japan Post Bank or post office by using the enclosed Payment Handling Slip. (Do not pay via ATM.) After the bank transfer, make sure that the "Certificate of Bank Transfer Reception (Customer's Copy)" has been date-stamped, and affix the Certificate to the designated area. The entrance examination fee will not be refunded for any reason after the application documents have been received. The entrance examination fee will not be collected from foreign students who are receiving scholarships from the Japanese government, so make sure to attach the Certificate of Government-Sponsored Foreign Student. See "X. Examination Fee Waiver" on page 31 for the examination fee in the area that the Disaster Relief Act applies to.

Transcripts

Transcripts prepared and sealed by the president, dean, or principal of the institution you attended is required. Transcripts issued by the certificate issuing machine at the institution that the applicant attended need not be sealed. Those applying under item (2) need to submit transcripts from a National Institute of Technology, etc. as well. If they are in a language other than Japanese or English, please attach Japanese or English translation.

Diploma/Certificate of Completion, or Certificate of Expected Graduation/Completion

The Diploma or Certificate from the institution you attended is required. If it is in a language other than Japanese or English, please attach Japanese or English translation.

Certificate of Bachelor's Degree Conferred, or Certificate of Acceptance of Application for Degree Conferred

Those applying under item (2) need to submit one of the following: (i) Certificate of Degree Conferred (ii) Certificate of Acceptance of Application for Degree Conferred, or a certificate

(any format) which clearly indicates that the applicant is "currently applying (or slated for applying) for the degree conferred by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Education," prepared by the president, dean, or principal of the institution you attended.

Examination Permit

Those who are currently employed must submit a permit signed and sealed by the head of their place of employment. Of those enrolled in other graduate schools or those applying under item (9), those who are enrolled in other universities/colleges must submit a permit (any format) prepared by the president of their institution.

Certificate of Residence (Non-Japanese applicants only)

Non-Japanese applicants are required to submit a Certificate of Residence (a document that clearly shows the individual's residence status). In addition, applicants living outside of Japan are required to submit either a copy of the passport page that details your identity, an extract of the family register from your home country or a certificate of citizenship.

Documents to Prove Foreign Language Proficiency Test Results (For applicants who request a waiver of a foreign language examination)

For those wishing to be waived from taking the foreign language examination (see "4. Selection method" on page 7 for the criteria), make sure that the original copy of a certificate of test result or score report is submitted. (The certificate of test result or score report must be for a test taken within four years of the entrance examination day.) We will return the original copy with an examination admission slip to you. The original copy might be folded depending on its size. If you want to avoid this, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope. Applicants who are native speakers of English will be waived from submitting a certificate of test result or a score report. Please ask before applying.

Document on Research Achievements or Research Plan

*Required by: Integrated Regional Economic Program Regional Management Program Behavioral Science Program Clinical Psychology Program Sports and Health Science Program

Applicants to any of the programs on the left must submit the following (i) to (iii): (i) Research plan

Provide the required information on the designated form (limit it to one page). (ii) Undergraduate thesis, etc.

Submit an academic paper (a copy is accepted) to show research achievements if any. Examples include an undergraduate thesis, research paper, or survey report. Submit a proposal for an academic paper (in A4 paper in any format) if the paper is not ready for submission. Submit a statement of reasons (in A4 paper in any format) if neither academic paper or proposal is available for submission.

(iii) Summary of undergraduate thesis, etc. Provide the required information on the designated form if you have an undergraduate thesis, etc.

Return Envelope for Sending Your Examination Admission Slip

Write your address on the designated envelope and affix a 374-yen stamp (express delivery fee).

Label Slip Fill out the designated Label Slip.

Other Documents Those who have been certified by the preliminary application qualification screening should submit a copy of the certificate.

(5) Please be aware that:

(i) After receipt of your application documents, they will not be returned and changes in entries will not be accepted for any reason.

(ii) Flawed application documents will not be accepted for any reason; make sure that all information is correct and complete.

(iii) Before applying, consult an instructor in the field of specialization you wish to join to make sure that it matches the instructor's field. (Except for the Clinical Psychology Program) Contact the Admissions Office, Student Services Department, Iwate University for their contact information.

(iv) Promptly contact the office if personal information such as address has changed after submitting the application. (v) Admission may be canceled if any false information is found in the application documents.

