Note: The hardware requirements indicated by the operating systemmanufacturers must be considered. Hardware combinations thataccording to manufacturers specification cause malfunctionsmay also have an effect on the operation of EPLAN Cabinet.Therefore an accurate basic installation of hardware, operatingsystem and hardware drivers (e.g., graphics board driver etc.) isessential for a smooth operation of EPLAN Cabinet. EPLAN Cabinet - Installation Informations

Installation type "Customized"

Note:

When installing EPLAN Cabinet 2.0, a 'Customized' type setup can be

performed. By this, the standard installation directory may be replaced

by a user-defined directory name. If you use this option, do not enter

any unicode characters (especially cyrillic or chinese characters), but

latin characters only! Otherwise, EPLAN Cabinet 2.0 cannot be started.

User rights in the start directory

Before starting EPLAN Cabinet, a user with normal user rights must be given fullaccess to the start directory "LS01E" by the computer's administrator.

Starting the Program

Windows start menu - "Programs" - "EPLAN" - "Eplan Cabinet" - "EPLANCabinet

Central Parts Management

Start Central Parts Management from outside EPLAN Cabinet, in theWindows start menu under "Programs" - "EPLAN" - "EPLAN CPM".

Setting Logical Drives

For access to the project drives, create a so-called logical drive in EPLAN

Cabinet.

In the menu bar, select EXTRAS - CONFIGURATION

Then select [Logical drives].

Click [Insert].

You can now define a drive letter and then map the project directory.

For EPLAN5 Projects, we recommend:

You should also select a logical drive for the directory in which you wish tocreate and edit your EPLAN Cabinet-Projects.

Next, select Permanent. This permanently saves the logical drives, whichare available after EPLAN Cabinet is restarted.

Click Install.

Click OK.

Customizing Path Variable for EPLAN21 Link

If a link is made to EPLAN21, you will need to customize the PATH

variables accordingly.

In Windows - Control Panel, select System and then Advanced.

Select Environment Variables.

In the following dialog, select New under User Variables. If the PATHvariable already exists, modify its value by selecting "Edit".

If not already created, create the variable PATH in the User Variablesection. As the value, enter the system path of your EPLAN21 installation.

Click OK.

Setting Database for Central Parts Management

To ensure continuous data consistency, you should always access the

same parts database from EPLAN Cabinet, EPLAN Electric P8 and theEPLAN CPM Central Parts Management.

Once installed, EPLAN Cabinet uses the ESS_part001.mdb inC:\Programme\EPLAN\Cabinet\LS01E\DATABASE. If you wish always toaccess the same database, then place this database in this directory inEPLAN Electric P8 and EPLAN CPM.

If you wish to use a different database in EPLAN Cabinet, e.g. the databasethat was installed with EPLAN CPM, then select Tools ParameterManager. In the dialog, select the EPLAN tab. Under Data Central PartsManagement, you can select a different parts database.

New parts database

2.0 will install a new Central Parts Management databaseESS_part001.mdb in the directory

C:\Programme\EPLAN\Cabinet20\Cabinet\DATABASE

If you wish to use new data from this parts database, use the Extras -Import function in the Central Parts Management. See the program's online

help for usage instructions.

EPLAN Parts Update

EPLAN5 and EPLAN21 users made modifications and supplementations of

parts data within these programs up to now. EPLAN Cabinet now gives youthe option to use the EPLAN CPM Central Parts Management. To enabledata modifications from the CPM to be updated in the parts databases ofEPLAN5 and EPLAN21, you can select 2 directories that contain the EPLANparts data.

The update itself will be performed from the CPU.

Setting Parts Update

In EPLAN Cabinet, select Tools - Parameter Manager.

In the dialog, select the EPLAN tab.

Under "EPLAN Parts Update", you can select the parts data directoryfor EPLAN5 and the parts database for EPLAN21.
