Introductory Course to DIR Model & Floortime Intervention for Parents

The programme aim and content: D.I.R. /Floortime™ is a way of intervening with children who have difficulty communicating and relating to others. This course is designed for parents of children with behaviours that place them on the autistic spectrum and/or whom have challenges in communicating and relating, attending and learning.

DIR / Floortime™ aims and objectives:

• Enables the child to learn how to interact and communicate with others

• Each child’s individual differences are assessed

• It focuses on the fundamentals of life to be regulated, calm and organised

• Helps children to think for themselves and become independent (prompt dependency)

• Aides communication

• Sets children up to cope with the outside world –problem solving

• Helps children feel good about themselves

• Helps reduce behaviours

• Helps reduce anxiety

• Helps increase self esteem

• Helps the child feel happy and content in life

The founders of CTC Autism are the first professionals in the UK to gain the ICDL and the Profectum certificates. CTC Autism is the first UK company to offer training to professionals and families within the DIR Floortime™ approach. The company is also the first to embed the approach into schools within the UK. CTC Autism believes in integrating different approaches with the emphasis on ensuring that learning is based on the development of the individual.

The course will be delivered by:

Sian Nash (BSc Psychology) Managing Director and Frie Heyndrickx (MA) Training Director. Sian is an expert DIR Floortime™ provider and currently delivering training worldwide within the Profectum certificate programme. Frie is an expert DIR Floortime™ provider and is currently teaching and supervising online courses within the certification programme of ICDL.