4. Selection method The selection of enrollees will be assessed comprehensively according to the results of the academic achievement test (written examination, presentation examination), interview, and screening of documents. (However, applicants must achieve a passing score in a foreign language examination in order to be accepted.) The assessment will be done for the applicants who have taken all the examination items required for each program (except for the items to be waived).

Note 3: Written examinations (specialized subjects) for the Integrated Regional Economic Program (i) The Six Codes must be the ones provided by the university to be allowed during the Commercial Law and

Labor Law (Social Law) examinations. (ii) Evolutionary Economics, Regional Agricultural Management, Politics and Economics, and Environmental

Economics examinations require both essay-examinations on specialized subjects and common questions to assess basic understanding.

Note 4: Written examinations (specialized subjects) for the Regional Management Program The Six Codes must be the ones provided by the university to be allowed during the Constitutional Law, Civil Law (Property Law), Disaster Management, Civil Law (Family Law), and Criminal Law examinations.

Note 5: Written examinations (specialized subjects) for the Civil and Environmental Engineering Program Only scientific calculators provided by the university will be allowed during the examinations on Specialized Subject 1.

Note 6: Applicants will be asked to give a presentation on their undergraduate research (including research and development work at a business enterprise) during the presentation examination for the Disaster Management and Community Development Program. The presentation should be around 10 minutes and in Japanese or English. A question and answer session will follow on a related specialized subject (the interview will be given together). The examination will be 30 minutes per person in total. The presentation should focus on the purpose, background, results, and future challenges of the research and the research plans for the future including after joining the program. Applicants who haven’t started undergraduate research should present future research plans (including the purpose and background). The assessment will be based on the answers during the question and answer session and focus on the applicant’s desire to study, willingness to explore, creative capacity, and ability to fulfill academic work. A projector will be provided for the presentation. Please bring your own computer with D-sub 15 pin standard connection for the projector.

Note 7: Oral examinations will be given during the interview.

6. Summary of registration procedure

The registration procedure is summarized below. Detailed information will be provided in the registration documents which will be sent to admitted applicants.

Note 1: The figures above are expected amounts; therefore, in the event that the payment amounts are amended at the time of your registration or while you are enrolled, the new payment amounts will be in effect thereafter.

Note 2: International students sponsored by the Japanese government are exempt from paying the matriculation fee and tuition.

(2) Admitted applicants will be notified of: the payment methods for the university fees and Personal Accident Insurance for Students pursuing Education and Research; and the application method and required documents for matriculation fee and tuition waiver.

7. Extended enrollment system

The Division of Regional Innovation and Management offers an option for students with special circumstances (see Note 1) to complete their curricula within four years in a planned manner, rather than the standard two years. Those requesting this option will be screened for qualification. The total tuition for extended enrollment is the same amount as for the standard program of two years. The application method for extended enrollment will be notified to applicants that have been admitted. Note 1: Eligibility: (i) Working students (those who work eight hours a day, three or more days a week; or those who

work four hours a day, four or more days a week, and have been employed continually for six or more months

(ii) Homemakers and/or those raising children (iii) Those who are not categorized as above but are supporting themselves financially (iv) Others who are deemed eligible by the school

Note 2: In general, there is no special curricula provided for extended enrollment students. 8. Personal information management

Personal information will be handled in accordance with the "Act on the Protection of Personal Information Held by Independent Administrative Agencies, etc." and "Iwate University Personal Information Management Rules."

(1) Personal information provided in the application, such as name, address and other information, is only used for (i) admissions (application process, entrance examination), (ii) announcement of successful candidates, and (iii) admission procedures.

(2) Entrance examination results are used as research material for the future development of the admission method. (3) In regard to (1) and (2) above, part of the work will be outsourced to an outside company by Iwate University.

Accordingly, all or part of the personal information will be provided to the outsourced company for it to complete the commissioned work.

(4) Personal information and examination results for admission of enrolled students will be used by (i) the registrar (e.g., student registration, curriculum support), (ii) student life support (e.g., health management, career guidance, tuition fee exemption and scholarship application), and (iii) tuition fee collection.

9. Disclosure of examination results to examinees In the Division of Regional Innovation and Management, entrance examination results are disclosed in the following ways.

(i) Recipients of the disclosure: Limited to the examinee only (representatives or substitutes are not allowed). (This applies to all examinees, regardless of whether the selection results are a pass or fail.)

