What we offer

The University of Vaasa offers degree programmes on all academic levels, from Bachelor’s to Doctoral degrees. We offer education in business studies, administration, technology, languages and communication. All our Master’s programmes comprise 120 ECTS and can be completed in two years as full-time studies.

Our beautiful maritime campus near the city centre offers a modern study environment for 5 000 students. About 12 % of our students and 18 % of our staff are international.

We offer a large variety of opportunities to gain international experience for our students. The small class sizes ensure effective and interactive learning. In addition, we offer individual guidance and support throughout your studies.

Master’s Programme in Industrial Management provides students with skills to work in tasks that require high level business and technology knowledge. It prepares you to work in high-tech companies and businesses with rapidly changing core technologies, in research centres and universities.

Vaasa being the centre of growing renewable energy busi-ness in the Nordic Countries creates great opportunities for close cooperation with energy companies for the programme.

Do you want to prepare yourself for the challenges that increasingly diverse working environments present to professionals? Do you want to participate in organising processes of communication and developing new ways of thinking? Do you want to apply your expertise in managing complexities in multicultural and multilingual settings?

The Master’s Programme in Intercultural Management and Communication combines cultural and communication studies with management studies and educates professionals who will work in networked societies and who will manage diversity and communication processes in intercultural settings.

The Master’s Programme focuses on multiculturalism, communication and management. You will learn how to manage intercultural and multilingual communication, how culture and multiculturalism function and structure societies, how cultural identities are formed and how philosophical and ethical questions link with culture and multiculturalism.

You will be taught by international teachers who use innovative teaching methods which enhance community building and take into account the individuality of each learner.

The Master’s Programme in Communications and Systems Engineering offers a carefully designed education programme to integrate advanced wireless communication with modern systems topics. The aim of the programme is to educate qualified Masters of Science with a specialisation in distri- buted energy production information systems.

Wireless communication has long surpassed the goals of connecting people, and the focus has shifted to more advanced objectives, such as connecting devices. Today, we are looking toward a future of smart everything, with smart systems being applied to all areas of our everyday life: smart environment, smart grids, smart cities, smart healthcare, smart governance and smart security. At the heart of the smart world lies the Internet of Things (IoT). The philosophy of IoT is simple: everything which may benefit from being connected to the internet, should be connected.

Wireless communication is a crucial part of most distri- buted smart systems. It’s a reliable and cost-effective solution providing freedom, flexibility and mobility of devices. Smart systems combine four key elements: sensing, data processing, communication and action. The Master’s Programme in Communications and Systems Engineering curriculum encompasses the essential studies which enable the students to handle such advanced technologies.
