Transmission Technology for Transport Mixers

In driveline technology for concrete mixers ZF isextending its lead in the world’s market. Vehicle manu-facturers from the USA to China put their trust in thehigh quality of ZF mixer transmissions. ZF fulfills thisdemand through continual product innovation.

ZF has developed the new generation of the ECOMIXrange type CML (Concrete Mixer Lowspeed) for trans-port mixers up to 10 m³ drum capacity and an outputtorque up to 62,000 Nm. Mixer transmissions ECOMIXII are based on the achievements of the first Ecomixgeneration, however, they are smaller, lighter, tougher,more flexible, quieter, more noise reduced and easier toservice.

The Ecomix II transmission CML 10 in comparison to previous models is approx. 24 % lighter and 50 %shorter. However, the special design of the new mixertransmission range Ecomix II also offers a wide range offurther advantages. Thanks to a tough bearing concept itwas possible to significantly increase the output bearingstrength, which leads to less sensibility at off-road oper-ation. The use of patented Elastomerunits from ZF Boge Elastmetall allow an increase of theaxial runout at drum bottom and an increase of mis-alignment of the drum. With the new bearing conceptthe installation angle is no longer dependent on drumsize and drum filling. An installation angle up to 20° isalways possible. Acoustic and mechanic descoupling of

drum and vehicle frame leads to considerablenoise reduction during operation andimproved driving comfort.

The service-friendliness has been improvedby an adapted, weight-optimized slow run-ning radial-piston motor and a separate oilvolume for the transmission, as well as betteraccessibility. Instead of the previous sealingcollar, a cassette seal is used, making thetransmission more robust and increasing theservice life. The transmission is fitted withlifetime oil lubrication.This saves costs and preserves the environ-ment. The compact lightweight constructionalso offers the vehicle manufacturer moredesign freedom.
