This user guide provides the procedure to install and use the Sonim PC-Tools application. It also explains the synchronization between a computer and a Sonim phone.

IntroductionSonim PC-Tools application is used to synchronize contact, calendar and related information between a computer and a Sonim phone. It also facilitates data transfer between a computer and a Sonim phone.

System RequirementsThis section explains the hardware and software requirements on the computer to install the Sonim PC-Tools application.

This section provides the procedure to download and install Sonim PC-Tools application on your computer.

Downloading PC-Tools1. Download the Mobile Phone PC Tools installer

from the URL http://www.sonimtech.com/support/downloads.php.

2. Select the appropriate phone model to download Mobile Phone PC Tools.

3. Click Accept to accept the terms of the disclaimer and to continue downloading.

4. Select the destination folder in your computer to save the zipped file.

Installing Sonim PC-ToolsThere are two modes of installing Sonim PC- Tools application on your computer.

• Installing Sonim PC-Tools Application

• Upgrading an Existing Mobile Phone PC Tools Application.

Installing Sonim PC- Tools Application

1. Navigate to your destination folder and click the Autorun.exe file.

2. Click Install Sonim PC-Tools to start the installation.

3. Select the language and click Next.

4. Click Next to continue with the installation.

5. Accept the terms of the license agreement. Click

Next to continue.

6. Select the destination folder to install Mobile Phone PC Tools. The default destination folder is C:\Program Files\Sonim PC-Tools. Click Next to continue.

7. Enter the destination folder name and click Next to continue.

8. Click Install to begin the installation.

9. Select the suitable restart option and click Finish to complete the installation.

Upgrading Phone PC-Tools Application

To upgrade your PC-tools application:

1. Navigate to your destination folder and click the Autorun.exe file.

2. Click Install Sonim PC-Tools to start the installation.

3. Select Yes, to remove the old Mobile Phone PC Tools application and all its features.

4. Proceed with step 3 in “Installing Sonim PC- Tools Application” on page 4.

Sonim PC-Tools application provides synchronization between a computer and your Sonim phone, including the contact and calendar to ensure that both media have complete up-to-date data at the same time.

1. Connecting the Sonim Phone to the Computer

Click the Sonim PC-Tools icon on your computer desktop. Unless the phone is connected, all the menus except Interface Setup is disabled.

You can connect a Sonim phone to the PC-Tools application using USB cable or Bluetooth connection .

Using USB Cable

1. Connect the Sonim phone to the USB port of the computer using a USB cable.

2. Once the USB cable is connected, the USB configuration screen is displayed on the phone.

3. Select COM Port and click OK.

Using Bluetooth

1. Click Interface setup.

2. Select mobile XP5560 and select the option Bluetooth.

3. Click Search > OK.

The list of phones that can be connected using Bluetooth is displayed.

4. Select the desired phone and Click Pair ( ).

5. Enter a Passcode and select Pair.

6. Enter the same Passcode in the phone.

If pairing is successful, Phone with Paired icon ( ) is displayed in PC tools.

7. Change the authorize permission in Phone to Always Connect. Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth > My Device > Select the Device > Options > Authorize > Always connect.

8. Select the phone and click on Default phone ( ), to set the connected phone as the default phone to be connected in future.

Phone with Default connection Icon ( ) is displayed in the PC-tools.

9. Click on Home ( ) and then select OK.

Phone will be connected to PC Tools via Bluetooth.

Using Sync ManagerSync Manager provides synchronization between your computer and your mobile phone, including contact and calendar, to ensure that both media have complete up-to-date data at the same time.

1. Launch Sonim PC-Tools. Click the Sync Manager.

Click Cancel to change the Sync Manager settings before Outlook Synchronization.

2. Click OK to start synchronization.

ols3. Click OK. While synchronizing, a dialog from

Microsoft Outlook appears to check if you will allow the program to access the data stored in Microsoft Outlook. You can select the box and allow the access for certain time, and click Yes to accept. Click No to deny the access.

4. Click Setting to set up each item before synchronization.

5. For Contact, click Setting and then select the Outlook Data File and the Outlook Folder. Click Advanced... for additional settings.

6. For Calendar, click Setting and then select the Outlook Data File, the Outlook Folder and the Date Range for synchronization. Click Advanced for additional settings.

Managing Phonebook Using PC-ToolsUsing PC-Tools, you can view, edit and delete your phonebook entries, from the phone. You can also upload any changes back to the phone.

1. Click Phonebook in the Sonim PC-Tools screen. The phonebook can be displayed in report or card format. Click the Report or Card icon located at the bottom of the Phonebook screen, to display the preferred phonebook format.

2. To add a new contact, click . Select SIM card or Mobile to store the information in your mobile phone or in the SIM card. Click Save to save and exit.

3. To edit a contact, double-click a contact or select the contact and click . Click Save to save and exit.

4. To delete a contact, select the contact and click .

5. To search a contact in the phonebook, Click . Enter the contact name and click Find Next.

6. To export the phonebook to .CSV format and save it in the PC, click . Do not make any changes to the saved data in PC.

7. To import the phonebook from your PC to mobile phone, click . Select the .CSV file you want to import and click Open. Select the contacts and drag-and-drop to transfer the contacts.

