MANEMissionandVisionThemissionoftheMinnesotaAllianceforNursingEducation(MANE)istoincreasebaccalaureatepreparednursesthroughcollaborative,andtransformativeeducationalstrategies.

ThroughincreasedaccesstobaccalaureatenursingeducationMANEwillprepareprofessionalnursestopromotehealthandmeettheevolvingandcomplexhealthcareneedsofanincreasinglydiversepopulationinMinnesota.

ThepurposeoftheMinnesotaAllianceforNursingEducation(MANE)istoimproveaccesstobaccalaureateeducationinMinnesota,closelyaligningnursingeducationwithemerginghealthcareneedsandhealthcaresystemchanges.StudentsadmittedtoaMANEcollaboratingcollegeoruniversitywillbeenrolledinafouryear(eight-semester)baccalaureateprogram,whichwillincorporatecurriculumdesignedtofacilitatedeep,contextuallygroundedlearningwhichpreparesthemfortherapidlychanginghealthcareenvironmentupongraduation.

MinnesotaAllianceforNursingEducation(MANE)ProgramTheMANEcurriculumistransformative,movingawayfromindependentsilosofeducationtocollaborationbetweenuniversities,communitycollegesandpractice.MANEisacollaborationbetweencommunitycollegeanduniversitynursingprogramstoprovideincreasedstudentaccesstoabaccalaureateprogramandattainmentofaBachelorofScienceinNursing(BSN)degree.StudentsadmittedtoacommunitycollegeMANEprogramwillbeduallyadmittedtoMetropolitanStateUniversity.

TheprogramwasbuiltfollowingathoroughanalysisofnationalstandardsincludingAACN,CCNE,NLN,ACEN(NLNAC),PEW,OCNE,andQSENfromwhichtenprogramcompetencieshavebeendeveloped.This120credit,eightsemesterprogramhascollaborativelydevelopedprerequisites,admissionprocesses,gradingscales,andaProgramPlanacrossallcollaboratingcollegesanduniversities.

MANEProgramPlanTheMANEProgramPlancontentistaughtwithinaconcept-basedcurriculumwhichspiralsconceptsthroughouttheprogram.Nursingcoursesaresequentialinnatureduetothespiraledteaching/learningmethodology.

TheMANEProgramPlanisabaccalaureatecurriculumbasedonTheEssentialsofBaccalaureateEducation(AACN,2008)withProgramStudentLearningOutcomes(PSLO’s)benchmarkedatthefifthandeightsemestersoftheprogram.AstudentenrolledataMANEcommunitycollegewillreceiveanAssociateofScienceDegreeinNursingatthesuccessfulcompletionofthefifthsemester.ThestudentisexpectedtocontinuetothecompletionoftheBachelorofScienceinNursingdegree.

AnapplicantadmittedtotheMANEcollaboratingcollegewillbeconsideredduallyadmittedtoacollaboratinguniversity.

1. GeneraladmissiontoInverHillsCommunityCollege.a. ApplicantstoInverHillsCommunityCollegemustbeingoodacademicandfinancial

standingatallpreviouslyattendedMinnesotaStateinstitutionsorcollegeadmissionmaybedenied.

2. CompletedMANENursingApplicationforInverHillsCommunityCollege.

6. Advancedstandingapplicants,LicensedPracticalNurses(Paramedicswillbeaddedwhenthecurriculumhasbeenevaluatedforappropriateadvancedstandingcredit),mustdemonstrate:

a. LicensedpracticalNurses(LPN)mustmaintainunencumberedlicensurefromanystateintheUnitedStates.

b. Whenadvancedstandingcreditisdetermined,paramedicsmustbecertifiedasaNationallyRegisteredEmergencyMedicalTechnician-Paramedic(NREMT-P),and/orstatecertifiedasanEMT-P(certificationmaybeinanystateintheUnitedStates,butmustbetoalevelequivalenttoanationallyregisteredEMT-P).

