Can institutional LTA Strategies help embed the

scholarship of teaching and learning?

Institutional Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) strategies are

central to setting the direction for the development of LTA practice.

Page 3: Issotl 2012 lta strategy presentation strickland

The new LTA Strategy was produced through:

• Consultation with Schools, Services and Students’

Association

• Through a process of active listening which

– Identified the need for a meaningful and dynamic strategy

– Shaped the content

• Supported by wider research

Evolution and design of the Learning, Teaching &

Assessment Strategy 2010-15

What do our staff say?

Some aspects of the strategy

have, I guess, challenged me and

got me to think about my practice;

the fact that I have made

changes, hopefully, is good for my

students.

It is good to have somewhere to showcase innovative practice with

colleagues. Avoids reinventing the wheel

The examples in the LTA Resource Bank have helped

bring the LTA strategy to life, for me.

On a number of

occasions I have said

to people, ‘Oh there is

a case study on

that, you should go

and look at that’

Activity: Considering your own institutional LTA strategy

• How can/does your institutional

LTA Strategy promote SOTL in

practice?

• What factors might affect staff

engagement with LTA

strategy?

• How can we encourage staff

engagement in institutional LTA

strategy?