(ii) Period of disclosure: May 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020 Please note that this is limited to from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays only (holidays not included).

(iii) Process for requesting disclosure: Examinees must come to the university (Admissions Office, Student Services Department) and present their examination admission slip.

(iv) Contents of the disclosure: The allocation of points and examination results for the subjects in which the requester took the examination

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria. (1) Have fundamental academic abilities required for specialized research and study at the graduate program; expect to

graduate from a university/college by March 2020; demonstrate both excellent character and academic ability; have the support of the president or principal of their institution; and are committed to enroll once accepted.

Applicants should prepare the application documents specified below and submit them to the University by mail or in person. Photograph Sheet / Examination Admission Slip

Affix your photo (4cm long, 3cm wide) to the Photo Sheet. Applicants are required to fill out the area framed in thick lines.

Examination Fee Receipt Sheet (Certificate of Bank Transfer Reception)

Pay the entrance examination fee of 30,000 yen (bank transfer fee will be separately charged) at the counter of Japan Post Bank or post office by using the enclosed Payment Handling Slip. (Do not pay via ATM.) After the bank transfer, make sure that the "Certificate of Bank Transfer Reception (Customer's Copy)" has been date-stamped, and affix the Certificate to the designated area. The entrance examination fee will not be refunded for any reason after the application documents have been received. The entrance examination fee will not be collected from foreign students who are receiving scholarships from the Japanese government, so make sure to attach the Certificate of Government-Sponsored Foreign Student. See "X. Examination Fee Waiver" on page 31 for the examination fee in the area that the Disaster Relief Act applies to.

Transcripts

Transcripts prepared and sealed by the president, dean, or principal of the institution you attended is required. Transcripts issued by the certificate issuing machine at the institution that the applicant attended need not be sealed. Those applying under item (2) need to submit transcripts from a National Institute of Technology, etc. as well. If the transcripts are in a language other than Japanese or English, please attach Japanese or English translation.

Letter of recommendation A letter of recommendation, prepared and sealed by your academic supervisor at your institution, is required.

Certificate of (Expected) Graduation/Completion

The Diploma or Certificate from the institution you attended is required If it is in a language other than Japanese or English, please attach Japanese or English translation.

Certificate of Bachelor's Degree Conferred, or Certificate of Acceptance of Application for Degree Conferred

Those applying under item (2) need to submit one of the following: (i) Certificate of Degree Conferred (ii) Certificate of Acceptance of Application for Degree Conferred, or a certificate

(any format) which clearly indicates that the applicant is "currently applying (or slated for applying) for the degree conferred by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Education," prepared by the president, dean, or principal of the institution you attended.

Certificate of Residence (Non-Japanese applicants only)

Non-Japanese applicants are required to submit a Certificate of Residence (a document that clearly shows the individual's residence status). In addition, applicants living outside of Japan are required to submit either a copy of the passport page that details your identity, an extract of the family register from your home country or a certificate of citizenship.

Submit a proposal for an academic paper (in A4 paper in any format) if the paper is not ready for submission. Submit a statement of reasons (in A4 paper in any format) if neither academic paper or proposal is available for submission.

(iii) Summary of undergraduate thesis, etc. Provide the required information on the designated form if you have an undergraduate thesis, etc.

Return Envelope for Sending Your Examination Admission Slip

Write your address on the designated envelope and affix a 374-yen stamp (express delivery fee).

(i) After receipt of your application documents, they will not be returned and changes in entries will not be accepted for any reason.

Selection method The selection of enrollees will be assessed comprehensively according to the results of the academic achievement test (oral examination, presentation examination), interview, and screening of documents. 2. Application qualification

Applicants who meet any of the following criteria to be eligible at least three years before admission and then have working experience after graduation (including self-employment and NPO work).

