MACHINES COME EQUIPPED WITH FILTERS!

WHY DO WE NEED AN ADDITIONAL OIL CLEANINGSYSTEM??

Page 5: Industrial Oil Cleaning Systems & Purification Systems by Klassic Klarol Filters Private Limited

Machine Filters cannot remove contamination smaller than clearances of critical components.

Page 6: Industrial Oil Cleaning Systems & Purification Systems by Klassic Klarol Filters Private Limited

Machine Filters cannot remove water which can act as a catalyst to increase acid value.

Machine Filters cannot remove air which is a destructive contaminant !

Symptoms of aeration in fluid include:

Higher component noise levels. Erratic system performance. Premature pump failures. Increased fluid temperatures. Fluid viscosity changes. Loss of fluid lubricity properties. Oxidation of fluid.

Thermal degradation - Did you know that compressing an air bubble from ambient pressure to 3,000 psi increases the bubble's temperature to more than 2,000 degrees F? This is hot enough to thermally degrade oil at the boundary contact between the air and the bubble, which darkens the oil, sometimes giving it a sooty appearance, and causes varnish to build up on component surfaces.

Page 9: Industrial Oil Cleaning Systems & Purification Systems by Klassic Klarol Filters Private Limited

At higher oil pressures components require cleaner oils.

MACHINE FILTERS CANNOT STOP OIL DEGRADATION

Page 12: Industrial Oil Cleaning Systems & Purification Systems by Klassic Klarol Filters Private Limited

Corrosion Acid attacks component surfaces, causing pitting and surface degradation.

Varnishing Polymers and oxides are other by-products of the oxidation process. Varnish deposits on servo, proportional and other tight-clearance hydraulic valves result in sticking, which can slow or stop operation.

Loss of Lubricity Oxidation affects the physical properties of the oil, altering its flow and lubrication characteristics.

Foaming and Air EntrainmentThe moment the base oil begins to degrade, the interfacial tension properties of the oil start to decline. Interfacial tension (related to surface tension) is the physical property that describes the ease with which oil separates from insoluble materials such as air and water. In hydraulic systems, entrained air produces sponginess and loss of precision control, again due to the air’s compressibility.

Filter Plugging Varnish deposits and sludge can cause rapid filter depletion (a big cost on some machines). Likewise, the entrainment of water due to poor demulsibility properties adversely influences the filterability of the oil.

Oil degradation can be the cause of numerous sources of potential collateral damage to the machine that are described below:

IT IS THEREFORE IMPORTANT THAT WE USE AN ADDITIONALOIL CLEANING SYSTEM WHICHIS CAPABLE OF REMOVING SOLID PARTICLES, WATER,OXIDISED LIGHTER WEIGHT MOLECULES OF OIL& AIR AND GASES FROMTHE OIL IN USE.

Cleanliness levels of Oil

NAS Class 9: indicates the particulate levels of hydraulic fluid as received from the refinery or oil supplier.

NAS Class 7: indicates the particulate level of hydraulic fluid required for most conventional hydraulic systems that do not include hydraulic pressure regulators or hydraulic servo-control valves

NAS Class 5: indicates the particulate level of hydraulic fluid required for hydraulic systems when there arehydraulic pressure regulating valves and hydraulic servo-valves .

Prevention of contamination is more cost-effective thanthe cure.

Ensure the following always:

• Proper breathers to prevent contaminated air from entering reservoir.

• Well designed reservoirs to ensure settling of heavy particles & water to be drained at intervals.

• Drum stored horizontally to prevent water ingress.

• Recycling of oil regularly or use it to prevent long-term degradation.

• Filtered oil going into and out of the reservoir.

Prevention better than cure !
