erProf Sukhadeo Thorat, an eminent growth economist highly ranked in the national and international governance and academic world having been the former Chairman of UGC and presently the Chairman of Indian Council of Social Science Research, Ministry of HRD, Govt of India and Professor Emeritus Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi since August 2014. As a UGC Chairman, he turned around the higher education and as ICSSR Chairman looking after 30 National Research Institutes and six Regional Centres. He has been associated with several committees of the Govt of India, state governments and public enterprises.
