    THE SERIES - - This is the fih meeng between the two schoolsin football. Pisburgh holds a 3-1 advantage in the series. ThePanthers won the first meeng between the two schools (20-0)in 1931. Iowa won (34-17) in 1951. Pisburgh has won the twomost recent meengs, in 1952 (26-14) and 2008 21-20. The firsttwo games were played in Iowa City and the last two in Pisburgh.The teams are scheduled to meet again in 2014 and 2015.

    HAWKEYES HOST PITTSBURGHIowa (1-1) returns home for the first of two straight non-conference home games

    hosting Pittsburgh (2-0) Saturday in Kinnick Stadium (70,585). Game time is 11:01

    a.m. CT. A limited number of tickets remain. Iowa opened the season with a 34-7win over Tennessee Tech in Iowa City before dropping a 44-41 triple overtimecontest at Iowa State. Pittsburgh is playing its first road game after home winsover Buffalo (35-16) and Maine (35-29).

    ON THE TUBEESPN2 (HD) will televise the contest to a national cable audience. The game

    is also available online at ESPN3.com. Beth Mowins and Mike Bellotti will calthe action.

    RADIO BROADCASTIowa games are broadcast on the Hawkeye Radio Network. Gary Dolphin handles

    the play-by-play, with color commentator Ed Podolak and sideline reporter RobBrooks. The Hawkeye Radio Network includes more than 40 stations throughouthe state.

    TWO HAWKEYES EARN NATIONAL HONORSophomore PK Mike Meyer was named national Placekicker of the Week by the

    College Football Performance Awards for his play in Iowas 44-41 three-overtimeloss at Iowa State. Meyer is also one of three kickers to earn Stars of the Weekrecognition from the Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kicker Award. In addition, sophomore LB Christian Kirksey earned honorable mention as Linebacker of the Week

    Meyer made all four field goal attempts, connecting from 42, 20, 50 and 34 yardsThe 50-yard kick is a career best and the 34-yard effort came in the third overtimeperiod. Meyer is perfect through two games (6-6 FGs, 7-7 PATs) and leads theteam in scoring with 25 points.

    Kirksey had a career-high 13 tackles at Iowa State, including 11 solo stops. Hehad two tackles for loss and one QB sack. He also caused and recovered an IowaState fumble while making a tackle and had one pass break-up. Kirksey leads Iowawith 23 tackles in two games.

    FOUR TO BE ADDED TO MEDIA WALL OF FAMEFour members of the media, who covered University of Iowa athletics over the past

    40 years, will be inducted into the Kinnick Stadium Media Wall of Fame SaturdayThey will be recognized on the field during pre-game ceremonies.

    The inductees are Phil Haddy, a member of the UI athletic staff for 41 years andIowas sports information director from 1993-2010; Chuck Schoffner, who covered

    Iowa events for both United Press and the Associated Press (1972-05); Kevin Ev-ans, sportswriter and sports editor at the Waterloo Courier (1965-2006), and JohnCampbell, current sports director at KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids (1979-present).

    Haddy joined the Iowa athletic staff as assistant sports information director in1971. He became the third sports information director in school history in 1993. Hebegan a two-year phased retirement in 2010. Haddy joins former Iowa SIDs EricWilson (1923-68) and George Wine (1968-93) as members of the Wall of Fame.

    Schoffner began his career at United Press International (1972-79). He joinedthe Associated Press as a sportswriter in 1979 and later served as AP Iowa sportseditor until his retirement in November, 2005. Schoffner continues to work as afreelance writer, covering womens college basketball, the Drake Relays, NCAATrack and Field Championships, and professional golf and auto racing events.

    Campbell has been involved in sports broadcasting for 41 years, including the

    last 32 years at KCRG. He was named sports director at KCRG-TV in June, 1979following a 10-year stint as a sports reporter for WBAY-TV in Green Bay, Wis.

    Evans began his sports writing career at the Waterloo Courier in 1965, workingpart-time as a high school senior. He served as the Couriers sports editor for 15years before his retirement in 2006. During his career, Evans covered Iowa footbalthrough five coaching regimes, beginning with Ray Nagel. He covered Hawkeyefootball on a fulltime basis the last 15 years of his career.

    The inaugural class of 20 members was recognized in 2006, the first year the PauW. Brechler Press Box was in use following the Kinnick Stadium renovation. TheWall of Fame, located in the media section of the press box, recognized individualswho have covered Hawkeye football with integrity, accuracy and fairness over along period of time.

