    Online UPS has a double conversion power circuit with an inverter. These systems are used to provide continuous power supply to

    equipment. During load shed or blackouts, the supply is automatically switched to battery mode without any delay. Benefits of using

    an online UPS system are that it provides the highest level of protection from all types of power problems such as high voltage

    surges, frequency variation, etc. It is mainly used in IT/ITES industry, offices, banks, etc

    Offline UPS: It consists of an AC/DC & DC/AC inverter with a battery, switch, low pass filter and a surge suppressor. It is also called

    standby UPS. The system becomes operational by setting AC input as a primary source. Inverter remains on standby and becomes

    active only when power fails, and transfer switch transfers electrical load to the backup unit. It is primarily used in desktop

    computers, and its main advantages are small size, low cost, high efficiency, etc.

    Less than 5kVA: UPS systems with power ratings less than 5kVA are used in desktop PCs, laptops, desktop PCs, LCDs, Wi-Fi

    routers, CFLs, mobile chargers, modems, small offices, storage devices, network switches and electronic devices used in banks,

    hospitals, shopping malls, amusement parks, retail outlets, hotels, ITeS, educational and financial institutions, etc.

    5.1kVA-50kVA: UPS systems with power ratings between 5.1kVA-20kVA are used in hotels, semiconductor industries, SMBs,

    ATMs, counting machines, data centers, BPOs, IT/ITeS, BFSI, Telecom and hospitality sectors. Majority of the demand for UPS in

    this range emanates from hotel industry for ensuring reliable & secure hotel information system and efficient power conditioning.

    50.1kVA-200kVA: UPS systems with power ratings in the range of 20.1kVA-60kVA are used in small & medium-sized

    commercial and industrial end-user segments including textile industries, data centres, IT/ITeS, petrochemical industries etc.

    Above 200 kVA: UPS with power rating above 200kVA are majorly used in manufacturing plants, petrochemical industries,

    textile industries, printing & stamping accessories, hospitals, electronic industries etc. Hospitals and other healthcare sectors

    require uninterrupted power supply for proper functioning of devices used in critical operations such as devices deployed in

    surgery and emergency rooms that could otherwise, lead to data loss or medical errors which would ruin the entire process

    resulting in disruption in critical healthcare or monetary loss, etc.

    Above 800 kVA: Above 800kVA UPS systems are used for large industrial applications such as textile industries, paper and pulp

    industries, petrochemicals, manufacturing, large-scale data centres, printing and stamping industries and pharmaceutical

    industries. Industrial UPS systems are designed for harsh environments and industrial applications may require multiple or

    parallel-redundant systems in order to withstand different loads within the same facility.
