Pre-Installation Setup

To get the best performance while working with Creo Elements/Pro you have to dosome pre-settings in the workstation operating system.

File System

The Creo Elements/Pro installation directory, the starting directory, the workingdirectory, and the directories in which Creo Elements/Pro data are stored must beNTFS formatted.

To check this Open the Explorer, Select the D Drive > Property.

If it is not partitioned as NTFS, follow the steps to convert a volume to NTFS fromthe command prompt

Open Command Prompt. In the command prompt window, type convert drive_letter: /fs:ntfsFor example, typing convert D: /fs:ntfswould format drive D: with the NTFS format.

It will prompt you to restart for the file system conversion.

Notes

To open command prompt, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories,and then click Command Prompt.

You must specify that the drive should be converted when the computer isrestarted. Otherwise, you cannot convert the current drive.

If convert cannot lock the drive (for example, the system volume or the currentdrive), it offers to convert the drive the next time the computer restarts.

Virtual Memory Paging File

While working with Large Assembly and drawings, Creo Elements/Pro will requiremore memory. Therefore, you have to set the proper virtual memory size for betterperformance.

Right Click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Performance Settings >

Disable Windows Firewall

To access the License From the License server, you have to disable the WindowsFore wall. The steps are as follows,

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel> Windows Firewall

Off the Windows Firewall > OK

Installing and Starting Creo Elements/Pro

Create the following Directories in the Local machine.D:\Users

D:\Ptc

Insert the product software DVD (Creo Elements/Pro 5.0, Data code isM070) on your Windows operating system. The PTC Setup main window opens(If it is not opening, Double click the setup.exe from the DVD Drive).

Start the PTC.Setup utility. The following screen appears.

Click Next. The Accept License Agreement screen appears

Click Creo Elements/Pro & Creo Elements/Pro Mechanica.

The Define Installation Components screen appears Installation Directory:Change the default installation directory as D:\Ptc\Creo

Elements\Pro5.0. PTC Setup creates the specified new directory. Select all theComponents and the Sub Components also if you want /pick theproduct feature

and select Install all sub-feature. Click nextafter you have selected yourcomponents. It will ask you to create the directory, accept it.

In the Select units screen, selectMetricunits of measure for your productinstallation:

Specify License Serversdialog box opens. Add your License Server name(---------). Click Next.

TheWindows Preferences dialog box opens. Select the Program folder shortcutand set the startup directory to D:\Users. Set the windows environmentpreference to all users. Click Next.

Select the Optional Utilities & Optional Configuration as shown in the belowfigure. Click Next.

The License Configurations dialog box opens. Click Editin the LicenseConfigureCommands dialog box. The Command Configurationdialog boxopens. Add the Startup command (proeCreo) and edit the licenses Options asshown in the image. Click next.

Click next in the Mechanica License Option.

Specify the Creo Element/View Express install Location as D:\Ptc\PVX& ClickInstall.