    THE SERIESSaturdays game will be the fifth meeting between Iowa and Pittsburgh. The

    Panthers lead the series, 3-1. Pitt won the most recent meeting, 21-20, Sept. 202008, in Pittsburgh. Iowas lone win in the series came by a 34-17 margin in 1951in Iowa City. Pitt won the first meeting 20-0 (Oct. 3, 1931) and also won 26-14(Sept. 26, 1952) in Pittsburgh.

    FERENTZ SIXTH IN LONGEVITYNow in his 13th season as Iowas head football coach, Kirk Ferentz ranks sixth

    in longevity among FBS head coaches. Ferentz is second among Big Ten coachesand nationally ranks behind Penn States Joe Paterno, Frank Beamer of VirginiaTech, Larry Blakeney of Troy, Pat Hill of Fresno State and Mack Brown of Texas.

    PITT COACH TODD GRAHAM

    Todd Graham is 2-0 in his first season as the Pittsburgh head coach. Graham isin his sixth year as a college head coach with a 45-23 career mark. Graham mosrecently served as the head coach at Tulsa (2007-10), posting a 36-17 record infour years. He was 7-6 in one season (2006) as the head coach at Rice. Grahampreviously was the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Tulsa (200305). He was on the staff at West Virginia in 2001 and 2002 under former Michi-gan Coach Rich Rodriguez and served as defensive coordinator at East CentralUniversity (Okla.), his alma mater, from 1991-93. He also has extensive coachingexperience in the prep ranks in Texas. Tulsa led the nation in total offense in 2007and 2008 and ranked fifth last season.

    IOWA/PITT NOTES Coach Kirk Ferentz coached game No. 150 as Iowas head coach in Iowas 34-7

    win over Tennessee Tech. The Hawkeyes were also victorious in game No50 under Ferentz (56-7 over Buffalo, 9/6/03) and in game No. 100 (35-0 overSyracuse, 9/8/07).

    Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz attended Upper St. Clair High School in Pittsburgh(He was born in Royal Oak, Mich.). Ferentz served as a graduate assistant offensive line coach at Pittsburgh during the 1980 season. That Pitt team (coachedby Jackie Sherrill) finished with an 11-1 record and a No. 2 national ranking.

    Iowa is one of 21 teams in the nation to have allowed just one quarterback sackthrough two games.

    IOWA FALLS IN THREE OTIowa drove 80 yards for a go-ahead touchdown with 5:50 remaining, but could

    not get a defensive stop in the final minutes and eventually dropped a 44-41 contestin three overtimes at Iowa State. The loss snapped Iowas three-game winningstreak in the series.

    Iowa drove 82 yards for a touchdown on itsfirst drive of the game and added a 42-yard fieldgoal from Mike Meyer in the second for a 10-0

    advantage. A 12-yard Iowa State touchdowndrive following an Iowa fumble and a 54-yardfield goal late in the second period left the teamstied at 10-10 at the break.

    Meyer connected on field goals of 20 and 50yards in the third period to give Iowa a 16-10advantage. The 50-yard field goal marked acareer-best for Meyer. ISU answered with afive-play touchdown drive to take its first leastwith two minutes remaining in the third period.

    Coker led Iowas rushing attack with 140 yards and two scores on a career-best35 attempts. Vandenberg completed 16-28 passes for 207 yards and two scoreswith no interceptions. Davis led Iowa receivers with five receptions for 95 yards.

    Kirk Ferentz (pronounced FAIR-rintz,rhymes with parents) is in his 13thseason as head football coach at theUniversity of Iowa. His latest contract

    extension runs through the 2020 season.Ferentz was named the 2009 Dave Mc-

    Clain Big Ten Conference Coach of theYear. He was one of 15 semi-finalistsfor the 2009 George Munger Award,presented by the Maxwell FootballClub to the College Coach of the Year.He was the 2009 AFCA Region Three Coach of the Year andwas one of 10 finalists for the Liberty Mutual national Coachof the Year.

    Ferentz was honored as the 2002 Associated Press and WalterCamp National Coach of the Year and was the AFCA RegionalCoach of the Year that season, as well. He was named Big

    Ten Conference Coach of the Year in 2002, 2004 and 2009.Ferentz guided Iowa to Big Ten titles in 2002 and 2004.

