• Irrigation systems• Dams• Roads, Railroads, Man-Made systems of

transportation• Ditches• Buildings• Levees




Consequences of Modification

Positive• Survival to natural disasters• Life is more comfortable

and easy• Transportation easier• Economies

Negative• Pollution• Extinction and

endangerment of animals• Overcrowding• Erosion




Adaptation• People have had to adapt to

their environment too.• Clothing, jobs, housing, food




What kind of areas do people live in?

• Rural – People live further apart; Agricultural areas• Urban – People live close together; Industrial areas• Suburban – outside a large urban area; neighborhoods