8. To refresh the phonebook, click .

9. To send SMS to contacts, select the contact(s) to send SMS. Click icon to open the new message window. Enter the message and click Send to send the message or Cancel to exit.

Managing Calendar Using PC-ToolsYou can view, edit, delete or add the calendar entries from your phone and upload changes back to your phone.

1. Click Calendar in the Sonim PC-Tools screen. The calendar can be displayed in day, week, month or list format. Click the Day, Week, Month or List icon located at the bottom of the Calendar screen, to display the preferred calendar format.

2. To add a new event, click . Click Save to handset to save and exit.

Managing your MessagesYou can use the SMS Manager to read, delete, send and receive messages from and to the mobile phone.

1. Click SMS Manager in the Sonim PC-Tools screen

2. To start a new message, click . Type the phone number or, click Contacts to select one or more contacts from the phonebook. Type the contents. Click Send to send the message or click Save to draft to save the message in the draft folder.

3. To reply to a message, select the message you want to reply to and click . Type the contents. Click Send to send the message or click Save to draft to save the message in the draft folder.

4. To save the sender, time and contents of a message as a text file, select the message and click .

5. To print a message, select the message to be printed and click .

6. To delete a message, select the message and click .

7. To edit a message in the Drafts folder, Click draft folder, select a message from the draft folder and click . The contents last edited is displayed on the Reply window. Edit the contents or click Send to reply the message. Click Cancel to exit.

8. To refresh SMS manager, click .

Managing GPRS ConnectionYou can use the GPRS Manager to get GPRS connection (wireless dial -up connection).

1. Click Internet Connection in the Sonim PC-Tools screen

2. To create a new GPRS connection, click .

3. To use default settings, select Use default setting or setup manually and click Save. The GPRS icon is displayed.

4. To connect to Internet, click enter the number. Click Properties to select the modem and enter the settings. Click OK to save the settings. Click Dial to dial.

5. To disconnect, click .

6. To edit a GPRS entry, click .

7. To delete a GPRS entry, click .

8. To set a default GPRS entry, select the entry and click .

To Manually Create a New Internet Connection

1. Click New Internet Connection ( ).

2. Select the desired Country/Region and Operator.

3. Uncheck Use default settings.

4. Select Internet tab and enter the correct APN details.

For example: For AT&T network, the APN is wap.cingular.

5. Save the settings.

Managing Media FilesYou can view, delete or copy images and audio files from your phone to the PC and also from your PC to the phone.

1. Click Media Manager in the Sonim PC-Tools screen. The Media Manager screen displays the images and audio files of the PC and Phone.

2. To send an audio or image file by e-mail, click .

sHow can I view the calendar events in order:

If the calendar events are not displayed in order, Select Refresh option to get correct Order. If the order is still incorrect, Click the Date column to view the events in ascending or descending order.

Past events deleted from phone, are synced again from Microsoft Outlook even when “Synchronize only Future appointments” is selected during synchronization.

While synchronizing the events with option “Synchronize only Future appointments” enabled, the past events that are recurring in Outlook , will be synchronized.

Past Events which are deleted from outlook are still present in Phone after synchronizing with options “Sync to Mobile” and “Synchronize only Future appointments” enabled.

While synchronizing the events with option “Sync to Mobile” and “Synchronize only Future appointments” enabled, the events present in the phone, but deleted in MS Outlook will not get deleted. Only the future events present in MS Outlook will be synced to the phone.

Contacts may get deleted from the phone after synchronizing contacts but are present in the Outlook.

While synchronizing the contacts select the correct Outlook Folder. Go to Sync Manager > Cancel > Settings > Unmark the default Outlook folder > Browse the correct MS Outlook Folder > OK > OK.

How to sync the contacts or calendar events only to Mobile without changing the contents in Outlook?

To sync the contacts and calendar events only in the mobile, click Sync Manager > Cancel > Settings >

Advanced > Select Sync to Mobile> OK >OK.

Can I use the same Sync manager Settings for both Contacts and Calendar?

No. The settings in Sync Manager for Contacts and Calendar is different. The settings for contacts and Calendar should be set Individually.

Sonim PC tools does not get installed in Mac systems?

Sonim PC tools is supported only for Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

How can I upgrade to new version of PC Tools?

Download the latest version of the PC Sync Tool software from the web site and install it. The old version will be removed and the new version is installed.

I am not able to edit files under the mobile section. The edit icon is grayed out.

You cannot edit files displayed under the mobile section but the files displayed under the PC section are editable.

I am using Windows Vista SP1 with Windows mail. I do not have MS Outlook. I am not able sync my contacts and calendar events with Windows mail.

This feature is not supported.

I am using Windows XP SP3. I do not have MS Outlook and I have Outlook Express 6.0. I am able to sync my contacts with Outlook Express but I am unable to see it on the Phonebook window in the PC.

PC Sync Tool displays only MS Outlook contents on the PC Sync skin.

I am unable to create, edit or delete contacts and calendar events in the PC section.

and install the PC Sync Tool application in Russian language, I see the English “/ ???...” strings during internet connection,?

Some English strings English “/ ???...” will always be displayed.

What will happen if I drag an existing contact from phone memory to SIM memory?

The information will be lost for home tel and work tel.

What will happen if I try to do sync operation when my PC does not have MS Outlook and Outlook Express?

PC Sync Tool will crash.