    Iowa has made two BCS bowl appearances, including a 24-14 win in the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl. Iowa has played insix January bowl games and has four January bowl victories(2004 Outback Bowl, 2005 Capital One Bowl, 2009 OutbackBowl and 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl). Iowa has posted an 86-42 (.672) overall mark and a 50-30 (.625) Big Ten record thelast 10-plus seasons. Ferentz has guided the Hawkeyes to ninefirst divisionfinishes, including a second-place finish in 2009.Iowa was bowl eligible in 2010 for the 10th straight season.

    The Hawkeyes are 6-3 in bowl games under Ferentz. His sixbowl wins tie as third most among all-time Big Ten coaches

    and he has led Iowa to three straight bowl victories.At Iowa, Ferentz holds an overall record of 90-61 (.596) anda 53-43 (.552) mark in Big Ten games. In his 16th season as acollege head coach, he holds a career mark of 102-82 (.554).

    Fifty-eight of Iowas 151 games under Ferentz have beendecided by seven points or less (26-32) and 46 were againstopponents who were ranked in the top 25 at the time (20-26).

    Ferentz joined the Iowa staff after serving as assistant headcoach and offensive line coach of the NFLs Baltimore Ravens.He was part of the Baltimore (Cleveland Browns prior to themove) staff for six years.

    Ferentz was named head coach of the Maine Bears in 1990and held that position for three years. Ferentz was a memberof Hayden Frys Iowa staff for nine years as offensive linecoach (1981-89). He coordinated Iowas running game duringhis first coaching stint at Iowa. Iowa appeared in eight bowlgames during the time Ferentz was an Iowa assistant.

    Ferentz was born in Royal Oak, Mich., and attended highschool in Pittsburgh, Pa. He earned his bachelors degree inEnglish Education from Connecticut in 1978, where he wasa football captain. Kirk received the Distinguished AlumnusAward from the Neag School of Education at the Universityof Connecticut in May, 2009. He was inducted into the Up-per St. Clair High School Hall of Fame in September, 2002and the Western Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall ofFame in May, 2003.

    Sophomore PK Mike Meyer made a 50-yard field goal in the third quarter, acareer best. He had a 42-yard field goal in the second period that had tied hisprevious long (at Indiana, 2010). Meyer also had a 20-yardfield goal in the thirdperiod and a 34-yard field goal in the third overtime. He is 6-6 on the seasonand 7-7 on PAT kicks in two games. He has made 20-23 career field goals.

    The 50-yard field goal is the first for Iowa of 50 yards or more since the 2005season, when Kyle Schlicher had a 52-yard field goal in a loss to Ohio State.

    Junior QB James Vandenberg started for the fourth time in his career and twoof those games have ended in overtime. He completed 16-28 attempts for 207yards and two scores, with no interceptions. Saturday was Vandenbergs secondgame with two TDs (Ohio State, 2009).

    Junior Keenan Davis notched career highs in receptions (5) and yards (95) againsIowa State. He also collected his third career touchdown catch.

    Sophomore LB Christian Kirksey had a career-high 13 tackles, his first careersack and his first two TFLs. He also had his first pass breakup, his first causedfumble and first recovered fumble.

    Senior DE Broderick Binns had the third fumble recovery of his career in thefirst period, helping stop ISUs first drive of the game. Binns later had a pasbreak-up and ended the day with four tackles.

    Senior punter Eric Guthrie, a native of Nevada, Iowa, averaged 46.8 yards onfour punts. He had a career-best 60-yard punt in the third period. He had jusone career punt prior to this season.

    Excluding the overtime periods, Iowa State began three possessions in Iowa territory. Last season, just seven of 142 opponent possessions began on the Iowaside of the field.

    OVERTIME MEANS EXTRA STATSIowas loss at Iowa State came in three overtimes, which provided both teams

    three additional possessions to add to their total statistics. As an example, at thepoint Iowa took a 24-17 lead with 5:50 remaining in the game, the Hawkeye de-fense had performed well. At that point, Iowa State had 282 yards total offense andhad scored 10 of its 17 points on scoring drives that covered 12 yards (followinga turnover) and 21 yards. The final totals of 44 points and 473 yards total offenseincluded 17 points and 75 yards of total offense.

    PITT GETS SECOND WINPittsburgh scored on a 76-yard drive to open the game and never trailed in tak-

    ing a 35-29 home win over Maine. The Panthers added two field goals by KevinHarper to lead 12-0 before Maine cut the deficit to 12-7. A three-yard run by RayGraham and a two-point conversion with 1:45 left in the half gave Pitt a 20-7advantage at the break.

