The Alten Company was established in 1889 in Lancaster, Ohio as a blacksmith shop. Soon after its establishment, a machine shop was added to the facility. In 1910 the foundry operation began and today Worthington is proud to preserve the operation's outstanding gear reducer product line providing rugged, dependable products, built to last. Herringbone gears and pinions are Sykes cut type, characterized by an extremely high degree of strength, performance and dimensional accuracy. Our speed reducers feature a solid housing that provide considerable strength and proper gear alignment.
