Session 1b. Choosing the right BI model for your business Chaired by: Dan Taffler, Co-operative Group How do you start planning a BI department from scratch, or enhancing the one that you have? A key consideration is making sure that the BI model you’re proposing fits with your business model, your information needs and your current and future skill base. This presentation will focus on: n The advantages and disadvantages of three main BI models - centralised, federated, bi-modal n Key signs in your business that help identify which model is likely to be best for you n How selecting a BI model helps shape a BI roadmap, organisational structure and toolset Session 2. BI Tool “Bake Off” Panel: Mike Cox, Richard Jones, Hanzala Qureshi and Dave Williams Working with a common data set, the panel from KPMG will run three simultaneous live demonstrations to build a data visualisation application in Tableau, QlikView and Power BI. The aim is to demonstrate the key capabilities of each tool and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each. Session 3. An Introduction to the Single Customer View (SCV) Chaired by: Dan Taffler, Co-operative group SCV databases have become a key tool in helping understand customers and driving commercial value from interactions with them, but can a database really be used to develop a relationship with your customers and does it always make sense to go to the expense of creating one?