    Maine scored the first touchdown of the third quarter to cut the deficit to five, buPitt answered with short scoring runs by Graham and Zach Brown to take a 35-15lead midway through the final period. Maine responded with another touchdownat the 3:12 mark and a final score with just three seconds left to play to cut intothe Pitt margin of victory.

    Graham led the Pitt ground game, rushing for 121 yards on 28 carries and scoringthree times. Quarterback Tino Sunseri completed 21-35 passes for 224 yards, while

    Devin Street led the Panther receivers with 74 yards on six receptions.The Pittsburgh defense was led by KWaun Williams and Shane Gordon, whoeach collected six tackles. The Panther defense, while allowing 371 yards totaoffense, collected eight tackles for loss and three QB sacks.

    THE LAST MEETINGPittsburgh scored an early fourth-quarter touchdown to reclaim the lead and held

    on to defeat Iowa 21-20, at Heinz Field.The Panthers scored a touchdown with 6:06 remaining in the opening period

    Iowa PK Trent Mossbrucker, who converteda 26-yard field goal to end Iowas second driveof the game, split the uprights from a career-long distance of 39 yards to close within onepoint (21-20) with 10:58 remaining in the game.However, Iowas last three offensive possessionsstalled and Pittsburgh held on for the victory.

    Greene sparked the Hawkeyes offensively,rushing 23 times for 147 yards. TE Brandon My-ers had four receptions for 35 yards. Christensenstarted the game at quarterback, completing 12-24 passes for 124 yards. Ricky Stanzi also sawtime under center, completing 7-10 passes for 79 yards.

    Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk SeriesThe Cy-Hawk Series is in its eighth season in 2011-12, being sponsored for the first time by Iowa Corn.Iowa State leads the 2011-12 series, 5-2, with wins involleyball and football.

    Iowa leads the overall series 4-3 in the in-state com-petition against Iowa State that began in 2004-05.Iowa captured the Cy-Hawk Series a year ago by a15-11 margin.

    Last season, Iowa captured victories in football,womens soccer, wrestling, womens basketball,womens swimming and diving and softball. ISUrecorded wins in volleyball, mens and womenscross country and mens basketball. The womensgymnastics teams split.

    Iowa captured the inaugural Cy-Hawk Series (13-8)in 2004-05 and won again in 2006-07 (13-8), 2008-09 (21-4) and 2010-11 (15-11). Iowa State won thecompetition in 2005-06 (13-8) and 2007-08 (18-9)and 2009-10 (16-11).

    The 12-event series awards two points (except foot-ball, which is worth three) to the winning school ineach head-to-head match-up between the two insti-tutions. Additionally, two points are awarded to aninstitution if the graduation rate of its student-athletesis greater than the national average as reported eachfall by the NCAA.

    A commemorative Cy-Hawk Series Cup, which stands

    31 inches tall and weighs 19 pounds, is displayed onthe winning teams campus for an entire year after avictory. Replica cups are also presented as travelingtrophies for individual victorious teams in the head-to-head competition.

    COKER LEADS RUSHING ATTACKSophomore RB Marcus Coker leads the Iowa rushing attack, with 46 carries for

    181 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed a career-high 35 times for 140 yardat Iowa State, scoring on runs of one and four yards. He is tied for second in theBig Ten in rushing yards per game (90.5).

    As a true freshman in 2010, Coker started for the fourth time in Iowas InsighBowl win over Missouri. He set Iowa bowl records for rushing attempts (33and rushing yards (219) in the win. He scored on touchdown runs of one and 62yards and was named Offensive Player of the Game. He is the Sports Illustratedpreseason selection for Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.

    His season totals in 2010 included 114 carries for 622 yards and three touchdownswhile playing in just seven games. Coker rushed for over 100 yards in his firscareer start (22-129) in a win at Indiana. His rushing total a year ago ranks fourthbest for an Iowa freshman.

    VANDENBERG STEPS IN AT QBJunior James Vandenberg has stepped into the starting role as Iowas quarterback

    In two games Vandenberg has completed 29-49 (.592) passes for 426 yards andfour touchdowns, with no interceptions. Vandenberg was 16-28 for 207 yards aIowa State, with two touchdowns. He led a fourth quarter touchdown drive andadded the two-point conversion to give Iowa a 24-17 lead late in the game. Hethen led the Hawkeyes to 17 points in the three overtime periods. Vandenberg hasbeen sacked just once in two games and has 11 rushing attempts for 32 yards anda touchdown.

