WelcomeYeats Library is here to guide and support you through your research experience whether you are studying at undergraduate or postgraduate level, on campus or via online learning. We are here to help.

Student ID Card = Library CardYour IT Sligo Student ID Card can be collected from the Library. This is also your library card and is needed to borrow books and access self-service library facilities.

Online Learning students who are not attending class on campus can upload a photo to the student portal before getting their ID Card. Details on how to do this are available at library.itsligo.ie or email [email protected].

Accessing Online Library ResourcesResources on the Library website are available 24/7. To access these off campus you will need your IT Sligo username and password.

Social Learning ZoneLOCATION: Lower Ground Floor (lower level) ACTIVITY: Group Work Open plan study area (books must be borrowed on your account before entering this area) | IT Services Helpdesk | Printer | Special Collections Exhibition Space | 5 Study Rooms

Computers & RoomsSeveral computers in the library can be booked in advance for limited time periods. More details are available at library.itsligo.ie.

There are 13 study rooms available for group and presentation work within the Library, some with multimedia screens. These rooms can be booked using the Room Booking system on the Library website.

Respect Your Study SpaceYeats Library can be a busy place as it is used by both students and staff of the Institute. Please respect other library users and the facilities provided. Searching for Information for Your AssignmentsThe following services are available at library.itsligo.ie to help you find relevant information for your assignments:

EOLAS: search print and online library resources including full text ebooks and articles

DATABASES: search for a particular database or choose one from the list

PUBLICATION FINDER: search for a specific title or browse by discipline for full text publications including journals

RESEARCH@THEA search the entire collections of research output from all of the Institutes of Technology via this open access repository

Locating Books in the LibraryBooks are shelved in numerical order according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System. This system allocates a number between 000-999 (known as the call number) to each subject area. Art books, for example, are shelved together in the 700s while Science books are shelved in the 500s section. Each individual book will have a call number displayed on its spine and will be shelved in numerical order. Search the Library catalogue at library.itsligo.ie to find the call numbers for your chosen subjects.




Borrowing Books & Library AccountYou will need your student ID card to borrow books from the Library.

Book renewals, Library notices and Quick Check PIN can all be managed from your online Library Account on the library website (use IT Sligo username and password)

Online Learners can request books to be posted to them from the Library Main Lending Collection by emailing [email protected].

Interlending & Document SupplyIf you cannot access the book or article you require through Yeats Library resources then it may be requested for you from another library using our Interlending & Document Supply service.

Yeats Library on MoodleThe Yeats Library Moodle Page has links to guides offering handy tips on topics such as academic writing, time management, poster presentations, critical thinking and lots more!


Using Other Academic LibrariesWhen visiting other academic libraries you must bring your IT Sligo student card with you. Check in advance the procedures in place for external users of the library you wish to visit and the opening times. You can request a Letter of Introduction from Yeats Library which will allow you to use other academic libraries for reference purposes.

Borrowing from other IT LibrariesA reciprocal borrowing agreement is in place between IT Sligo and the Institutes listed below allowing students from IT Sligo to borrow two items for one week from:

Ƚ Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT)

Ƚ Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT)

WIFI Access Using EduroamThe Eduroam service provides internet access for all students and staff of Higher Education Institutions not only in their registered Institute but also when visiting other academic institutions. This means that you can use the WiFi facilities of another educational institution near you.

Once you authenticate your IT Sligo Login details with the visiting network it will verify you as a registered student of IT Sligo and allow access.
