Programming

The OIE Program Center is an active space visited by over 3,500 people each year. It is a home for Marquette international students to gather and reflect on their common MU experiences and a center for international activities on campus. Organizations such as Spanish Honor Society, Graduate Student Association, International Marquette Action Program, German Honor Society, African Student Association, Global Village, Muslim Student Association, Delta Sigma Theta, Center for Peacemaking, and Sigma Gamma ho use the center. It is also home to thriving culture and language exchange programs such as the Arabic Language and Culture Club, and the Chinese/English Language Exchanges. The Office of International Education also provides venues for international students to connect more deliberately with the Marquette and Milwaukee communities through two programs: The International Friendship Program, which matches students with local community members, providing an opportunity for regular cultural exchange and insight into a ‘typical’ Milwaukee family life; and the Peer Mentoring Program, which connects new international students with current students to help them adjust during their first semester at Marquette. Throughout the year, OIE also sponsors numerous notable campus-wide events such as two Study Abroad Fairs, International Education Week programming, International Day and more. This year, we co-sponsored or organized a variety of events:

Events 2018-2019 AY August 31: Welcome Back event at OIE (featuring Wisconsin food for students to sample) September 5: Study Abroad Fair September 21: Lunch and talk with Rangira Béa Gallimore, Ph.D., the founder and president of Step Up! and a co-founder and member of the board of the Interdisciplinary Genocide Studies Center in Rwanda (Cosponsored with MU student org Step Up!)
