we have concluded the middle of this year with joy and gratitude to the Lord for still providing for us an opportunity to serve the
rural children of Indonesia.In July we took the theme "Chil-dren's Day" which coincides with National Children's Day on July 23rd. As a report form, we will briefly describe the activities we have done over the past June. Early June 2018, Mrs. Henny vis-ited Timor NTT Island to attend the inauguration of Gentari Ele-mentary School Home. The ones also present were Mr. Kuswandi and Ibu Suprati as the donors of this Learning House develop-ment.In mid-June, Kindergarten and Early Age School held a gradu-ation ceremony. Some centers such as Taehue center in NTT and FLC Sidas in West Kaliman-tan children have graduated 78 children for the School year of

untuk menghadiri peresmian
Rumah Belajar SD Gentari.
Hadir juga Bapak Kuswandi dan Ibu Suprati sebagai donatur pembangunan Rumah Belajar
ini. Pada pertengahan Juni, TK dan PAUD Tangan Pengharapan
mengadakan acara wisuda. Beberapa center seperti center Taehue di NTT dan FLC Sidas
di Kalimantan Barat telah
meluluskan 78 anak untuk tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Kegiatan Mobile Clinic sebagai program rutin dalam bidang kesehatan sudah berjalan selama bulan
Juni. Kegiatan ini menjangkau 507 orang pasien, Mobile Clinic memfokuskan kegiatan pelayanan kesehatan di daerah
pelosok Pulau Timor. Pada bulan

IN Hari Anak Nasional pertama kali diperingati pada tahun 1984 dengan gagasan ingin melihat anak-anak sebagai aset kemajuan bangsa yang bergembira bermain dan ceria. Sebagai aset kemajuan bangsa, tentu saja pendidikan menjadi sesuatu yang
penting untuk didapatkan oleh anak-anak. Dukungan dari sisi pendidikan sudah memberikan kesempatan
kepada mereka untuk memiliki masa
depan yang baik. Menurut data Badan Pusat Statistik tahun 2015, jumlah anak pedesaan yang tidak lagi sekolah sekitar 225.000 jiwa atau sekitar 90% dari seluruh anak pedesaan. Alasan anak-anak tidak ke sekolah karena mereka tidak memiliki biaya dan harus bekerja membantu ekonomi keluarga mereka. Hal ini banyak juga terjadi di pedalaman wilayah Indonesia Timur,

IN “Kita semua tahu bahwa pendidikan anak usia dini
itu penting, karena di usia inilah anak membentuk pendidikan yang paling bagus. Di usia emas, 0-5 tahun anak-anak harus membentuk kesiapan dirinya menghadapi masa sekolah dan masa depan. Investasi terbaik yang bisa diberikan untuk anak-anak adalah persiapan pendidikan mereka di usia
dini,” terang Byrnes, seorang pengamat PAUD Indonesia dari Australia (paud.kemdikbud.go.id, 2016). Tangan Pengharapan memahami urgensi hal ini, itulah sebabnya Tangan Pengharapan mendirikan PAUD
di daerah-daerah pedalaman di Indonesia. Terdapat 15 PAUD Tangan Pengharapan
yang tersebar di beberapa
pulau di Indonesia. Setiap akhir tahun ajaran, PAUD Yayasan Tangan Pengharapan meluluskan
anak-anak yang sudah dididik selama kurang lebih selama 2 tahun. Bulan Juni lalu, 7 anak

At the end of each academic year, several children graduate from these Kindergartens after having attended preschool for a little over two years. Last June, 7 students from Kampet, 10 students from Sidas, 10 students from PA Bulu in West
Kalimantan, 21 students from
North Halmahera as well as 30 students from South Central
Timor, NTT graduated from Kindergarten. The graduation ceremony was attended by the proud parents of the graduating students. A total number of 78 students are all set to face the next phase of their lives.

Pengharapan is to help every
individual discover his/her potential by providing practical solutions to help reduce poverty. The Life Skill Training Center (LTC) in Kupang, NTT, is part of the realization of the mission Tangan Pengharapan
has for Indonesia. The Life Skill Training Center not only
serves as a training center (including: agriculture, water harvesting, poultry and aqua farming) for the community, but is also utilized as a tourism farm where everyone is
welcome to come and learn about the simple technologies that exists, as well as have the opportunity to take pictures and buy garden products at a very affordable price. Since it’s inauguration in November 2016, many visitors, both local as well as people from outside
the area of Kupang have visited
the center. In addition to taking some pictures, visitors also conducted discussions with the training team regarding the
application of agricultural plant development such as chillies, tomatoes, melons, green onion
stalks as well as some other
plants. A sense of enthusiasm and cooperation offers were submitted by many visitors. They desire is to be able to
harvest from their own farms
that exists on barren and arid
land.

IN Provinsi Papua, provinsi terbesar di Indonesia termasuk
wilayah Indonesia yang nyaris
tidak tersentuh pendidikan. Awal Juni lalu, staff Yayasan Tangan Pengharapan di Papua, Wensi Pongkorung melakukan survei
ke Pulau Yapen, Papua untuk melihat kondisi pendidikan dan
taraf hidup masyarakat disana. Seperti wilayah pedalaman Papua kebanyakan, masyarakat pulau ini bermatapencaharian sebagai petani atau nelayan. Dua desa yang disurvei memiliki
kondisi pendidikan yang
memprihatinkan.Desa Kaonda dapat diakses
menggunakan perahu motor
selama 3 jam dari Kota Biak dan 12 jam dari Kota Serui. Desa ini memiliki sekitar 97 kepala keluarga. Sebanyak 130 anak Desa Kaonda harus putus
sekolah karena sekolah mereka,

kemudian pindah ke kota. Hal ini berlangsung sejak 3 tahun lalu. Gedung sekolah yang sudah lama tidak digunakan dan dirawat akhirnya rusak. Masyarakat di kedua desa ini
sangat berharap anak-anak mereka dapat bersekolah
kembali. 240 anak ini masih berhak mendapatkan
pendidikan yang layak.

