The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is the governing body for paralympic sports.

In Alpine Skiing for athletes with a disability, the IPC acts as International Sport Federation.

The IPC Alpine Skiing Sports Technical Committee (IPCAS STC) is the consultative body for the IPC Governing Board and has the responsibility of technical delivery for the sport.

IPCAS uses FIS Technical Delegates for its sanctioned events. The IPCAS TD is a TD who holds a valid FIS TD licence.

decisions with the support of the Jury and to see that the IPCAS Rules and Regulations are followed.

EDUCATION:The IPCAS TD is a licensed FIS TD and

therefore will have completed the education process to be become an FIS TD and meet the requirements to maintain their FIS TD licence.

The IPCAS TD needs to be familiar with the IPCAS Rules and Regulations and to have an understanding of the differences that apply to IPCAS races.

The IPCAS Technical Delegate Handbook is being finalized at this time. It will be forwarded along with a copy of the IPCAS Rules to all FIS TD Commissioners in November 2010.

A more formal education process (IPCAS TD Pathway) continues to be developed by the IPCAS STC and will presented in the near future.

The IPCAS STC member that has primary responsibility for matters relating to IPCAS TD issues is the:

Assignment of a TD for an IPCAS Race:

The assignment of a TD is carried by the FIS TD Commissioner for the region were the event is held except for World Cup, World Championships and Paralympic Winter Games. WC, WCH and PWG are appointed on the recommendation of the IPCAS STC.

North American Assignments 2010 - 2011:

For the 2010-11 season, North America will be hosting NORAM races, National Championships (NC - USA and CAN) and IPCAS (equivalent to FIS ENL) races.

North American Assignments 2011-2012:

For the 2011-12 season, the plan is to have World Cup events in both the USA and CAN. The aim is to have each of these events with a North American TD. There will also be NORAM, NC and IPCAS races.

North American Assignments 2012-15:

North America will continue to host NORAM, NC and IPCAS races. The plan is to have World Cup races at least every two years in USA and CAN. An approach by the IPC has been made to have either CAN or USA host the 2015 IPCAS World Championships.
