    Iowa State (2-4, 0-3 Big 12) travels to Texas (2-4, 1-2 Big 12) to face the Longhorns Saturday nighat Darrell K. Royal Stadium.

    Texas leads the all-time series vs. Iowa State at 10-1. ISUs lone win in the series was at Texas ina 28-21 victory in 2010. ISU is 1-5 vs. UT in games played in Austin.

    The game will be carried on both the Longhorn Network and Cyclones.tv. Mediacom subscriberscan watch the game on its Cyclones.tv channel. Cyclones.tv online subscribers can only watchthe game if you live in the state of Iowa. The LHN is now available on DISH Network.

    ISUs first six opponents have a combined 30-6 overall mark, the highest opponent winningpercentage (83.3 pct.) in FBS. The Cyclones have faced three ranked teams (Kansas State,4-1; Baylor, 6-0; Oklahoma State, 5-1). Iowa (5-1) is receiving votes, North Dakota State (6-0)

    is the No. 1-rated team in FCS and three-time defending national champion and Toledo (4-3) isleading the MAC West Conference. The latest Sagarin ratings lists ISUs schedule as the secondtoughest in the nation.

    Iowa State scored 28 second-half points to rally from a halftime deficit to defeat Toledo, 37-30Saturday afternoon in Jack Trice Stadium. The win was the first for the Cyclones at home thisseason.

    The star of Saturdays game was junior QB Sam Richardson, who set career highs in completions(37), passing yardage (351) and total offense (382). Richardsons 37 completions broke theschool record for completions in a game, eclipsing Steele Jantz (2012) and Austen Arnauds(2008) former record of 36.

    Head coach Paul Rhoads is in his sixth season as the Cyclone leader with a career record of 29-40. Hes led the Cyclones to three bowl games (2009 Insight Bowl, 2011 Pinstripe Bowl, 2012Liberty Bowl) in his first five seasons. Rhoads has recorded a win over a ranked team in threeof the last four seasons and has defeated a league opponent on the road in each of his first fiveseasons, only the second coach in ISU history to achieve the feat.

    Iowa State set an all-time attendance record last season of 55,361 with three sellouts. ISU hassold over 40,000 season tickets for the third-straight season. Over 50,000 fans have attended agame in Jack Trice Stadium for a school-record 23-straight games.

    PK Cole Netten leads the nation in FG pct. (7-7 FG) as just one six kickers left in FBS still perfecon their FG attempts (7 or more attempts). Hes made 10 FGs in a row dating back to last year.

    Iowa State failed to score a point in the second half in its first two games, but has scored 80second-half points in its last four games, averaging 20.0 second half points in that span.

    ISU has won or tied the turnover battle in its last four games and has a +3 turnover differentiaduring that span after forcing zero turnovers in its first two games. The Cyclones have committedonly five turnovers (4 interceptions, 1 fumble) on the season, leading the Big 12 Conference andranking seventh nationally.

    With just one fumble lost this year, ISU is tied for third nationally in that category.

    A total of 14 Cyclones have received their first career starts, including five freshmen (LB Alton

    Texas leads the all-time series vs. Iowa State at 10-1.

    Iowa States lone win in the series was in 2010 when Coach Rhoads led the Cyclones to a 28-21upset win over No. 22 Texas in Austin in his second season at the helm.

    ISU is 1-5 in games played in Austin.

    UT won last years game in Ames, 31-30. QB Sam Richardson hooked up with QuentonBundrage for a 97-yard TD pass, the longest pass play in school history and the longest play

    from scrimmage in Jack Trice Stadium history.

    Richardson ended the game with a then-career-high 262 yards passing and had 83 yards rushing

    RB Aaron Wimberly had 117 yards rushing on a career-high 29 carries, including his first careeTD run.

    Sophomore LB Luke Knott had 11 tackles and forced a fumble in last years game.

    TOLEDO RECAP Iowa State recorded a season-high 454 yards of total offense in a 37-30 victory over Toledo Saturday

    afternoon in Jack Trice Stadium.

