EU: Programmes, Calls & Funds
Programme: It’s a framework or a global document where the EU institutions reflect their intentions for Europe and its citizens.
Programmes are multiannual documents which serve to focus and to guide the EU policies in one direction. People who would like to participate on EU funds have to follow the criteria highlighted in these documents.
EU Programmes, Calls & Funds- Calls: associated/linked with the some specific
program it is a document published from the programs management team in order to open the period to submit the project proposal for evaluation and funding.
- Usually: there is one call per year but, sometimes is possible to find the same call open twice/year or even more.
There is a specific call for a specific program
Ex.: LIFE+ or Erasmus +
EU Programmes, Calls & Funds- Funds: EU has different levels of funds and they could
appear from very different ways. Not always people like us will can ask for this funds.
- Sometimes will be our national Governments who are managing directly these Funds after a period of negotiation with the European Union
- Important to distinguish between: Structural Funds and Direct Funds
EU Programmes, Calls & Funds
- Structural Funds: EU investment on big infrastructures through, usually, the national, regional or local governments. Population can’t access to these funds in not so much situations. Ex. INTERREG
- Direct Funds: direct lines of grants that EU offers to the civilian entities which must be managed directly by them on the European Commission supervision. One call + One Submission Period = Approved or Rejected Proposal
