    Dear Parents:

Today we celebrated Filipiniana and had a fantastic time enjoying the

barrio fiesta lunch, dance presentations and musical performances. We also

had an afternoon activity period during which the students assembled a

large map of the Philippines and identified places they have visited, wrote

about an experience they have had in the Philippines, heard folktales,

sampled turon and palitaw, played some games and danced. We hope

everyone learned a little bit more about our host country and have been

inspired to discover even more. The Philippine Cultural Club has done acommendable job in planning this event and is to be applauded.

The Middle School art exhibit opens next week and all are invited to view

the work of our students. The pieces will be on display in the lobby of the

Fine Arts Theater until December 9. Please pay a visityou are sure to be

    impressed!

On Friday, December 2 is a Middle School party for grades 5 8 from 5:00 to

7:00 P.M. Permission slips have been distributed to students. In order to

attend, your child must submit a signed permission slip and purchase a

ticket. Please be advised that students are expected to attend the duration

of the party. In the event that a student must leave before the end of theparty, it is requested that a parent notify the office in writing or by phone

in advance. When informing the office of the early pick-up, please tell us

who will pick up your child and the time so that the MS Office can inform

security. Please understand that we request this information to ensure the

safety of the students who leave the event early. We encourage all

students to attend their respective party and are looking forward to 100%

participation. There will be games, dancing and lots of fun to be had. The

parties will be a great opportunity to spend time with friends!

Please be reminded that there will be no school on Wednesday, November

30 in commemoration of Bonifacio Day. Classes resume on Thursday,December 1.

    Have a relaxing weekend!

    From the PTA

    * * *

    Dear Parents,

The holidays are quickly approaching, and Im sure we are all looking forward to enjoying some well-deserved vacation

time. However, the PTA has its biggest event of the school year coming up as well International Family Fun Day (IFFD),which will take place on January 21, 2012. This is an event that continues to be a highlight of the ISM experience.

There are many reasons for attending and participating in IFFD from children enjoying the games and fun with theirfriends to parents experiencing a new adventure in culinary diplomacy at the International Food Tasting Booths.

In past years, countries from all over the world have been represented in the International Food Fair. It only takes asmall group of volunteers to put together a booth, and sharing our diverse, multi-national cuisine is a truly rewardingexperience. Please contact me if you want to get involved. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Thus far I have at least one volunteer for the following countries:Japan, Taiwan, Pakistan, Thailand, Latin America, Australia/New Zealand, and Europe

Here are the countries that have not yet been represented:Philippines, India, Korea, America/Canada, China, and Indonesia. If you are interested or know anyone who is, my contact information is:
