Senior Project/ Extended Essay

At the Center of the IB

what is it?

� Personal research � Student chooses the subject and the

question �  4,000 words (or equivalent) in an IB

subject.

what is it? � SP is any topic of interest and in a

variety of formats with a 1,000 word report.

� The emphasis is put on creative project.

Place in Student learning � EE-Required for the IB Diploma � EE-Counts towards additional IB

diploma points along with TOK

Place in Student learning � SP- Required for UNIS Diploma

� SP-can be used for CAS, “Creative”

� Both (EE/SP) can be used for college process

The Process (Spring)

Identify the subject (student)

History, Language, Philosophy, Art = Readings and analysis

Sciences, Mathematics, Economics, Anthropology = More experimental and data collection.

Two routes
