Inspirational FilmsIn order that we know exactly what we want to

do in our title sequence, Nicole and I have been conducting research on successful

thrillers with themes similar to our idea. So we listed different films and began to watch,

hoping inspiration would strike…

This film is not included in the thriller genre, however, it still contributed a lot to our film, and set the ball rolling for more ideas.

The Parent Trap is set, for a large part of the film, on a girls-only camp in the woods. With the camping idea playing on my mind already, we let Camp Walden inspire the props we planned on using and the way in which we’d set up our location to create the optimum atmosphere; campfires and tents would be essential.

To summarise the plot of this film shortly; a teacher is dismissed for paedophilic behaviour, following which he begins to rape, slash and subsequently eat children. Only after killing 55 people, of which a considerable amount are women and children, is he caught and executed.

Much of our inspiration came from this film, and whilst we acknowledge that producing the title sequence to a similar film is utterly unrealistic, we took the idea of ‘paedophilia,’ adapting it to our film.

ObsessedOf all the films we watched, Obsessed, a relatively new film, encapsulates and therefore inspires our theme of ‘trust’ best.

In this film, a manager is stalked by his new temporary co-worker, who, though she appears to be an ordinary employee, she is actually a psychopath. As the two work side-by-side, the manager should have been able to trust their colleague; we trust the people we are close to and spend significant amounts of time with. Thus this idea called out to us, as everyone wishes to distance themselves from evil, but sometimes it closer than we realise until it is all but too late, this idea is truly terrifying and, in our opinion, a great one to base a thriller on!

So what next?With these inspiring films, and others, in mind, we will start storyboarding our title sequence,

and then, let the filming begin…