(1) Have graduated from a university or college stipulated in Section 1, Article 83 of the School Education Act (2) Were conferred a bachelor's degree by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of

Higher Education in accordance with Section 4, Article 104 of the School Education Act (3) Have completed 16 years of education in an overseas school (4) Have completed 16 years of overseas school education by taking a correspondence course offered in Japan by an

overseas school (5) Have completed a curriculum in an educational institution in Japan with curricula of an overseas university (only if

completion of such curricula corresponds to completion of 16 years of school education in the pertinent country), which is regarded as an institution in line with the pertinent country's education system and is designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

(6) Have earned a bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) through completion of a course of study that is no less than three years in length (including courses of study completed in Japan by taking distance learning classes offered by the relevant foreign school and courses of study completed at an educational facility that is part of the relevant foreign country’s educational system and which has been designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as having the foreign university’s program in Japan) at a foreign university or other foreign school (only those for which the overall status of education and research activities, etc., has been evaluated by a party certified by the government of that foreign country or a related organization, or the equivalent to such, as designated separately by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology)

(7) Have completed a post-secondary course at a specialized training college stipulated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (only schools that meet the standards stipulated by the Minister, such as the requirement of four or more years for graduation), after the date designated by the Minister.

(8) Are designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (Ministerial Announcement No. 5, Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture-Japan, 1953 [designation of those who are recognized as having scholastic abilities equivalent to or higher than college graduates in relation to the admission to courses for graduate in graduate schools and universities])

(9) Are recognized by the Division of Regional Innovation and Management on the basis of an individual application qualification screening to have scholastic abilities equivalent to or higher than college graduates who spent at least three years after graduation and will be 22 years old or older by March 31, 2020 Note: Those who intend to apply under item (9) should refer to "VIII. Non-Japanese nationals, who demonstrate sufficient Japanese proficiency for successful academic performance and meet any of the following criteria:

overseas school; or are expected to complete such a program by March 2020 (3) Have earned a bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) or expect to do so by March 2020, through completion of a course

of study that is no less than three years in length (including courses of study completed in Japan by taking distance learning classes offered by the relevant foreign school and courses of study completed at an educational facility that is part of the relevant foreign country’s educational system and which has been designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as having the foreign university’s program in Japan) at a foreign university or other foreign school (only those for which the overall status of education and research activities, etc., has been evaluated by a party certified by the government of that foreign country or a related organization, or the equivalent to such, as designated separately by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology)

(4) Have completed 15 years of education in an overseas school or are expected to complete such a program by March 2020, and are recognized by the Division of Regional Innovation and Management as having acquired designated credits with excellent records

Non-Japanese applicants are required to submit a Certificate of Residence (a document that clearly shows the individual's residence status). In addition, applicants living outside of Japan are required to submit either a copy of the passport page that details your identity, an extract of the family register from your home country or a certificate of citizenship.

(iii) Summary of undergraduate thesis, etc. Provide the required information on the designated form if you have an undergraduate thesis, etc.

Write your address on the designated envelope and affix a 374-yen stamp (express delivery fee).

4. Selection method The selection of enrollees will be assessed comprehensively according to the results of the academic achievement test (written examination, oral examination, presentation examination) and screening of documents. The assessment will be done for the applicants who have taken all the examination items required for each program.

The assessment will be based on the answers during the question and answer session and focus on the applicant’s desire to study, willingness to explore, creative capacity, and ability to fulfill academic work. VIII. Individual Application Qualification Screening 1. The item (9) (i) of "2. Application qualification" in "III. General Entrance Examination" applies to those who meet the

following criteria: (1) Enrollment period

Those who have enrolled in their institution for three or more years as of the end of March 2020. The period of temporary leave should not be included in the period of enrollment.

(2) Academic records: Those who have taken all required subjects by the time of application, and have received grades of 80 or higher in 4/5 or more of the acquired credits. Even after passing the entrance examination, admission will not be permitted if it is confirmed by the end of March, 2020, that not all required subjects to be taken by the junior year have been completed, or fewer than 4/5 of the credit requirement for graduation including acquired electives have been completed, or fewer than 4/5 of the credits acquired have received grades of 80 or higher.

(3) Those who meet the above-mentioned item (1) or (2) must submit the following documents prior to the actual application, for a preliminary review on application qualification. (i) Certificate of Enrollment or Certificate of Enrollment Period (on which the admission date is stated) from the

college/university you attended. (ii) Course registration description (list of class details) (iii) Transcripts (must be sealed) (iv) Request Form for the Authorization of Application Qualification (designated form) (v) Other documents may be requested as needed. *Please request the Request Form for the Authorization of Application Qualification from the Admissions Office, Student Services Department, Iwate University.

(4) Please be aware: Those granted admission through individual application qualification screening forfeit their undergraduate status at their institutions. This means that they will not be able to take any qualification exams or national exams in which "graduation from universities/colleges" is stipulated as a requirement.