EN A Papua, the largest province in Indonesia, is an area that is almost untouched by education. In early June, Wensi Pongkorung, a staff of Tangan Pengharapan
based in Papua, conducted a survey of Kaonda and Karawi
villages in Yapen, Papua, to observe the education and living standards of the people
there. Like most of the interior regions of Papua, fishing and farming are the main sources of livelihood of the island’s
communities. During the visit it was observed, that education conditions in these two villages were of grave concern.
Kaonda village can be accessed by motorboat. ( a 3 hours ride from the town of Biak
and 12 hours from Serui City). The village consists of approximately 97 families. As many as 130 children of Kaonda Village were forced to discontinue schooling because their school, YPK Elementary School of Kaonda has not been operational for the past 5 years.The fate of the people of
Karawi Village located in the

middle of Yapen Island, Windesi District is no different from that of Kaonda Village. It consists of approximately 150-200 families. Since the past three years, 110 children have been unable to attend school because their teachers have migrated to other towns due to non payment of
salaries. The school buildings have been abandoned and left in ruins. 240 children are still eligible for a proper school education. Communities in these two villages dream of seeing their
children return to school.

IN Bulan Juni lalu, Tim Mobile Clinic Tangan Pengharapan mengadakan kunjungan ke
6 desa di Kabupaten Timor Tengah Utara, NTT. Desa-desa tersebut adalah Desa Oenbit, Desa Oabikase, Desa Humusu Sainiup, Desa Fafinesu, Desa Tliu dan desa Fatumtasa. Ketiadaan fasilitas kesehatan di masing-masing desa merupakan salah satu alasan
kunjungan ke enam desa ini. Sebanyak 507 total pasien datang berkonsultasi dan
berobat secara gratis di masing-masing desa. Berdasarkan penyakit yang diderita oleh

di dahi, Melan berkata pada gurunya, “Pak, ayo kita les komputer.” Guru Melan lantas menyuruhnya pulang ke rumah
terlebih dahulu dan makan
siang. “Saya sudah makan Pak, tadi saya bawa bekal. Kita sudah bisa belajar komputer
belum Pak?” sambung Melan sambil tersenyum lebar. Bagi siswa daerah pedalaman, belajar komputer adalah
sebuah hal baru yang membuat
mereka sangat penasaran. Daerah pedalaman yang belum
terjamah oleh teknologi dan
informasi ini masih ada di Pulau
Jawa. Meylani Larasati atau sering disapa Melan tinggal di pedalaman Dusun Kedung
Udal, Desa Padas, Jawa Tengah. Dia termasuk anak yang paling
tertarik belajar komputer.Saat ini Melan duduk di kelas
VIII SMP di Kedung Udal. Pelajaran komputer yang
diterimanya di sekolah hanya
sebatas teori saja tanpa ada
praktik, hal ini dikarenakan keterbatasan fasilitas komputer

eat her lunch first. "I have eaten my lunch Sir. I carried some packed lunch” said Melan. Now can we begin our lesson in computers, Sir?" asked Melan with a charming smile. For students living in the
hinterland, learning computers is something out of this world
and it has aroused their
curiosity to a great extent. There are many areas on
the island of Java that are
untouched by technology. Meylani Larasati or Melan as
she is often called, lives in the interiors of one such village in Kedung Udal Padas, Central Java. She is among one of the most interested students in
learning computers.Melan is currently studying at grade VIII, Junior High School level in Kedung Udal. The Computer lessons that

The ceremony was attended by the children and teachers of the Feeding and Learning Center at SD Gentari, the village community, the prin-cipal, and representatives of the village head. Mrs. Henny Kris-tianus and entourage were greet-ed with a traditional reception, songs and dance. The students of SD Gentari elementary school ex-pressed their gratitude through

digunakan. Selain meresmikan rumah belajar, Ibu Henny juga membagikan makanan bergizi, donasi berupa kaos dan susu
kepada anak-anak. Satu langkah menuju pendidikan SD Gentari yang lebih baik, satu langkah menuju generasi masa depan
yang lebih baik.

EN Since the past 6 years, Alpon Sukandi has devoted himself
to serving people living in the
interiors of Indonesia along with
Tangan Pengarapan. Alpon him-self is familiar with the services provided by Tangan Pengharapan
as his foster parents too worked
with the foundation in 2008. When Alpon decided to join the service, he was entrusted the job of a teacher and coordinator of the Feeding and Learning Center
in Oenif Village, Kec. Nekamese, Kab. Kupang, NTT. During his service at FLC Oenif,
Alpon not only acted as a teach-er in the classroom, he saw the root of the problems faced by the community, and the reasons they were entangled in poverty. He tried to think of practical solutions for the people there. He was struck by the idea of providing training in Holticulture farming, poultary farming and catfish farming. With hands-on experience and knowledge gained through reading books
and articles, Alpon managed to provide some practical tips to farmers. Upon seeing this

melayani masyarakat dan 8 orang anak-anak unggul dari beberapa daerah di Indonesia
yang diasuh di CRH. Rasa syukur itu ditunjukkan dengan selalu
melakukan tanggung jawabnya
