Author Bio Laurent Gomez is a senior researcher at SAP Research France since 2001. He is currently involved in a european research project WASP. His research activities are focused on security and trust management of Wireless Sensor Networks. Prior to joining SAP Research, Laurent Gomez worked as engineer at research projects for Ericsson. He has a strong background in security of mobile applications, with a focus on context-aware and WSN systems. Laurent holds a Engineer Degree in Computing Systems from ESSI (Ecole Superieure en Sciences Informatique), Nice France. He is also proudly contributing to French Fried News blog.

Introduction The goal of this article is to support users for the installation and configuration of SAP Netweaver Composition Environment 7.1. Largely illustrated with screenshots, those installation and configuration guidelines target beginner guys to SAP Netweaver. Section Error! Reference source not found. addresses installation of SAP Netweaver Composition Environment and Developer Studio. In section 0, we target configuration of the environment and license acquisition for a trial version.

Installation Guidelines

Requirements A 2GB RAM and 2 GHz computer is recommended.

Java JDK 5.0.12 You first have to install java JDK 5.0.12. It is available here: http://java.sun.com./javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp

SAP Netweaver Composition Environment 7.1

Download You have to install the SAP Netweaver Composition Environment 7.1. Go to the SDN portal (http://sdn.sap.com/sdn/netweaver), and find the link to the trial version for SAP Netweaver CE 7.1 SR1, as depicted in Figure 1.

You then click on “Click here for download”, as depicted in Figure 2.

In order to download the Composition Environment, you have to check Composition Environment as depicted in Figure 3.

The download should take a while, so you can download the Developer Studio at the same time, as depicted in Figure 4.

SAP Netweaver CE 7.1 Installation

• Once Composition Environment has been downloaded, unzip the file SAPNWCE71TrialSP1Preview_CompEnvServer.rar file to the root folder (e.g. c:\, d:\).

• Run C:\SAPNWCE71TrialSP1Preview_CompEnvServer\CompEnvServer\ntintel\setup.exe

• You have to follow the next screenshots.

• Once the download of Developer Studio is done, unzip SAPNWCE71TrialSP1Preview_DevStudio.rar under root directory (e.g. c:\, d:\).

• Right click on the CE1Instance and run as shown in Figure 14.

• Starting the SAP Netweaver CE takes about 30 minutes. It's due to consuming initialization tasks on the engine. Nevertheless, the next startups are to be much faster, normally approx. 10 minutes.

• In order to check that the server is up and running, go to http://localhost:50100/index.html (by default the username/password are Administrator/<your master password>).

• Go to System Information and check the message server port and host, as depicted in Figure 17.