    The Cyclones were down at the half, 13-9, but scored four 2nd-half TDs behind QB Sam Richardsonsrecord-setting performance.

    The junior signal-caller set career-highs in completions (37), attempts (53), receiving yards (351

    and total offense (382), including establishing a new Iowa State single-game school mark of 37completions.

    Richardson, who also tossed three TD passes to give him 29 in his career (5th-best all-time in schoohistory), was 21-of-27 passing in the second half.

    In ISUs last three victories, the Cyclones were trailing at halftime.

    Richardsons favorite targets were DVario Montgomery and Allen Lazard, as both wideoutsestablished career highs in receptions and receiving yards. Montgomery had nine catches for 90yards and Lazard had eight catches for 96 yards and a TD.

    TE E.J. Bibbs caught five passes for 33 yards and a TD. Bibbs leads the team with four TDs.

    Bibbs has caught a pass in 18-straight games, tying for the ninth-best streak in school history.

    On the ground, junior RB DeVondrick Nealy rushed for a career-high 71 yards and freshman MartinezSyria recorded his first career TD.

    ISU did not commit a turnover for the second-straight game and has just two turnovers in its last

    four games. Kamari Cotton-Moya and Jared Brackens led the Cyclones with 12 tackles each. Luke Knott had nine

    tackles and led the team with 2.5 TFL, helping the Cyclones rack up 7.0 TFL in the game.

    Placekicker Cole Netten continued his torrid pace on the season, drilling all three of his field goaattempts (32, 36, 38). Netten is 7-of-7 on his field goal attempts this season and has made 10-straighFGs dating back to last season.

    Tad Ecbys only catch of the game was a 23-yard TD. He has two catches this season, both for TDs

    Paul Rhoads has built the Iowa State football program into a consistent player on the collegiatefootball scene with three bowl bids in the last five years.

    The Iowa State fanbase has paid attention. Thanks to the recent success and Rhoads enormous

    popularity, the Cyclones are shattering all attendance records. Over 50,000 people have attended a game in Jack Trice Stadium for a school-record 23-straight

    games.

    Thanks to Rhoads, eight of the top-10 most attended games in school history have occurred inthe last two seasons, including three sellouts in 2013 (UNI, Iowa, Oklahoma State).

    ISUs top-three single-season attendance figures occurred in the last three seasons.

    ISU broke its season attendance record in 2013 at 55,361.

    ISU sold out its first two home games (North Dakota State, Kansas State), as the Cyclones havefive sellouts at home in their last nine games.

    The 2014 capacity of Jack Trice Stadium is 54,800 because construction in the south end zone.

    THE CYCLONE DEFENSE Against Iowa, the Cyclones posted its top defensive effort of the season, holding the Hawkeyes to

    275 yards of total offense, Iowas lowest output in the series since 2008 and the lowest total theCyclone defense has allowed since Sept. 15, 2012 (178 yards) vs. Western Illinois.

    The ISU defense held Iowa to just 102 yards in the second half.

    Against Oklahoma State, the Cyclones had held the high-octane Cowboy offense to just six first-halfpoints until a goal-line stand on the final play of the half was overturned.

    Oklahoma State had 400 yards of total offense, their second-lowest total of the season.

    The Cyclones are currently sixth in the Big 12 in sacks, registering 10 in the first six games. ISUis showing significant improvement in the sack category. Here is a look at ISUs sack totals in theRhoads era: 2014, 10; 2013, 15; 2012, 15; 2011, 17; 2010, 11; 2009, 16.

    With 10 sacks through six games, the Cyclones are on pace to have their best sack total in years.

    ISU has won or tied the turnover battle in the last four games (Iowa, 2-1; Baylor 1-1; Oklahoma State,2-0, Toledo, 0-0). ISU has a +3 turnover differential in its last four games.

    OFFENSE FINDING RHYTHM Like the Cyclone defense, the Cyclone offense has improved in each game this season.

