Click to edit Master title style My story
I saw a problem:
Projects routinely go to hell.
I had a solution:
Hell could certainly be avoided.
I believed that:
Owners would pay for that certainty.

My personal introduction….
“You know how construction projects always
seem to go to hell? ….late? ….over budget?
Well ours don’t.

It is what your followers want
It will increase your influence and make you
more effective
It costs nothing
It is easy
It will make your role more enjoyable
Intentionally.

Leadership vs
Management

A person who knows how
will always have a job
A person who knows why
will always be their boss

Leaders ask why?,
to compare the merits
of the how and the what
Managers ask how? and what?,
having been told why

Speak one sentence to that
one person - and only then
move on to someone else

Keep your hands up above
waist level
Use your hands to animate
your words: emphasize,
describe and enhance
Keep your hands out of your
pockets, or otherwise
moving unnecessarily
Hands

Balance your stance
Walk only when you
have to, not when you
want to
If necessary, lean on
something to keep
yourself still

You need to engage
You need to make an impression
You need to inform
What are you going to say?
