INTERNATIONAL UNION FOR CONSERVATION OF NATURE
1st World Forum on Ecosystem Governance
• Partners: IUCN (CEM, China office, EMP, Regional Office Bangkok), State ForestryAdministration - P.R.China, Academy of Science of China, Beijing University
The Forum explored alternative approaches to govern the worlds ecosystems specifically in relation to: • The effects that globalization has on management of ecosystems;• Mitigation and/or adaptation to address the impacts of climate change;• The role technologies could contribute to helping sustain ecosystem capacities; and• Effective means to promote interdisciplinary stakeholder involvement in management
of ecosystems. (more information: https://www.iucn.org/about/union/commissions/cem/cem_about/the_world_forum_on_ecosystem_governance/)

Nature Based Solutions – NBS Pavilion
• Major importance for IUCN and CEM that a Pavilion on Nature-based Solutions (NBS) would be established at WCC
• Allow people from CEM and the Secretariat - especially those that work on different types of NBS concepts - to gather, organize meetings and coordinate their activities and present issues to a wider audience.
• Present case studies and experiences from different areas of the world, that are related to NBS such as EbA, Restoration, Eco-DRR, Ecosystem Services.
• Host events related to the NBS Journey proposed by CEM/GEMP;• Provide a place for new NBS publications to be launched, and for
publications related to the different types of NBS approaches to be available for the public.
