Invite you to join Us for Conversa on Sabbath! Conversa on Sabbath is an ini a ve of Reimagine End of Life, a City‐wide, week‐long collec on of events exploring death, dying, and bereavement, and celebra ng life through the arts, spirituality, health care, and innova on. Reimagine week is April 16 ‐ 22.
In partnership with the City of San Francisco and the San Francisco Interfaith Council, Reimagine is invi ng clergy throughout San Francisco to preach, teach or engage about the vital importance of having values‐centered conversa ons with our loved ones about what ma ers when it comes to care at the end of life.
Here’s how it works. We are asking congrega ons to:
Have clergy “preach from the pulpit” on the sabbath prior to Reimagine week, which means April 13‐15
Hold an educa on hour that Sabbath or on a day during Reimagine week to discuss with congregants how to start the conversa on around end of life concerns with loved ones
Hold a follow up “how did it go” educa on hour 2 weeks later – week of April 30 – May 2
Encourage congregants to par cipate in other Reimagine week programming
The City will organize neighborhood workshops for filling out advanced care documents and direc ves during Reimagine week and one month a er ‐ May 14 –20.
Please include informa on about Reimagine Week in your communica ons to your congrega on
We are providing free resources and training for clergy. We are also encouraging and suppor ng congrega‐ons that want to par cipate in or host other Reimagine events throughout the City.
If Conversa on Sabbath doesn’t fit into your schedule, please consider adap ng the framework to your com‐munity, or consider other programming that would engender conversa on around end of life during Reimag‐ine week. The goal is to encourage conversa on in whatever way your community will engage the issues.

REIMAGINE / END OF LIFE
Join a notable network of Bay Area artists, storytellers, health care professionals,
innovators, religious communities, and community and cultural organizations coming
together to catalyze a citywide conversation about end of life. The week-long experience
expects to engage 5,000 attendees at more than 50 events exploring this taboo topic.
As a new non-profit organization, Reimagine is partnering with the City of San Francisco,
through the Palliative Care Work Group, whose members include UCSF, Kaiser
Permanente, Sutter Health, Zuckerberg SF General Hospital, SF Department of Aging &
Adult Services, Veterans Affairs, Zen Hospice Project and Jewish family and Children’s
Services, among others. Our collective belief is that high-quality end-of-life care must be
consistent with our wishes and values, and that begins with honest conversations.
Reimagine was prototyped in 2016 as a week-long event series, with more than 100 event
hosts at venues across the San Francisco Bay Area. It was inspired by OpenIDEO’s End of
Life Challenge as part of a special project to investigate the intersection of art, community, and end of life. For 2018, Reimagine | End of Life wants to engage the full,
diverse spectrum of the San Francisco Bay Area and all cultures represented.
CREATING A 360° EXPERIENCE FOR 2018 We invite YOU to help us engage your community!