    Under new OC Mark Mangino, the Cyclones have accumulated 253 yards (North Dakota State), 319yards (Kansas State), 337 yards (Iowa), 339 yards (Baylor), 322 yards (Oklahoma State) and 454 tards(Toledo) of total offense in each game.

    In the Iowa game, the Cyclones scored on their final two drives (9-plays, 92 yards, TD; 11-plays, 51yards, FG with 0:02) to post a come-from-behind win on the road.

    Against Toledo, ISU racked up a season-high 454 yards of total offense behind a school-record 37completions from Sam Richardson. Four different receivers had five or more catches in the game.

    ISU has two 92-yard TD drives this season (Iowa; Baylor).

    Against Baylor, all four of its scoring drives were 75 yards or longer.

    Mangino continues to implement his spread the wealth style of offense. Seven different Cycloneshave 10 or more catches on the season. 15 Cyclones have caught a pass this season.

    In the red zone, the Cyclones are 18-of-19 (94.7 percent) with 13 TDs this season, ranking eighthnationally and second in the Big 12.

    ISU is 16th nationally in 3rd down conversions this season at 47.4 percent (44-92).

    11 of ISUs 18 TDs this season were attributed to scoring drives of 75 yards or longer.

    ISU failed to score a point in the second half in its first two games, but have tallied 80 points afterintermission in its last four games, averaging 20.0 second-half points during that span.

    JARVIS WEST IS ISUS PLAYMAKER

    Senior Jarvis West has proven to be one of ISUs most dangerous offensive threats.

    West has already solidified himself as one of the best returners in ISU history. His career 25.7kickoff return average ranks second all-time in school history. He returned a kickoff for a TD last yeavs. Texas Tech (95 yards), tying for the fourth-longest KO return in school history. He also had a KOreturn for a TD called back in the 2011 Pinstripe Bowl.

    He is also one of the best punt returners in the nation, averaging 23.6 yards in five punts. Henotched his first career punt return for a TD against Kansas State (Sept. 6), rambling 82 yards topaydirt. It was the ninth-longest punt return in school history.

    West has two punt returns of over 20 yards this season: 24 vs. North Dakota State; 82 vs. KansasState.

    West had one of the greatest opening periods in ISU history vs. Kansas State when he caught a17-yard TD pass, returned a punt 82 yards for a TD and threw a 29-yard TD pass in the first half.

    West was named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week, Hornung Award Honor Roll and CFPAPunt Returner of the Week after his performance vs. Kansas State.

    He became just the third player in FBS or FCS to achieve the feat since 1998.

    He also became just the fourth player in ISU history to record a kickoff return and punt return for aTD in school history: Dick Howard, Don Ferguson and Tom Vaughn. Vaughn was the last Cyclone todo it in 1963.

    Overall, West has been responsible for a TD in five different combinations in his career: TD rush, TDcatch, TD pass, TD punt return, TD kickoff return, the only current player in the nation to claim this.

    West, who has been added to the Hornung Award Watch list, is ISUs active leader in receptions(92).

    He recorded a career-high eight catches vs. Kansas State.

    West is second on the team in catches (21) and is third in receiving yards (174).

    ALLEN LAZARD OFF TO A GREAT START

    True freshman WR Allen Lazard is having a fantastic start to his Cyclone career.

    Lazard is the first true freshman offensive player to record a start since WR Josh Lenz did it in 2009

    Lazard was inserted into a starting role after the untimely loss to ISUs top returning receiverQuenton Bundrage, who tore his ACL in the season-opener vs. North Dakota State.

    Lazard has 21 catches for a team-high 304 yards receiving, which already ranks fifth all-time amongCyclone rookie receivers in both categories.

    His 304 receiving yards is 11th nationally among rookie receivers.

    Hes caught a pass in all six games.

    Had a breakout game vs. Toledo, setting career highs in catches (8) and receiving yards (96).

    SAM RICHARDSON IN CONTROL OF OFFENSE

    Junior QB Sam Richardson claimed the role of signal-caller of the Iowa State offense in fall campand has been solid.

