Activity: GoliadBattle Reenactments: Goliad (October 9, 1835) and “Battle of

Coleto Creek” (March 19-20, 1836) – Every year on the weekend

closest to March 27th

ESL students have access to the “living history” inside the

Presidio.

ESL students can witness the battles, as well as observe the

roles of soldiers, women, and families and their day to day

struggles in the Texas Revolution.

Multimedia Presentation: GoliadImages with Readings: ESL students can research different battles, as well

as aspects of life during the Texas Revolution, including the life of a soldier

and the roles of women and families at that time.

Activity: The AlamoThe Alamo (February 23-March 6, 1836) – Tours are offered year

round, including a Battlefield Tour, Audio Tour, and Alamo Diorama

and Experience Tour.

Provides ESL students a new perspective on the most

recognized historical event of the Texas Revolution

Research can focus on the various figures in the struggle:

William Travis, James “Jim” Bowie, David “Davy” Crocket, and

Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna

Activity: The Battle of San Jacinto and Monument

The Battle of San Jacinto (April 21, 1836) – Monument tours are

offered year round, including the museum, battleground, and library.

Annual San Jacinto Day and Battle Reenactments are held every year

in April. ESL students can analyze cause-and-effect relationships with

regard to events that took place in the fight for Texas Independence.

ESL students can research the impact of Texas Independence and

how it has shaped the attitudes and behaviors of Texans .
