He loved jazz…he played the guitar, electric bass and enjoyed the tranquility of playing classical music with/on his Violin. He was a painter… Painting the Blues or creating the beautiful Purple Painting among many others. Where the Light Falls refers to his love of photography. Circle of Three refers to the three creative art forms that became a part of his life…music, painting and photography. He built a fence and then a gate and stated, ”My New Gate will protect and keep My Dog Elie safely inside my Backyard Haven.” He loved his dog Elie.Want of Method (turmoil) causes suffering and sometimes the result is death, but there is the hope that comes from the promise of eternal life shown through the mercy of a loving God… and so… Be at Rest, Oh My Soul. NR: MEDIUM: jazzwerkstatt ITM 960066 CD JERRY GRANELLI A SONG I TOUGHT I HEARD BUDDY SING Buddy Bolden ist eine Legende, eine von Mythen umrankte Gestalt aus der Frühzeit des Jazz, wahrscheinlich der erste Jazz-Kornettist überhaupt; ein Mann von dessen Pionierarbeit kein einziges Tondokument existiert. Jerry Granelli ließ sich aber weniger von der Musik dieser Ära als vielmehr von Michael Ondaatjes Roman (Coming Trough Slaughter) über diesen beses- senen Mann aus New Orleans inspirieren. Das Musikeraufgebot ist erlesen und Wayne Horvitz steuerte zwei Kompositionen bei. Granellis Mannschaft schlägt einen stimmungsvollen Bogen vom New-Orleans-Shuffle-Groove über Charlie Parker und Johnny Hodges bis zu Ornette Coleman. Mittendrin treffen sich Ford und Frisell zu einer magischen Zeitlupenfassung von „I Put A Spell On You“. Eine eigenwillige Referenz, die das Flair des Mysteriösen in die jazzige Jetztzeit fortspinnt.
