Welcome to the European Convention 2020

It is with great honor the SAASDC welcome you all to visit Sweden and the European Convention 2020.

I’m convinced that the hosting club, Crazy Flutters, will organize a successful convention with great dancing and a lot of unforgettable joy. The event will take place in a very interesting town, Sigtuna, the oldest city in Sweden. You will be surprised by the nice at-mosphere in this little town.

Welcome to my hometown and the

European Square- and Round Dance Convention 2020.

I’m proud to wish you all welcome to Sigtuna in Sweden. Sigtuna is the oldest town in Swe-den and also the first capital. It was founded in 970 by King Erik the Victorious at the end of

the Viking era. Today, we can go back in time and visit medieval churches, ruins, castles and many other things. This is where Swe-den begins!

Hopefully, you will enjoy both the lush greenery by lake Mälaren and the dance festival. We have prepared a three day program with a lot of dancing to some of Europe’s top callers and cuers as well as leisure and party time. We offer five dance halls, cafeteria, food, after party and a lot more. Why not take the opportunity to cool down at the outdoor beach just 10 minutes walking distance from

the dance halls? The venue is just 15 km from Stockholm International Airport and there are plenty of hotels and other lodgings close by.

Hope to see you in Sigtuna at the beginning of July 2020. We are ready for your arrival and excited to welcome you!

Time schedule

During the weekend, the programs for Square Dance will be Basic to C2 and the phases

for Round Dance will be phase II to VI. There will be dance in 5 different halls. A more de-

tailed dance program will be updated on the website.

Shoes or boots with high heels or those that will leave black marks on the floor are not

allowed in the dance halls.

Cool down during the event

Just 10 minutes walking distance from the event area you will find a small sandy beach

where you can take a cooling swim in lake Mälaren. Refreshing!

Last day for pre-registration is the 3rd of June 2020. Please register on our website convention2020.eu.

Food Lunch will be served between 11.00 and 15.00 Friday-Sunday. You need to pre-book your lunch and time slot when you register for the event. Pub evening and after party also have to be pre-booked. Snacks, food and drinks will be available during the whole weekend in our cafeterias. There are also plenty of restaurants and coffee shops in Sigtuna within 15 minutes walking distance.

Shopping

There will be vendors so you can buy accessories, shoes and gadgets of all kinds. So take

your time to find some things you didn’t know you needed!

Maybe you are a vendor yourself? Don’t hesitate to contact us to reserve your spot in the

shopping area!


Accommodation We offer two different kinds of accommodation: hostel (single, double or triple room with breakfast and end cleaning) and parking space for caravan or camper (no electricity). These can be booked on our website when you register for the event. On our website you will find hotels in Sigtuna with discounted rates for the European Con-vention. To reserve rooms at these hotels, you need to use the information and booking links that are available on our website. All hotels in Sigtuna are within walking distance of the event area. The recommended hotels are:

Entertainment

Be prepared to do more things than dancing all day. We have other stuff going on during

the convention days.

On Thursday night there will be a Trail-End Dance at the dance halls, both with square–

and round dance. The Trail-End Dance will start at 18.00.

On Friday night you can enjoy an evening with relaxing at our ”Pub”. There will be a

country band playing music, and a light ”Pub Plate” with sausage and cheese is included in

the entry fee. You can buy soft drinks, beer or wine and something from the grill. Welcome

to the Pub!

On Saturday night there will be an after party with a local band playing dance music. A

meal is included in the entry fee and you can buy soft drinks, beer or wine. Lots of fun and

a good way to end a wonderful day!

More details of these events will be published on our website which will be updated conti-

nuously. There you will find all the information you need.

The ”Pub” evening and the after party may only be attended if ordered and paid for by

registration! Please reserve it when you enter your participation to the convention.

Own food and beverages are not allowed!

If you are a group and would like to have transfer from the airport to Sigtuna or maybe a sightseeing tour in Stockholm, you will find the information there. It is also possible to reserve a one hour walking tour of the historical Sigtuna with a professional guide.
