    1. Outdoor Units (ODUs)

    Introduction

A pair of ODUs (Low and High) is required per link. One ODU transmits at ahigher frequency and is called High (Hi) ODU than the other ODU is called Low(Lo) ODU and transmits in lower frequency.

To select the pair of ODUs per link, follow the steps below:

    Step Action

1 Go to Appendix B: Sub-bands Selection Tables on page 58 and findthe number of the sub-band that corresponds to your requirementsusing as selection criteria the duplex spacing, the channel size andthe preferred Tx frequencies of your in link ODUs.

2 Return to this part of the document and go to the chapter thatcorresponds to the preferred operation band.

3 In the ODUs selection table, choose the code numbers of the twoODUs (Lo and Hi) using as selection criteria the duplex spacing, thechannel size and the preferred operation sub-band of the ODUs.

The kit is used for the ODU(s) mounting in 1+0 or 2+0 links and non-integratedantennas (i.e. antenna(s) connected to ODU(s) through waveguide(s)). Thissolution should be implemented when you have an antenna with diameter equalor greater than 2,4 m (8 ft).

    Couplers and Couplers Mounting Kits

The coupler (with two ODUs mounted on it) is used when you want to ensurehot standby (asymmetrical coupler) or frequency diversity (symmetrical coupler)operation modes and you have only one antenna.

INTRACOM TELECOM can provide you with specially designed antennas(called integrated antennas with diameter up to 1,8 m or 6 ft) onto which youcan directly mount the coupler without the need of a waveguide. In case youhave a non-integrated antenna, you should get the appropriate mounting kit(see table below) in order to mount the coupler onto the mast and connect thecoupler to the antenna through a waveguide.

    Antennas, Continued

Two antenna types are available, depending on the connection between theantenna feeder and the ODU:

    - Integrated antenna, which is directly attached to the ODU.- Standard antenna, which is connected to the ODU through flex-twist

waveguide (in the case that ODU needs to be attached on the polethrough appropriate bracket).

XPD (Cross Polar Discrimination) to ensure low levels of disturbing cross-polarized signals and thus a safer reception. Typical XPD values range from30 dB for standard antennas to 40 dB for Ultra High Performance antennas.

Two code numbers are provided per antenna: The INTRACOM code number (to be used for ordering). The antenna manufacturer code number (to be used as reference for the

antenna specifications). To order integrated antennas, use ONLY theINTRACOM code number.

The variety of the encoded (non-integrated) antennas can be enrichedaccording to the customers request.

    Appendix B: Sub-bands Selection Tables

Introduction In this Appendix, the ITU transmission and reception frequencies for theINTRALINK systems are listed. In the Appendix tables, you can find the sub-bands numbers needed in the selection of ODUs code numbers in Part 1Outdoor Units (ODUs) on page 1 of this document.

To find the available operating frequencies: first, select a band from below tableto go to the corresponding page. Then, select an available channel size.

NOTEThe tables can be enriched concerning the frequencies and theduplex spacing according to customers request.

NOTEPlease inform the manufacturer of the Tx frequencies youselected for your link as further ODU settings may berequired.

In the following pages, the ITU frequencies for INTRALINK are given.

Each INTRALINK link is assigned two Tx / Rx frequency pairs, one for the side configured with Low Tx frequency (Tx Lo) andone for the side configured with High Tx frequency (Tx Hi).

Other, non-listed INTRALINK frequencies are available upon request.

To find the available operating frequencies: first, select a band from below tableto go to the corresponding page. Then, select an available channel size.
