ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION TRAINING AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE (EPTRI) HYDERABAD, TELANGANA, INDIA

EPTRI was set up in 1992 in Hyderabad, as an independent society with assistance of State Government and Government of India, Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) initially provided technical assistance. EPTRI comes under Environment, Forests, Science and Technology (EFS&T) Department, Government of Telangana. EPTRI is managed by a Board of Governors. Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana is the Chairman of Board of Governors. Director General is the Chief Executive of the Institute.

EPTRI has core strength of professionals from various fields of Environmental Science, Spatial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geography, Geology, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Social Sciences, Solid Waste Management and Bio-Medical Waste Management. EPTRI is accredited with Category "A" by National Accreditation Board for Education & Training (NABET), Quality Council of India (QCI) and has accredited engineers and scientists in various sectors like Mining, Power, Irrigation, Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Construction Projects.

ENVIS Centres

EPTRI has two ENVIS Centres i.e. Status of Ecology of Eastern Ghats and State of Environment and Related issues (SoE&RI) sponsored by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India with an objective to ensure integration of national efforts in environmental information collection, collation, storage, retrieval, dissemination and conservation of endangered plant species. EPTRI has conducted three National Seminars on Conservation of Eastern Ghats. ENVIS centres bring out quarterly newsletters titled Ecology of Eastern Ghats (in English) and Toorpukanumalu in vernacular language (Telugu) and Paryavaranam.
