Instructions for IPS Training through CITI Program

Below are screenshots assisting with registering for the CITI Information Privacy Security Program. Please set aside approximately 45-60 minutes to complete 6 modules. Once complete, please save a copy of the Completion Report, as you will be asked to upload this to the orientation site.

To begin, please go to https://www.citiprogram.org/. Then click on “Register”, as seen below.

Type in Indiana St, Select Indiana State University, Click I agree to the Terms of Service and click on Continue to Step 2.

Fill in all of the required fields and Continue to Step 3.

Fill in all of the required fields and Continue to Step 4.

Please type in Country of Residence, instructions below, and Continue to Step 5.

Step 5: Please answer the following question: Are you interested in the option of receiving Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit for completed CITI Program courses? Please answer this question as to what will suit your needs best. The general answer for students is No. Please also select the appropriate answer regarding participation in surveys.

Step 6: Please provide the following information as requested by Indiana State University: Please complete required areas, as marked with an “*” A question asks: What is your role in research? Please answer with Student Researcher – Graduate level. You may place your personal phone number as the Office phone.

Step 7: Only Question 8 needs to be answered during this step. Please scroll down to the bottom of the page to Question 8: Information Privacy Security and click on IPS for Students. You then will Complete Registration.

Before you begin your training, you want to click Finalize registration, as shown below.

Once opened, you can click on IPS for Students and it will show you the modules available in the course.

Prior to beginning your first module, you want to Complete the Integrity Assurance Statement, as shown in the red box below.

Please read the Assurance Statement and click on the I AGREE box for the Terms of Service, then click Submit.

For this training, you must complete all 5 of the Required Modules (Basics of Health Privacy, Health Privacy Issues for Clinicians, Health Privacy Issues for Students and Instructors, and Basics of Information Security Parts 1 and 2) and take the quizzes for each module by clicking on the link at the bottom of each module. In addition after completing the first 5 modules, you are also required to complete Safer Social Networking under the Supplemental Modules.

Once all 6 modules are complete and you have reached the minimum passing score, please save a copy of your Completion Report. There are 2 ways to obtain your Completion Report, as shown below. You will be asked to upload this Completion Report in PDF format to the Medatrax site.