    Richardson has 29 career TD passes, ranking fifth all-time in school history, 3,292 career passingyards, the 10th-best total in school history.

    He is completing 60.1 percent of his passes this season (137-228) and leads the team in rushingwith 283 yards, one of eight QBs in FBS to lead his team in rushing and passing.

    His 304 career completions ranks eighth all-time in school history.

    After intermission, Richardson is completing 65.5 percent of his passes (78-of-119).

    Against Iowa, Richardson was 25-of-36 for 255 yards and 2 TDs, including completing 17-of-21passes in the second half to help ISU overcome an 11-point halftime deficit.

    Against Baylor, Richardson ran for a team-season-high 99 yards. His 47-yard TD run is the longest rushof the season for the Cyclones.

    Against Toledo, Richardson broke the school-record for completions in a game (37), establishingcareer bests in completions, passing yardage (351) and total offense (382). He completed 21-of-27second half passes to help the Cyclones overcome a halftime deficit.

    Richardson completed a career-best 14-straight passes vs. Kansas State.

    FARNIOK IS THE SEASONED VETERAN

    Senior co-captain Tom Farniok is the seasoned veteran of the Cyclones, registering a team-high 41starts, which ranks third among active Big 12 players.

    Farniok, a two-time HM All-Big 12 selection at center, is on both the Rimington Award and theWeurffel Trophy watch lists.

    Along with senior RT Jacob Gannon, Farniok is one of two Cyclones on the team to start at least onegame in the last four seasons.

    A native of Sioux Falls, S.D., Farniok calls the shots at the line scrimmage and his leadership has beeninstrumental in the success of the Cyclone offense.

    Farniok was injured in the second quarter of the North Dakota State game and did not play the restof the game, as the Cyclone offense sputtered in the second half.

    Farniok went 3-0 against intrastate rival in his four years as a Cyclone. He was injured in ISUs loss toIowa in 2013 and did not play in the game.

    Farniok spent the summer as an assistant strength and conditioning coach working with the IowaState mens basketball team. He wants to be a strength and conditioning coach when his footballcareer is over.

    Seniors Cory Morrissey and Jevohn Miller are the leaders of the Iowa State defense in 2014.

    DE Morrissey is off to a fantastic start to his final year as a Cyclone, leading the team in tackles forloss (5.5) and sacks (4.0).

    Morrissey was named the Big 12s Defensive Player of the Week after his performance vs. Iowawhen he registered career highs in tackles (7), TFL (3.0) and sacks (2.0) against All-American Iowa LTBrandon Scherff.

    Morrissey is seventh in the Big 12 and 47th nationally in sacks (4.0).

    Morrisseys is ISUs active career leader in sacks (6.0) and TFL (14.0).

    LB Miller is third in the Big 12 and ranks 25th nationally in tackles per game at 10.2.

    Miller moved to Mike linebacker after the season-opener vs. North Dakota State and it has paiddividends for the Cyclone defense.

    Miller has led the Cyclones in tackles in four of six games, including a career-high 17 stops vs. Baylor.He tallied his first career sack vs. Oklahoma State.

    Miller has totaled nine or more tackles in five of six games.

    Miller is ISUs active career leader in tackles (129).

    NETTEN KICKING HIS WAY INTO THE RECORD BOOKS

    Sophomore Cole Netten is on pace to have one of the finest seasons by a placekicker in Cyclonehistory.

    Netten is still perfect on the season, drilling 18-of-18 PATs and 7-of-7 FGs to lead the team in scoringwith 39 points.

    Netten is one of only six kickers in FBS still perfect this year with seven or more attempts.

    Dating back to last season, Netten is 14-of-16 on his FG attempts in his last 10 games and has made10-straight field goals.

    Against Iowa, Netten hit the game-winning FG, a 42-yarder with 0:02 seconds left. He also hit acareer-long 47-yarder in the game. He was named Big 12s Special Teams Player of the Week after hisperformance vs. the Hawkeyes.

