The International Cultural Festival is an action packed week of activities and events to celebrate and showcase our different cultural groups and to bring together students from home and abroad. From the various films showcasing at the International Film Festival to the Carnival and Bollywood Dance Evening, we’re confident there will be something inside this programme that makes you want to join in. We would also like to say a big thank you to all the students involved in making this happen, especially the Intercultural Ambassadors festival project team. We look forward to seeing you during the week!

Cultural showcase: Wedding ExtravagansaNo matter where in the world you are from, weddings are universal. International Cultural Festival is giving you an opportunity to witness a variety of weddings from all over the world. From a white dress and tuxedo, to the West African Dashiki, to the Indian langha and sherwani to

the Mexican mantilla veil and matadorian outfit, and many more! Expect an evening of colourful fashion vibrant dances and diverse music from all around the world.Friday 10th February, From 7.30pm, Riley Smith Hall.

To Be, PalestineHosted by the Palestine Solidarity Group‘To Be’ explores the suffering of Palestinians under the Israeli and international siege on Gaza. The film looks at international activist work in Gaza and provides deep testimony to the urgent and overdue need to end an immoral siege on an imprisoned population. 5.30pm to 7.15pm, Meeting Room 5.

Laskar Pelangi (The Rainbow Troops), Indonesia Hosted by the Indonesian SocietyThis award winning film follows a group of schoolboys and their two inspirational teachers in a farming and tin mining community in Belitung. Women Without Men, Iran Hosted by the Feminist SocietyThis exquisitely crafted 1953 Iranian film weaves together the stories of four women after a British and American backed coup removes the democratically elected government. The First Grader, KenyaHosted by the East African Society In the remote Kenyan bush, children are jostling for a chance

The Adventists, USAHosted by the Seventh Day Adventist SocietyThis film shows how the Adventist movement formed and the key characteristics of the faith, including a passion for healthy living. The Kingdom of Solomon, IranHosted by the Ahlul Bayt SocietyThe film tells the life story of

Prophet Solomon, the King of Israelites.