    Vandenberg is 2-2 in four games as Iowas starting quarterback, with the twolosses both coming in overtime (at Ohio State, 2009). He ranks fourth in the BigTen in passing yards per game (213.0).

    MEYER GETTING HIS KICKSSophomore PK Mike Meyer has made all six field goal attempts and is 7-7 in

    PAT kicks through Iowas first two games. He is tied for third nationally (MaikonBonani, South Florida) in field goals per game (3.0) and he is 14th nationally inscoring (12.5 points per game). He leads the Big Ten in kick scoring and is thirdin overall scoring.

    He had a career-best 50-yard field goal at Iowa State, while also connecting from42, 20 and 34 yards. Meyer made four field goals in a game for the second time

    in his career, as he made 4-5 in an 18-13 win at Indiana in 2010. Meyer leadsIowa in scoring with 25 points and he has made 20-23 career field goal attempts.

    KIRKSEY LEADS IN TACKLESSophomore LB Christian Kirksey leads the Iowa defense with 23 tackles (17 solo)

    in two games. Kirksey ranks third in the Big Ten in tackles. He is sixth nationallyin solo tackles and tied for 13th overall in tackles per game.

    Kirksey has 17 solo tackles, two tackles for loss and one QB sack. He led theHawkeyes with 11 solo tackles and two assists at Iowa State, while also causingand recovering an Iowa State fumble on the same play. He recorded 10 tackle(six solo stops) against Tennessee Tech in his first game as a starter.

    TOP HAWKEYE PERFORMERS

    Senior Eric Guthrie has taken over the punting duties in 2011 and is averaging43.4 yards on seven punts. Guthrie has four punts inside the 20 and opponentshave just two returns. He had a career-long 59-yard punt at Iowa State, wherehe averaged 46.8 yards on four punts.

    Senior DL Mike Daniels has collected 12 tackles in two games, including 1.5tackles for loss and one of Iowas two QB sacks. He also has two QB pressures

    Junior WR Keenan Davis had the best day of his career at Iowa State with fivereceptions for 95 yards and a touchdown. He had a 23-yard scoring catch inthe second overtime period. Davis has seven receptions for 125 yards in twogames as a starter. Davis has recorded six of Iowas 14 plays that have coveredover 20 yards, including four pass receptions and two KO returns.

    Sophomore LB James Morris has collected 17 tackles in two games, including10 tackles and a pass interception in Iowas opening win. Morris had seven solotackles at Iowa State.

    IOWAN CALLING THE SIGNALSJunior QB James Vandenberg started at quarterback in Iowas opening win

    Vandenberg is a native of Keokuk and the first native Iowan to open the season asIowas starting quarterback since 2001. The most recent Iowa native to hold thaposition was Kyle McCann of Creston. McCann led Iowa to victory in the 2001Alamo Bowl, the first bowl win for Coach Kirk Ferentz.

    Two native Iowans have led the Hawkeyes to Rose Bowl wins, including KennyPloen (Clinton) during the 1956 season and Randy Duncan (Des Moines) duringthe 1958 season. Both were first team All-Americans.

    St. Ansgar native Matt Sherman led Iowa to a pair of bowl wins (1996 Alamo and1997 Sun Bowl), while Iowa City native Paul Burmeister was Iowas quarterbackin the 1993 Alamo Bowl.

    Additional Iowa natives who passed for over 1,500 yards, but never led Iowa in abowl game, include Gary Snook (Iowa City, 1963-65), Ed Podolak (Atlantic, 1966-68, who ended his Iowa career as a prolific running back), Phil Suess (Des Moines1977-80), Randy Reiners (Ft.     those returning, DB Shaun Prater was a first team selection by both league coaches

    LB Dakota Getz will miss the remainder of the 2011 season.DiBona suffered an achilles injury during preseason practice. He underwent suc

    cessful surgery at the UI Hospitals and Clinics following the injury and is expectedto make a full recovery.

    After a redshirt season in 2009, the Duxbury, Mass. native saw action in all 13games a year ago, with two starts. He recorded six solo tackles and seven assists

    McCall suffered a broken bone in his right leg in Iowas opening win over Ten-

    nessee Tech. He had rushed for 61 yards on nine carries before suffering the injuryGetz, who missed Iowas opening win due to injury, suffered a major knee injuryon the opening kick of the Iowa State game and is expected to miss the rest of theseason.

