In March I started writing a daily blog, the Corona Crucible that ex-plores our personal and collective responses to the COVID-19 pan-demic that is swiftly remodelling our world. I post daily and it in-cludes links to reputable news sources.

It was timely that last year I wrote about Pluto in Aquarius (2023-44) for

the AstroVision EBook and how this coming epoch of Aquarian influences

will totally alter our way of life. I had no idea that it would be a global pan-

demic that would be the catalyst for these changes. But here we are. I will

PERSONAL AND COLLECTIVE RESPONSES TO THIS TRANSFORMATIVE COVID-19

PANDEMIC.

This Sagittarius Full Moon tightly squares Mars. The Mars synod is the longest of all planetary cycles, and hence its hard aspects to the Sun are personally challeng-ing.

We can compare the Mars synodic cycle and Sun-Mars aspects to the Hero’s journey which mirrors life’s experiences.

The waxing square to the Sun is a threshold crossing. This is a boundary between two worlds, the known, safe and familiar world, and the unknown world where the hero must venture. A realm of new experiences and challenges lie ahead that will test us and provide opportunities for growth.

In the hero’s journey this threshold crossing often coincides with an external event that we have to

confront. In some cases we may have sensed it already and have been avoiding it, but must now we are in a position where we have to confront it head on. Collectively, the unknown realm that we are facing at present, is the next part of our journey through this COVID-19 pandemic.

How brave are we in taking a step into the unknown as restrictions are eased? There is also the chal-lenge of vaccine trials. There is a lot we don’t know about this virus, but testing vaccines and treat-ments also involves taking risks.

Over recent months in earlier parts of our heroic journey, Mars-Sun aspects have provided the wise advice and guidance from men-tors. We should all heed their ad-vice as we take this step and face the challenges ahead.

This New Moon is a solar eclipse and it’s happening at the gateway to Cancer, just hours after the Sol-stice. This is a critical time for reor-dering our world.

Cardinal signs represent initiative and leadership. They ask us to make commitments and set tar-gets. This may be rather tricky to do at present given the state of the world and the fact that there are a number of planets stationing.

Neptune will station retrograde on the 23rd, fuelling our imaginations, and/or clouding our vision. The key is to harness our dreams, but not to give in to wild fantasies, conspiracies and illusion. It’s a fine line to walk, especially with Mercu-ry stationing retrograde a couple of days before. Mercury retro-grade asks us to slow things down and make revisions if needed. A rethink may be required.

Venus will turn direct this week too a signal to open up to new con-nections and relationships. It will be interesting to see how this mar-ries with any further lifting of social distancing restrictions in late June.

This is a solar eclipse, and as it falls on the same day at the Solstice, it’s creating a concentrated vortex of energy.

This is an Annular eclipse, so the Moon doesn’t fully cover the Sun, leaving a ring of sun visible. The eclipse path will travel across cen-tral Africa, much of Asia including China. A partial eclipse will be seen across most of Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Rus-sia, Indonesia and the northern tip of Australia.

The Moon phase before New Moon is known as the Balsamic Phase. The Moon is invisible, hidden in the glare of the Sun.

The Moon is the natural ruler of Cancer, so it’s an im-portant feature when the Sun enters Cancer at the June solstice.

This solstice, the Moon is in Gemini, in its balsamic phase, making a very tight square to Mars. The Moon is also making quincunx aspect to Jupiter, Pluto and Athena, making this a time when emotions are raw and we may be feeling confused and vulnerable.

The balsamic phase is a prelude, a time for introspec-tion, reflection and planning. It’s not time for action, but for considering what actions will be taken.

Yet, with the Moon in such a tight square to Mars, we are being urged to get moving.

This is consistent with the global push-pull between being open for business and remaining closed and

planning for a recovery. Cabin fever is setting in.

It’s a balancing act. With mutable signs involved, the situation is very fluid and changeable. Under such conditions it’s very tricky to make plans. And yet that’s just what the solstice asks us to do, to make plans for the next three months. There is an impera-tive to set targets.

Venus is about to turn direct, though she has not yet done so, Venus will be reborn as the morning star on June 10, and will station direct on the 25th. Again this provides is feeling of making preparations and getting ready.

The balsamic Moon phase is known to be prophetic. The invisible Moon senses what’s to come, it’s highly intuitive, sensitive and quietly knowing, so be guided by your instinct and listen to your heart.
