Tunisian Habiba Ghribi 2015 Best Arab Sports Personality ********
The Arab Sport Press Association, in Tunis, issued a verdict on
who the best Arab Sports Personality of the year 2015 was
and Tunisian Habiba Ghribi, the 2nd World Champion who
won silver at the women's 3000 metres steeplechase events
at both 2015 World Championships in Beijing and 2011 IAAF
World Championships in Daegu, and held the best
performance of the year at the meeting of the IAAF
Diamond League in Birmingham, which declared her as the
winner of the women's category to take the title of “Best
Arab Sportswoman of the Year 2015”.
A week earlier in Tunis, Habiba was elected best Tunisian
sportswoman of the year 2015 by the annual poll organised
by Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency. She also won
recognition by readers of the famous magazine Jeune
Afrique, as one of the most devoted and significant Women
of Africa in the year 2015.
It is recalled that Habiba Gribi also won the silver medal at
the London 2012 Olympic Games behind doping convicted
Russian; Yuliya Zaripova. Conversely, it is expected that the
Gold Medal of the London Games as well as the World
Championships in Daegu 2011 will be returned to her in the
coming months.
Habiba’s current objective is her preparation for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games,
with Gold as her highest step of the Athletics podium.

Opening of bidding process for hosting the
5th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2021
The I.S.S.F General Assembly, at its 9th session held in Baku, Azerbaijan on 3rd
and 4th November 2015, announced opening the bidding process for hosting
and organising the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2021.
A circular letter, signed by His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad Bin
ABDULAZIZ President of the I.S.S.F, was sent to all member NOCs, i.e. 57 Olympic
Committees, inviting them to submit their bids for the 5th Islamic Solidarity
Games within six months from the date of invitation.
Invitation Letter sent all I.S.S.F Member NOCs to participate in
the 4th Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games:
As per the decision taken by the I.S.S.F General Assembly, at its 9th session held
on 3rd and 4th November 2015, announcing the approval of organizing the 4th
Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku, Azerbaijan on 12th-22nd November 2017, His
Royal Highness Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad Bin ABDULAZIZ president of the
I.S.S.F sent the invitation letters to all I.S.S.F Member NOCs, i.e. 57 Olympic
Committees, to participate in the 4th Baku 2017 ISG.

Finals
DOHA, January 24, 2016- Qatar’s Mohammad Abdulwahab is participating in
the ITTF World Junior Circuit Finals being held in India until January 24, 2016.
His compatriot Abdullah Al Najjar was supposed to participate in the event but
an Indian player replaced him.
Qatar’s Mohammed Abdulwahab suffered a 0-3 defeat against Tomokazu
Harimoto of Japan in the initial round.

Egypt’s men’s handball team won the 22nd Men’s African Handball Cup
of Nations and earned their qualifying ticked for the 2016 Olympics after
their win over Tunisia's 21-19 at the final game in Cairo.
This is the 6th African title won by Egypt after those earned in 1991, 1992,
2000, 2004 and 2008. Tunisia still has the record with 9 titles.
Both teams qualified for the IHF World Championship scheduled in 2017 in France
along with Angola who finished third after beating holders Algeria's 25-19 in the third
place playoff.
Tunisia's men’s handball team will take part in the World Olympic Qualification
tournaments on 7-10 April 2016 to compete for the final berth.
Saudi Arabia win Rio quota in Asia Olympic Shooting Qualifiers
Saudi Arabia’s shooter Atallah Alanazi won the Silver medal and was awarded with the
second slot for Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the first one for Saudi Arabia in New Delhi.
Alanazi booked the second place in the 10m Air Pistol Men Finals at the Dr. Karni
Singh Shooting Ranges during Day 6 of the Asia Olympic Qualifying Competition for
Shooting on February 1, 2016 in New Delhi, India.

Egypt clinch Rio 2016 spot after winning the Men’s African
Olympic Volleyball Qualification tournament
Brazzaville, January 12, 2016 - Egypt men's claimed their place at the Rio de Janeiro
2016 Olympic Games after overcoming Tunisia in a dramatic five set match at the
Men’s African Olympic Volleyball Qualification final tournament in Brazzaville.
The Egyptian team was able to hold its nerve in the closing stages to secure a 25-19,
20-25, 25-18, 19-25, 16-14 victory.
In Tokyo, March 2016, both Algeria and Tunisia will have a second chance to qualify
for Rio 2016 as they will take part in the intercontinental event, where they will meet
Chile and Mexico to secure a sole berth.
Algeria’s volleyball team won the third place after they defeated Cameroon in the third
place playoff.
The Olympic Qualification rules stipulate that the first placed team from the African
Olympic Qualification Tournament will directly qualify to Rio 2016, but the second
and third placed teams will take part in the World Olympic Qualifiers to compete for
the final berth.

Iraq wins place in Rio 2016 Olympic Games men’s football
tournament
Iraq booked a spot at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games after their victory over
hosts Qatar for third place at the Asian Football Confederation's under-23
championships with a 2-1 extra time win.
Iraq trailed after Ahmed Alaa’s first-half goal in the 27th min but Mohanad
Abdulraheem equalised with four minutes left, in the 86th min, and Aymen Hussein
headed the winner in the second half of extra-time in the 109th min.
This is the 5th time for Iraq to qualify for Olympic Games, as they reached the Olympic
Games 4 times in Moscow1980, Los Angeles1984, Seoul 1988 and Athens 2004.
In Athens 2004 Olympic Games, Iraq achieved a great victory as they reached the semi-
finals and won the fourth place in the bronze medal match, which is the biggest Olympic
football victory for Arabs in Asia.
