International Digital Communications Officer

Permanent | Full time (35 hours per week with flexible working opportunities)

Salary £20,500 to £23,000 depending on experience plus company benefits

UK Based | Remote working – Working in the Edinburgh office every 6-8 weeks

when covid-19 restrictions allow – option to work from Edinburgh or muir of

ord office if preferred

There are currently 12 Social Enterprise Academy Hubs in Australia, Canada, China, Egypt, India,

Malaysia, Pakistan, Rwanda, Scotland, South Africa, Wales and Zambia all supporting social

enterprise development in their communities.

This is an exciting new role for someone passionate about using their communication talents

for social good – supporting hub teams to make sure their websites are as effective as

possible, using your creative talents to create engaging social media content and

communicating the exciting range of work that we do to a variety of stakeholders around the

world. You’ll also be supported to develop and grow yourself, your strengths and interests, and

build strong relationships across the organisation.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

To develop and maintain an engaging and informative user experience across all SEA websites,

ensuring they are kept up to date with easily accessible content

To promote and raise awareness of the work of SEA via our social media channels

To develop multimedia content that adds value for our audiences, maximises engagement and

demonstrates our impact

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Website Management (30%)

Develop and deliver creative ideas to improve the structure, content, and design of SEA websites

Main point of contact for any new developments or technical issues with SEA websites, liaising

with developers where required

Training marketing staff in hub teams to make basic website edits

Quarterly basic site checks for functionality/broken links, whilst ensure sites are inclusive and

accessible

Gathering and analyse website analytics for KPIs to provide insights for website optimisation

Updating content responsively e.g. Hub details, new staff and facilitators, and generating web

forms on behalf of Hub teams where required

Requesting website audits from teams and being responsive to needs for larger content reviews

Social Media Management (30%)

Working closely with the Marketing Manager to develop SEA International social media and

content strategy

Day-to-day management of SEA International social media channels

Promotion of SEA International direct delivery programmes (programmes which take place in

countries where we do not have an existing SEA hub)

Gathering social media analytics for KPIs

Content Creation (30%)

Collaborating with the SEA International Network and Sustainable Business team to develop

multimedia content that adds value for our audiences, maximises engagement and demonstrates

our impact

Working with the Design and Communications Officer to create content that has high visual

impact, in line with brand guidelines

Ensure all digital content is optimised across all platforms for SEO and user experience

PR & Media (10%)

Writing press releases and undertaking press outreach to raise awareness of SEA International

direct delivery work (programmes that take place in a country where we don’t currently have a

hub team)

Organisational Management

Contribute to the development of organisational culture as a learning organisation through the Global

Learning Lab and across the International Network

Be a supportive team member and work collaboratively and positively with Hubs and other staff

Provide input in to the development and implementation of our brand, stakeholder and learner

experience

Contribute to the development of support and infrastructure required by our growing Hub and

Facilitator networks

Respond actively and efficiently to work logged by Hub teams through our job management system

Skills and Experience:

Experience of web content management systems e.g. Wordpress or Joomla

An understanding of the principles of good web design and user experience

Basic HTML coding experience (desirable)

Experience of delivering marketing and communications activities across different digital

marketing channels

Outstanding written and oral communication skills

Good eye for design and willingness to learn photo and video editing software

Experience of interpreting and translating information, ideas and concepts into engaging content

that brings them to life for a variety audiences

Understanding of emerging social media trends

Experience of writing press releases and undertaking PR outreach

Experience of Premier Pro (or other digital content development software packages) especially

for producing high quality interactive and video content (desirable)

Project Management & Relationships

Able to manage a busy workload with multiple projects and deadlines

Able to take a high quality customer service approach to your work

Experience and/or an understanding of social enterprise or international development

Cultural sensitivity and the ability to connect with and relate to other cultures

Experience of working with people from different nationalities, backgrounds and cultures

Values and attributes

A proactive and positive work ethic with strong team-working skills

Creative, enthusiastic and determined to produce high quality work

Terms & Conditions

Working hours:

Full time: 35 hours per week (with option for flexible working). Some ad-hoc flexibility

required in working hours may be required to meet the demands of international working

Annual leave entitlement is 25 days plus 10 public holidays

Salary & benefits

£20,500 - £23,000 depending on experience

Staff benefits include a company pension, an employee assistance programme and learning

and development opportunities

Place of work:

Remote Working (UK based), with option to work from Edinburgh or Muir of Ord office

If remote working, it is expected that the International Digital Communications Officer will

spend time in the Edinburgh office every 6-8 weeks for team events

Reporting:

The post will report to the SEA Marketing Manager.

You will work alongside the rest of the Global Learning Lab, Sustainable Business and

International Team, guiding and responding to SEA Hub and delivery partner needs.