    DOMINANT AT HOMEIowa has won 50 of its last 61 games (.820) in Kinnick Stadium, dating back to

    the 2002 season. Iowa recorded a school-record 22-game home winning streakbetween 2002-05, which ended with an overtime loss to Michigan.

    HAWKEYE EXPRESS HITS RECORDThe Hawkeye Express, which transports fans attending

    Iowa home games from the west edge of Coralville to Kin-nick Stadium, recorded an all-time high last weekend for theTennessee Tech at Iowa game. A total of 5,240 fans rode thetrain, surpassing the previous high of 4,931 riders for the BallState at Iowa game last season.

    The Hawkeye Express is operated by the Iowa NorthernRailroad Company.

    NEW PREP FOR COACHING STAFFAlong with the addition of Nebraska to the schedule, Iowa

    will face several other teams that the Hawkeyes have notplayed under the current coaching staff. Indiana, Michigan,Minnesota and Pittsburgh all have new head coaches. Iowais also playing Purdue for the first time since Danny Hopetook over as the Boilermaker head coach.

    Fry was Iowas head football coach for 20 years, posting a143-89-6 record (96-61-5 in the Big Ten). When he retiredhe was the dean of Big Ten coaches and was just the sixthfootball coach in Big Ten history to coach 20 seasons. Hiscareer record was 232-178-10.

    In 2003 he was inducted into the College Football Hall ofFame. He has also been honored with the prestigious AmosAlonzo Stagg Lifetime Achievement Award. Since that timehe has also been inducted into Iowas Athletic Hall of Fame,the Baylor Wall of Fame, The Peach and Holiday Bowl Hallsof Fame, the Rose Bowl and Sun Bowl Halls of Fame, and theNorth Texas State University Hall of Fame (formerly NTSU).

    FERENTZ JOINS CHALLENGEIowa Coach Kirk Ferentz and Iowa State Coach Paul Rhoads

    have joined forces with the Iowa Mentoring Partnership forthe 2011 Coaches Challenge. The Coaches Challenge runsfrom Aug. 1-Nov. 21 and is a competition between Iowa,Nebraska and Kansas to see which state can recruit the mostmentors.

    For three years, Kansas and Nebraska have competed in aCoaches Mentoring Challenge, with Bo Pelini (Nebraksa),Bill Snyder (Kansas State) and Turner Gill (Kansas) takingpart in the competition. Ferentz and Rhoads have joined thecompetition this season.

    According to The National Mentoring Partnership, thereare 15 million children in the nation in need of caring andquality mentors. In Iowa, it is estimated that nearly 5,000young people are currently in need of a mentor. Many ofthese children and youth are young men who would stronglybenefit from a positive male role model. The Iowa MentoringPartnership, an initiative of the Iowa Commission on Volun-teer Service, upholds the commissions mission to improvelives, strengthen communities and foster civic engagementthrough service and volunteering by supporting qualitymentoring services and by working to close the mentoringgap in our state.

    GLANCE AT THE SCHEDULEIowa plays three of its first four games in Kinnick Stadium

TheHawkeyes open Big Ten play at Penn State Oct. 8. This seasonmarks the 10th time in Kirk Ferentz 13 years at Iowa thatthe Hawkeyes will open the conference season on the roadIowa returns home to host Northwestern and Indiana beforea road game at Minnesota.     The Hawkeyes do not face Big Ten opponents Illinois, OhioState and Wisconsin in 2011 and 2012.

    TICKET UPDATEIowa has sold all tickets for its seven home games. Iowa

    has issued over 59,000 season tickets, which includes morethan 10,000 student tickets. The Iowa record for averagehome attendance is 70,585, set in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010

    Iowa has sold out Kinnick Stadium 49 of the last 51 gamesheading into the 2011 season. In addition, Iowa has sold itsallotment of tickets to road games at Iowa State, Penn StateMinnesota and Nebraska.

    DIVISION CHAMPS TO MEET IN TITLE GAMEThe Big Ten Conference will stage its first conference

    football championship game Dec. 3 at Lucas Oil Stadiumin Indianapolis. The prime time contest will be televised byFOX to a national audience.

    The Big Tens Legends Division includes Iowa, MichiganMichigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern. TheLeaders Division includes Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn

    State, Purdue and Wisconsin.