    Against Toledo, he tied his career high by making three field goals.

    In his career, Netten is 20-of-25 (80 pct.) and is 15-of-16 (93.8 pct.) inside 40 yards.

    BIG PLAY BIBBS Senior TE E.J. Bibbs is one of the nations best tight ends.

    Bibbs was a preseason All-Big 12 First-Team choice and made the mideseason cut on the Mackey Award Watch List for the nations best tight end.

    Bibbs had surgery on his knee during fall camp and is just starting to get back to 100 percent.

    Bibbs leads the team in receptions (22) and TDs (4), and is second in receiving yards (190).

    Bibbs has caught a pass in all 18 games of his career, including multiple catches in 17 of 18 career games. His 18-game streak of catching a pass is thebest streak established by an ISU TE and ties for ninth overall in school history.

    His 61 career catches ranks fifth all-time among ISU tight ends and his 652 yards receiving is the fourth-best total ever by an ISU tight end.

    Against Oklahoma State, Bibbs registered season highs in catches (6) and receiving yards (69), and caught a career-high two TD passes. He earned CFPATight End Performer of the Week for his efforts.

    Bibbs was an All-Big 12 Second-Team selection in 2013 after catching 39 passes for 462 yards. His 39 catches a year ago was the second-highest seasontotal by an ISU tight end.

    2014 CAPTAINS

    The Iowa State players voted on their captains and this year three players emerged as co-captains for the 2014 season.

    All three are seniors: E.J. Bibbs (TE), Tom Farniok (OL) and Cory Morrissey (DE).

    The three captains all earned All-Big 12 recognition last season and are on various national award watch lists.

    CYCLONES IN THE NFL

    Iowa State currently has six players on 53-man NFL rosters.

    Players on NFL Rosters:Tim Dobbins (Atlanta Falcons), Leonard Johnson (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), A.J. Klein (Carolina Panthers), Kelechi Osemele(Baltimore Ravens), Ahtyba Rubin (Cleveland Browns) and Jeremiah George (Jacksonville Jaguars).

    George is the latest Cyclone to be drafted, getting selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft by the New York Jets. He is now with the JacksonvilleJaguars. George led the Big 12 and ranked fourth nationally in tackles in 2013 at 11.1.

    ISU has had an NFL draftee in each of the last three seasons.

    REMEMBERING CURTIS BRAY

    Curtis Bray, who was on head coach Paul Rhoads Iowa State staff the last five seasons, passed away suddenly from a pulmonary embolism in Januaryat the age of 43.

    Bray was ISUs defensive end coach from 2009-13, tutoring multiple defensive ends to All-Big 12 recognition.

    Iowa State will honor Brays legacy by adorning a patch on their helmets of his initials CB throughout the entire season.

    ISU DE Cory Morrissey, who earned All-Big 12 honors in 2013 under Brays leadership, changed his uniform number to 58 in honor of Bray, who wore thesame number in his outstanding career at Pittsburgh.

    DEALING WITH INJURIES

    Iowa State has already lost seven significant contributors to season-ending injuries this season.

    Quenton Bundrage, ISUs leading receiver in 2013 (48 catches, 676 yards, 9 TDs), had his junior season ended on the fourth play of the 2014 seasonwhen he tore his ACL vs. North Dakota State in the season-opener.

    Ben Loth, ISUs backup center, went down with a knee injury on the first day of fall camp.

    Special teams dynamo Levi Peters ruptured his achilles vs. Kansas State.

    WR P.J. Harris, who had nine catches in the first three games, had his season ended with a knee injury vs. Iowa, along with backup offensive linemanJacob Dunning.

    WR Brett Medders suffered a season-ending injury in practice prior to the Baylor game.

    Junior OL Brock Dagel, who had started 15 consecutive games, had his season shelved after the Oklahoma State game.

    SOUTH END ZONE PROJECT

    Ground has broken on the south end zoneproject at Jack Trice Stadium which isscheduled to be completed in Aug. of 2015.
