FOREWORD

This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards after the draft finalized by the Automotive Accessories and Garage Equipments Sectional Committee had been approved by the Transport Engineering Division Council.

In the formulation of this standard considerable assistance has been derived from GOST 25289 : 1982 ‘Garage equipment, terms and definitions’ published by the USSR State Committee for Standards.

1 SCOPE

This Indian Standard defines the terms and defini- tions of the basic concepts in the field of garage equipment.

2 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

2.1 Garage Equipment

Technological equipment used for maintenance and routine repair of the automotives.

2.2 Equipment for Washing and Cleaning qperations

2.2.1 Drying Znstallation for Automotives

The installation for removing moisture left on the surface of the automotive after washing.

2.2.2 Washing Installation with Brushes for Auto- motive1

Washing installation for automotives, the working element of which are special brushes.

2.2.3 Washing Installation with Jets for Automotives

Washing installation~for automotives, the working element of which is a device directing the jets of washing fluid.

2.2.4 Washing Installation With Brushes and Jets for Automotives

Washing installation for automotives, the working elements of which are brushes and a device to -direct the jets of washing fluid.

2.2.5 Washing Installation with a Nose for Auto- motives

Installation for washing the automotives, the working element of which is in the form of a hose with a nozzle, which is operated manually.

2.2.6 Washing Installation with a Hose and Steam Jet for Automotives

Washing installation for automotives having a hose and a steam and water jet.

2.2.1 Washing Installation for Road Vehicles

A device for mechanizing and automating the process of washing the automotives.

22.8 Washing Line for Automotives

The system of equipments for washing, cleaning and removing the moisture from the surface of automotives, which are installed in series.

2.3 Equipment for Anticorrosive Treatment, Lubri- cation and Inflating

2.3.1 Anticorrosive Installation

A device for mechanized treatment of the automo- tives with anticorrosive materials.

2.3.2 Automatic Filling System

An installation for centralized mechanized feeding of lubricants, grease and air to the automotives.

2.3.3 Compressor for Garage Use

A specialized compressor for inflating the automo- tive tyres and for feeding compressed air to the equipment used for maintenance, routine repair and for painting the automotive.

2.3.4 Grease Pump Unit for Garage Use

Lubricating pump unit for feeding under pressure lubricant grease to the friction surfaces of the automotives.

2.3.5 Oil Container

A device ensuring a closed supply of lubricants.

2.3.6 Oil Dispenser

A mobile set for feeding lubricant.

2.3.1 Tyre Inpater

A device for controlling the inflation of air pressure in the tyres of automotives.

2.3.8 Used Lubricant Collector for Garage Use

A device for collecting lubricants which have been taken out from the lubricant tanks of the automo- tives.

2.4 Equipment for Hoisting and Moving

2.4.1 Hoist for Garage Use

A device for hoisting the automotives.

2.4.2 Trench Hoist

A device mounted on the inspection trench for suspending the axles of automotive.

2.4.3 Hydraulic Jack for Garage Use

A movable jack for suspending the wheels and axles of automotive.

2.5 Repair Equipment

2.5.1 Hoist for Llyting the Assemblies of Vehicles

A load lifting device which ensure the required position of the vehicle assemblies, during its mounting and dismounting.

2.5.2 Impact Wrench A wrench for unscrewing and screwing-up the nuts and bolts of leaf springs and of the wheels of the automotive.

2.5.3 Stand for Vehicle Assemblies

A device which is used for moving heavy assemblies of automotives.

2.5.4 Tool Tyre Removing

A device for mechanized mounting and dismount- ing of tyres of the automotives.

Standard Mark

The use of the Standard Mark is governed by the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 and the Rules and Regulations made thereunder. The Standard Mark on products covered by an Indian Standard conveys the assurance that they have been produced to comply with the requirements of that standard under a well defined system of inspection, testing and quality control which is devised and supervised by BIS and operated by the producer. Standard marked products are also continuously checked by BIS for conformity to that standard as a further safeguard. Details of conditions under which a licence for the use of the Standard Mark may be granted to manufacturers or producers may be obtained from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
