    What is the IP-SPALC?

    The Programme is designed to provide an overview of the sport performanceas a multidisciplinary structure, which reflects and depends on relevanttechnical, physiological, psychological, ethical, political, economical,organizational and legislative aspects.

    The IP-SPALC will develop interdisciplinary communication for constantinvolvement of the findings (sharing competences) and a multidisciplinary

    educational approach (i.e., the same problem observed from differentdisciplinary points of view), integrating theoretical (morning lectures) andpractical competences (afternoon workshops) to deal, at research and/or intervention level, with the complexities of sport performance.

    The quality of the program will be guaranteed by the involvement of Facultyand Research Units from Institutions internationally recognized for educational excellence and scientific merits, and the partnership with privatestakeholders in the sport area (i.e., Microgate, Sdam, Sensorize, Visa Sport).

    Students are assigned to five work groups. At the end of each week, groupsare expected to present a report of their work.

    What is the attendance policy?

    1. Every student is expected to attend ALL lectures, workshops andcultural/social activities

    2. There are NO excused absences. All absences are counted: This is anintensive programme

    3. Every student will be asked to fill a day by day questionnaire to rate eachspeaker on the content and the delivery of his/her presentation

    4. Professors will be asked to fill a day by day questionnaire to rate each studenton the content and the delivery of his/her presentation

    5. There is no DROP AND ADD in the IP-SPALC. When students are in theprogram, they should be there for the entire period

    The IP-SPALC Venue

    The IP-SPALC will take place at the University of Rome Foro Italico, whichis the Citys 4 th State university and the only Italian and one of the fewEuropean vocational universities entirely devoted to sport and exercisescience. The University is the direct heir of the Italian Sport Academy,established in 1928, and it is located in the monumental area of Foro Italicoin Rome, where are placed some of the Citys most famous sport structures.

    The IP-SPALC course will take place in P.zza Lauro de Bosis, 15, RoomAula Consiliare Giulio Marinozzi, which is located in the Palazzo H with adirect access from Giardino del Cinghiale next to the obelisc)

    Public TransportationBus tickets are on sale in most tobacconists and newspaper kiosks; vendingmachines may be found at underground stations (metro). Tickets must bevalidated immediately upon boarding the bus or at the railway station beforeboarding an urban train. Bus and metro inspectors do random spot checksand the fine for being caught without a validated ticket is 51,00. Thestandard ticket, B.I.T., costs 1,00; it is valid for 75 minutes on all busses andurban trains; it also includes one trip on the metro. The B.I.G ticket costs

    4,00; it is valid for one whole day and includes more than one trip on themetro. The C.I.S. is a weekly pass for all busses, urban trains and the metro;

    Postal Service

    Post Offices (Ufficio postale or, simply, Posta) are open Monday throughFriday from 8:30am to 2:00pm, Saturdays from 8:30 to 1:00pm. There is amain post office (Ufficio postale centrale) in each district (Municipio) and

    these are open also in the afternoon up to 6:00pm.

    Climate

    The climate in Rome is generally mild and pleasant. During the IP-SPALCcourse we expect warm (minimum temperature 10-15C, maximumtemperature 20-25C).

    Accomodation

    During the programme students and lectures will stay at the Trianon BorgoPio Residence. The structure, belonging to the Trianon Group Residencechain, is situated in the old Rione Borgo Pio in Rome, at the gates of theVatican. The residence, composed of 45 flats, offers its guests the autonomyto manage their stay freely, without any bonds that other types of structuretend to impose. The comfortable and central position, equipped with everynecessary service, offers the suggestive experience of staying in the Romanstyle of everyday life. Sheltered from the chaos of the city traffic, here onemay enjoy the sounds, the colors and the perfumes of the Roman tradition inthe setting of the oldest part of the Renaissance Borough, Borgo Pio.
