Infrastructure

20 – Hi Sendzimr Mills The facility is equipped with 3 Nos. of Hi-Tech. 20-Hi Sendzimer Mills of 18”, 24 “ and 25” mill width. The mill is capable of rolling all grades of Stainless Steel & Nickel alloys to the thinner most sections of 0.05mm for the first time in India. • Input Thickness – 1.5 mm (Maximum) • Output Thickness – 0.8mm – 0.05mm • Tempers - Full Hard, Half Hard & Quarter Hard • Surface Finish - 2 H • Coil Weight - 7 Kg / mm (Maximum) • Coil OD - 1270 mm (Maximum) • Line Speed - 150 MPM (Maximum) • Mill Tension - 20,000 Lbs (Maximum) • I2S Automatic Gauge Control with Vollmer Gauges

Annealing-Pickling Lines There are Three Numbers of A-P Lines in order to soften the Work-Hardened material after coldrolling & remove the internal stresses. The pickling agent duly removes any oxide formation on thesurface. A dull finish is achieved after the pickling operation.

• Thickness - 1.5 mm – 0.05 mm • Surface Finish - 2 D • Pickling Agent - Mixture of Nitric Acid & Hydro-Fluoric Acid

Bright annealing lines Bright Annealing of work-hardened material is carried out in an inert atmosphere of Cracked Ammonia (cracked in in-house Ammonia Cracking Plant) to provide a very bright finish. The internal stresses areremoved as in case of A-P process, but the strips have a brighter luster. There are 2 Nos. of BA line installed, which are capable of annealing the Nickel Alloys and Low Nickel Austenitic Steel for the first time in India. The equipment is also incorporated with Degreasing Line for removing any oil carry over from Rolling. • Maximum Temperature- 2100 0 F • Surface Finish - BA • Material - 200 & 300 Series Stainless Steels &

Skin Pass Mill Strips are passed through a pair of ground work rolls of the 2 Hi Skin Pass mill after Annealing in order to convert dull finish of the strip to a 2B finish. Certain flatness problems are also corrected

• Thickness Range - 0.8mm – 0.1 mm • Surface Finish - 2B

Page 4: IUP Brochure

Infrastructure Tension Leveller Any residual waviness after BA or Rolling is corrected in the Hi-Techtension leveler (Brodeur Make), which has been introduced for the firsttime in Indian Stainless Steel Industry. The strips produced are ofTable Top quality and suitable for most critical applications.

• Flattness (H / L) o Input - 0.5 – 3.0 % o Output - 0.05 – 0.25 %

• Cross Bow (H / L) o Input - 0.4 – 4.0 % o Output - 0.05 – 0.5 %

• Coil Set (H / L) o Input - 2 – 12 % o Output - 1 – 6 %

• Camber (H / L) o Input - 6 mm / Metre o Output - 0.5 mm / Metre

• Line Speed - 120 MPM

Slitting lines IUP Jindal specializes in narrow slitting and is capable of slittingwidths as narrow as 1.5 mm Wide. For this purpose it is equippedwith 3 High tech stilling lines (Brodeur Make), which provideexcellent quality edges with low burr. The lines also facilitate thefinal inspection process and contain the flexibility of providingvarious Coil ID’s as per customer requirement. There is also afacility to provide interleaving paper in between the layers of coil.

• Input Width - 25 “ (635 mm) Maximum • Slit Width - 1.5 mm (Minimum) • Width Tolerance - + 0.05 mm (Minimum) • Coil ID’s - 150, 250, 304, 408, 508 mm

(6”, 10”, 12”, 16”, 20”) • Line Speed - 150 MPM

Auxiliary Equipments The facility of IUP Jindal is equipped with latest kinds of auxiliaryequipments to enable most cost-effective, high quality production. Theplant has 100 % in-house power generation through Natural Gas basedGensets, to avoid any dependence on outside agencies. Some of theequipments are

• Landis Roll Grinding Line with Vollmer VSS Gauge • Caterpillar Natural Gas based Generators • 100 % utilization of Exhaust Gases of generators for Internal

Air-conditioning • De-greasing line • Effluent Treatment Plant & Sewerage Treatment Plant

Quality Assurance at IUP Jindal starts with the understanding of customers’ requirement and is builtinto each stage of production process right from the procurement of Raw Material until dispatch ofthe material to customer. The input Cold Rolled Stainless steel / Nickel Alloys are primarily sourced from the associatedprincipal manufacturers e.g. Jindal Stainless Limited & Imphy Ugine Precision, to ensure bettercontrol over the properties required.

The product is verified at each stage through visual inspection and tested for required properties. The lab is equipped with

• Micro Vickers hardness tester • Vickers & Rockwell hardness tester • Erichsen cup tester • Computerised universal testing machine • Roughness tester • Microscope with image analyzer • Dew point meter • Flatness &camber testing tool • Inter-granular corrosion (IGP) testing as per ASTM A 262

Quality Assurance

Packaging

It is important for a quality product to

reach safely to its customer. Packaging

systems have been developed in order

to fulfill this objective. The packaging is

customized as per the requirement. IUP

Jindal provides an interleave paper

between the coil layers and ensures

that the coils are wrapped properly

with polythene & Hessian Cloth. The

bundles are stacked on wooden pallets

and placed in cardboard boxes.