    HAWKEYES BY THE NUMBERSIowa returns 37 lettermen from 2010, including 17 on of-

    fense, 18 on defense and two specialists. The 37 returninglettermen are 11 less than a year ago. The Hawkeyes returnfive starters on both offense and defense and two specialists

    The lettermen breakdown includes six three-year lettermen11 two-year lettermen and 20 one-year lettermen. The totaroster has 114 players, and includes 18 seniors, 20 juniors22 sophomores, 19 redshirt freshmen and 35 true freshmen

    Iowas depth chart includes 17 seniors, 17 juniors, 11 sopho-mores and six redshirt freshmen.

    IOWA FOOTBALL AND THE NFL For the second straight year, Iowa had six players selected

    in the 2011 NFL Draft, and for the second straight year thatlist included a first round selection (DE Adrian Clayborn)

    Iowa was one of eight schools to have as many as six play-ers selected in the 2011 NFL Draft.

    Only two schools, USC (16) and Florida (13), have hadmore players selected in the past two seasons.

    The Iowa football program was represented by 33 playerson opening day NFL rosters. As many as eight additionaformer Hawkeyes with NFL experience are listed as freeagents, on injured reserve or on practice squads.

    Iowa in 2011 Statistics Iowa ranks eighth nationally (second among Big Ten

    teams) in number former players currently active in theNFL, behind Miami, FL, USC, Texas, Tennessee, OhioState, Georgia and LSU.

    All 11 members of Iowas starting defensive unit in 2008were either drafted in the last three NFL drafts or signedto NFL free agent contracts following the drafts.

    Over the past 12 years, 98 of 114 (86%) of Iowas seniorstarters have been drafted in the NFL or signed NFL freeagent contracts.

    HAWKEYES POST 8-5 RECORD IN 2010Iowa concluded the 2010 season with a 27-24 win over 12th

    ranked Missouri in the Insight Bowl. The Hawkeyes earnedtheir second straight bowl victory over a top-15 opponent andhave won three consecutive bowl games for the first time inschool history. Iowa improved its bowl record to 14-10-1.

    The Insight Bowl win over the Tigers marked Iowas fourth2010 victory over a ranked opponent, the most by an Iowateam since 2003. Iowa played seven ranked opponents in2010, the most for the Hawkeyes under Kirk Ferentz. Eigh

    of Iowas 2010 opponents competed in bowl games, withIowa compiling a 4-4 record against those teams.

    Iowas record came against one of the toughest schedules inthe nation. In each of Iowasfive losses, the Hawkeyes wereeither tied or leading in the fourth quarter. Iowasfive lossescame by a total of 18 points and the four league losses wereby a collective 11 points. Iowas most impressive wins were a37-6 win over Michigan State, which shared the Big Ten titlewhile posting an 11-2 overall record, and the Insight Bowwin over Missouri (10-3), which tied for the North Divisiontitle in the Big 12 Conference.

    IOWA VS. RANKED OPPONENTS

    Iowa posted a 4-3 record while facing seven ranked oppo-nents in 2010, the most for a Kirk Ferentz coached Hawkeyeteam. Iowa played six ranked teams in 1999 and 2003. Thefour wins over ranked teams are the most for Iowa since post-ing a 4-2 record vs. six ranked opponents in 2003.

    Three of Iowas seven opponents were ranked in the top10, while Missouri was 12th. Iowa lost to No. 10 Wisconsin(31-30), defeated No. 5 Michigan State (37-6) and lost to No7 Ohio State (20-17), all in Kinnick Stadium. In 2009, Iowadefeated No. 4 Penn State and No. 9 Georgia Tech, whilelosing at No. 8 Ohio State in overtime.

    With the 37-6 win over fifth-ranked Michigan State(10/30/10), Iowa has recorded a victory over a top-five rankedteam in each of the last three seasons. Iowa defeated fourthranked Penn State (21-10) on the road in 2009 and defeatedthe third-ranked Nittany Lions (24-23) in Kinnick Stadiumin 2008.

    Along with defeating Michigan State, Iowa defeated Missouri (#12), Penn State (#20) and Michigan (#24). Alongwith losses to Wisconsin and Ohio State, Iowa lost at No18 Arizona.

    In Big Ten play, Iowas eight opponents posted an overalrecord of 62-34 during the regular season. Iowa did not playIllinois and Purdue.
