1. Installation Sequence

Only Administrator group privilege level users are authorized to configure the following settings,

Step 1: Phone and Modem Options Setting

Step 2: Network and Dial-up Connection Setting

2. Phone and Modem Options Setting

(1) Click Start| Settings| Control Panel.

(2) Click the Phone and Modem Optionsicon in the Control Panel window to startconfiguring the modem. Select the Modem tab, and click [Add]to continue with adding thenew modem for the PNMT.

(3) Check Dont detect my modem... and click [Next]to continue.

(4) Select Standard Modem Typesfrom the list of Manufacturersand Standard 19200bpsModemfrom the Models. Click [Next]to continue.

(5) Select Selected portsand COM1, then click [Next]to continue. If you are using amulti-port configuration, select All portsto install the standard 19200 bps modem driverfor all available COM ports.

(6) Click [Finish]to complete the new modem installation.

(7) Verify that Standard 19200 bps Modemand COM1are displayed. Click [OK].

3. Installation of USB Com Port Driver (USB Connection)

This section describes the installation of a USB Modem Driver (for PASOLINK-NEO networkelements) as the dial-up connection.

Connect the PNMT computer to the LCT Port of the NE with a standard USB cable.

(1) Click [Next] to continue.

(2) Select Search for a suitable driver for my device [recommended]and click [Next] tocontinue.

(3) Insert the USB driver CD-ROM in the computers disk drive and check CD-ROM drivesthen,click [Next].

(4) Click [Yes]in the Hardware Installation pop-up alert, and then USB Modem DriverInstallation starts.

(5) USB Com Port Driver installation is complete. Click [Finish].

4. Dial-up Setting

(1) Click Start | Settings | Control Panel, and then in the Control Panel window, click theNetwork and Dial-up Connectionsicon to start configuring the Dial-up Setting.

(2) The Network and Dial-up Connectionswindow will appear. Click Make NewConnection..

(4) Select Dial-up to private networkand click [Next]to continue.

(5) Select Modem-Choose a connected port, and click [Next]to continue.

NOTE

This screen appears only when a USB Modem Driver has been

installed.

In case of connecting with RS232C-Check Modem-Standard 19200 bps Modem[COM1].

In case of connecting with USB-Check Modem-USB Modem Driver[COM3].

(6) Enter any desired number in the Phone numberfield. Click [Next] to continue.

(7) Verify that For all usersis checked. Click [Next] to continue.

(8) In the Network Connection Wizard window,input connection name into Editbox.

Click [Finish].

In case of connecting with RS232C-Type [PNMT(RS232C)]

In case of connecting with USB-Type [PNMT(USB)]

(9) Click [Cancel]in the Connect PNMTdial-up connection window to continue. Next clickPropertieswindow.

(10) In the Propertieswindow, click on the Generaltab .Click Configure to proceed.

(11) In theModem Configurationwindow, uncheck all boxes in the Hardware features andInitialization fields.


(12) Retain the default setting displayed on the Optiontab, and click the Securitytab.

(13) Retain the default setting displayed on the Securitytab and click the Networkingtab.


(14) Verify that PPP:is displayed in the Type of dial-up server I am callingfield, and that Fileand Printer...and Client for Microsoft... are unchecked on the Networking tab.

(15) Click Settings. Uncheck all boxes so that the window will look exactly as shown below.Click [OK]to go back to the previous window. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) andthen clickProperties.

(16) Verify that both Obtain an IP address automaticallyand Obtain DNS server addressautomatically are selected.

(17) In the Advanced TCP/IP Settingswindow, uncheck Use IP header compressionin thePPP link field on the Generaltab. Click [OK].

5. SNMP Service Setting

NOTE

It is necessary to remove SNMP Service or to stop it if it has

already been installed.

To Remove SNMP Service:

(1) Select Start Setting Control Panel, then in the Add/Remove Programswindow,click Add/Remove Windows Components.

(2) The Windows Components Wizardwindow appears. Remove the check fromManagement and Monitoring Toolsand click Details...

(3) The Management and Monitoring Toolswindow appears. Confirm that Simple NetworkManagement Protocolis not checked and click [OK]. Return to above window and click[Next].

(4) Click [Finish]to complete the removal of SNMP Service.

To Stop SNMP Service:

(5) To stop SNMP Service without removing it, click Administrative Toolsin the ControlPanelwindow.

(6) Click Services in the Administrative Toolswindow.

(7) Confirm that SNMP Service is installed and that it has started automatically. Select ActionPropertieson the menu bar of the Serviceswindow, or right-click SNMP Serviceandthen click Propertiesin the SNMP Servicemenu.

(8) Select Manualin the Startup typefield and click Stopin the Service statusfield on theGeneraltab. Click [OK]or [Apply].

(9) Confirm that the Status of both SNMP Service and SNMP Trap Service is stopped, and thatthe Startup condition for each one is Manual.

(10) Restart the computer.

6. PNMT Setup

NOTE

If PNMT software has already been installed, please uninstall

it before you install a new version.

(1) Insert the PNMT Installation CDROM. Open the CDROM folder and double-clickinstall.exe.

(2) The following window appears until loading is completed.

(3) Introduction window appears. Click [Next]

(4) Specify the directory where the PNMT is to be installed. Click [Next].

Restore Default Folder:Click this button to revert to default folder

Choose:Click this button to select another directory

NOTE

The default path is C:\PNMTj. It is not possible to include

blank spaces as in Program Files. (Cdenotes thedirectory where the currently running OS is installed)

(5) Specify the License Key file if one is available. Click [Next].

Restore Default Folder:Click this button to revert to default folder

Choose:Click this button to choose the license key folder

NOTE

If no License Key file is available, operation in the Trial

mode is possible.

IMPORTANT: IMMEDIATE IMPORT OF LICENSE

You may use the PNMT on a trial basis for 30 days. Afterthat the PNMT can ONLY be used IF the license has been

imported (activated). To obtain the license please contactNEC.

(6) Click [Install].

(7) During installation, this window appears.

7. Launching PNMT

(1) Click Start | Programs | PNMTj | PNMTto start the application.

(2) Enter User nameand Passwordand select ConnectionEntry:

After installation of PNMT, the initial / default password will be:-.

User name: adminPassword: (There is no initial password . Just press Enter.

A password can then be set.)Connection

If another application is using the SNMP Port, applicationinitialization will not be possible; the application will shutdown, and the following message will appear.