SelectionCriteriaforAcceptance/AdmissiontoMANENursingProgramRankingofapplicantswillbebasedonthefollowingcriteria:

1. TEAScompositescoredividedbyafactorof10.(Ex:Compositescoreof72%=7.2)2. FirstsemesterGPAofMANEProgramPlan.(Ex:2.75)3. ThecombinedtotalTEASandGPAscorewillbeutilizedtorankapplicantsfororderof

acceptance.(Ex:7.20+2.75=9.95rankingscore)4. IntheeventofatiedcombinedtotalTEASandGPAscore,theapplicantwiththehighestTEAS

sciencesub-scorewilladvanceinrankorderforacceptance.Ifafurthertieexists,theapplicantwiththehighestTEASmathsub-scorewilladvanceinrankorderforacceptance.

5. Allapplicants,regardlessofLPN(orParamedic/EMTwhenapplicable)status,willbeplacedintoacommonapplicantpoolbasedonnumericscoreasidentifiedincriteria1-3.

6. FullacceptancetotheMANEcollaboratingcollegeanduniversityisdependentonsuccessfulcompletionofthesecondsemesteroftheMANEcurriculumplan,maintainingaminimumgradepointaverage(GPA)of2.75,includingobtainingagradeofCorgreaterinallrequiredcourses.

AfterAcceptance/AdmissiontoMANENursingProgram

EvidenceofhavingcompletedthefollowingcriteriawillberequiredpriortothestartofMANEnursingcoursesandmustremaincurrentthroughouttheprogram.Requirementsinclude,butmaynotbelimitedto:

1. DocumentationofcurrentCPRHealthcareProvider.

2. CompletionofcurrentMinnesotaHumanServicesBackgroundStudy.• Ifanapplicanthasbeenarrested,chargedorconvictedofanycriminaloffense,heorshe

shouldinvestigatetheimpactthatthechargeorconvictionmayhaveonhisorherchancesofemploymentorlicensureasaregisterednurseandthestudent’schancestoobtainfederal,stateandotherhighereducationfinancialaid(byMinnesotaStatute135A.157).

• Iftheapplicantrefuses,orisdisqualifiedasaresultofthebackgroundstudy,theapplicantwillbeunabletosuccessfullycompletetherequirementsoftheMANEprogram.

Note:Involuntaryterminationfromahealthcareinstitutionmayprohibitanapplicantfromcompletingthisprogram.

3. Completedhealthandimmunizationrecord,includingproofofcurrentimmunizationsandtuberculosistesting,and/orotherrequirementsasdefinedbytheclinicalagency.

2. MetropolitanStateUniversitywillsendthestudentwrittenacknowledgementofparticipationintheMANEProgramandAdmitPacketforafuturetermofenrollmentatMetropolitanStateUniversitybasedonthefollowingcriteria:

a. AcceptancetoaMANEnursingprogram.b. Submissionofalladmissionmaterials.c. *Submissionofanelectronic“DualAdmissionForm”tocompletetheBSNdegreeat

MetropolitanStateUniversity.

3. AMetropolitanStateUniversitynursingrepresentativewillconnectwithMANEstudentsonthecommunitycollegecampusesinthe4thand5thsemestersoftheprogramtoadvisethestudentonthedualadmissionprocessandcontinuationtotheBachelorofScienceinNursingdegree.MetropolitanState(newstudentorientation)willtakeplaceinthe5thsemesteroftheprogram.MetropolitanStatewillbeginteachinginthe6thsemesteroftheprogram.

4. ContinuingatMetropolitanStateUniversityaftercompletionoffivesemestersoftheMANEProgramPlan:Studentsmustmeettheacademicperformancecriteriaofbothinstitutions,andtheMANEprogram,inordertocontinuetothebaccalaureatedegree.StudentsthatdonotwillbedeniedcontinuingtocompletionofthebaccalaureatedegreeatMetropolitanStateUniversity.Inaddition,studentswillbereviewedforanyotherperformancecriteriathatmayprohibitcontinuingatMetropolitanStateUniversity(i.e.codeofconductissues,probationstatus).

The Minnesota Alliance for Nursing Education (MANE) is comprised of member community colleges and Metropolitan State University who collaboratively offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, with dual admittance to Inver Hills Community College and Metropolitan State University for degree completion. This opportunity provides nursing students flexibility in their educational and career planning.

Completion of this single application provides the information necessary to be considered for full admission to a

MANE collaborating college and/or university nursing program. A separate application form must be completed for

each MANE Nursing program to which you apply.

Application deadlines are February 1 and June 1 of each year for programs admitting fall and fall semester cohorts and

February 1 for programs admitting fall semester cohorts only. All requirements for application must be completed or
