Lacey, M.D. Interventional Radiology, (IR or VIR for Vascular and Intervention Radiology) is also known as Image-Guided Surgery or Procedural Radiology. Interventional Radiologists are medical doctors who specialize in doing medical procedures that use radiology. Interventional Radiology allows us to diagnose or treat patients with the most minimally invasive technique possible. Images are used to guide small instruments, including needles and catheters. The images provide road maps that allow the Interventional Radiologist to guide these instruments through the body to the areas of concern. Advantages of IR to Patients These procedures are generally less invasive and less • costly than surgery. With image guidance, any abnormality can be accessed • while important nearby structures such as blood vessels and vital organs can be seen and avoided. The patient is spared the pain, scarring and complications • associated with open surgery. Recovery times are usually shorter and patients can more • quickly resume normal activities. Turn right on 12th Street. 12th Street becomes Pleasant •Street. 1200 Pleasant Street is on your left.
From the East:Take I-80 West• toward Des Moines. Merge onto I-235 West via exit 137A on the left toward Des Moines.
Follow I-35S directions above starting with • Take Keo Way Exit 7.
From the South:
Take I-35 North.•
Merge onto I-235 East via Exit 72A toward West Des •Moines/Des Moines.
Take the Keo Way Exit 7B toward the Bus Terminal. •
Turn right onto Keo Way/Keosauqua Way. •