2. The items (9) (ii), (iii) and (iv) of "2. Application qualification" in "III. General Entrance Examination" and (4) of "2.

Application qualification" in "VII. Entrance Examination for International Students" apply to those who meet the following criteria:

(1) Academic records: Those who have taken all required subjects by the time of application, and have received grades of 80 or higher in 4/5 or more of the acquired credits. 3. Applicants to whom item (10) of "2. Application qualification" in "III. General Entrance Examination," item (9) of "2. Application qualification" in "V. Entrance Examination for Working People," or item (5) of "2. Application qualification" in "VII. Entrance Examination for International Students" applies are mainly individuals who have not graduated from a university such as graduates of junior colleges, National Institutes of Technology, and specialized training colleges, or individuals who have completed university education in a country in which formal education ending with graduation from a university is less than 16 years in length and to whom item (6) of "2. Application qualification" in "III. General Entrance Examination," and "V. Entrance Examination for Working People," and item (3) of "2. Application qualification" in "VII. Entrance Examination for International Students" do not apply. Those who have completed college education in a country in which formal education ending with graduation from a university is less than 16 years in length must have been engaged in research as research students, research associates, etc., for a certain period of time (about one or more years) at colleges/universities or equivalent research institutions in Japan or abroad, such as joint institutions with national universities, and will be 22 years old or older by March 31, 2020. Those applying with the above qualification must submit the following documents prior to the actual application, for a preliminary review on application qualification: (1) Certificate of Graduation from your graduating college/university or school (2) Transcripts (must be sealed) (3) Request Form for the Authorization of Application Qualification (designated form) (4) Certificate that verifies your research history, or Certificate of Employment (prepared by your immediate manager

of your company and in any format) (5) Other documents may be requested as needed. *Please request the Request Form for the Authorization of Application Qualification from the Admissions Office, Student Services Department, Iwate University.

4. Applicants who apply to the Casting and Molding Program based on item (9) of "2. Application qualification" in "V.

Entrance Examination for Working People" must: (i) Have at least eight years of experiences engaging in the field after graduating from high school (ii) Have at least four years of experiences engaging in the field after graduating from a junior college or a National

Institute of Technology *If the last academic institution attended is other than (i) or (ii) above, please contact the Admissions Office, Student Services Department, Iwate University (+81-(0)19-621-6064) for further details on the applying.

Those who apply with the above-mentioned criteria must submit the following documents prior to the actual application, for a preliminary review on application qualification. IX. Preliminary Consultation for Applicants with Disabilities Those wishing to apply for enrollment in the Division of Regional Innovation and Management, who require special consideration for taking the examination and during the course of study due to physical disability, illness, etc., should submit the form "Preliminary Consultation" (page 32) by June 3, 2019 for the 1st application or November 1, 2019 for the 2nd application. We may conduct an interview with the applicant or someone who is able to speak on behalf of the applicant, such as a person involved in the applicant's institution. Submit to:

Examination Fee Waiver In application of the Disaster Relief Act, Iwate University will waive the examination fee for disaster victims to prevent financial hardship from being a deterrent to those wishing to go to graduate school. For details on the application procedure, etc., please check the university website: https://www.iwate-u.ac.jp/admission/general/exemption.html The Examination Fee Waiver Request should be made at the same time as the application procedure. XI. Electronic Processing Card and Example

Foreign applicants who don't understand Japanese should submit the Electronic Processing Card without filling it in. 1. Instructions

(1) Please fill out the Electronic Processing Card in the following manner. (i) Please leave fields "for official use only" blank. (ii) "Continuing to a higher level of education" under "5. Personal status" is for those who are expecting to

graduate from university/college or other institution. (iii) Codes in fields 3-10 must be written properly with appropriate numbers in accordance with the writing

format specified below. (iv) Print your name with proper kanji if any.

(2) JIS Level 1 and 2 kanji characters must be used for names as they will be electronically processed. If electronically unprocessable kanji characters (other than JIS 1 and 2) are used, they will be replaced with similar characters or hiragana for registration.

(Example) " 岡"→ "吉岡" Non-Japanese applicants must print their name in the roman alphabet as it appears on their residence card or passport.

(3) Write solid and proper characters using an HB mechanical pencil (0.5mm lead) on the card. (4) Erase any errors completely using a plastic eraser. (5) The card must not be folded or bent and must be free from marks or stains.
